Skyrim lacks comedy.

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 2:57 pm

I know I know...it's in the middle of a war and dragons are coming back. But I have only encountered 1 or 2 funny things. One was hilarious! Cicero was with me and I was sneaking up to a bandit camp and all of the sudden he just starts dancing! I just bursted out laughing in my room. Anyways who agrees skyrim needs some more comedic moments? And feel free to share yours.

We have Cicero..what do you want more ?

However there are a lot of good dialogue lines from bandits and some named Npcs in the game, you can search for them on the Uesp Wiki if you've not founded yet in the game.

Completely sweeping statement FTW!
To say Skyrim lacks comedy is to say the Tacoma Narrows bridge had the wrong paint color.

There is that one court mage who is extremely forgetful. She's funny. I wonder if swallowing a soul gem would make casting spells different... Now where was that blue thing...

I laugh a lot while playing.... not due to scripting, just the things that npcs do, and my mentally added commentary!

I think you should be on the "X things I dislike about Skyrim thread", although I suspect that there would be only one thing on your list.

I just had another laugh last night: Byrnolf in the Twilight Sepulcher... "It's enough to make your head spin - ay!" when you're getting the armor.... I thought the way he said was priceless!

There is a Thalmor torture dungeon somewhere in the north related to a quest, and in the torture room among the pliers and hammers and knifes layed out for a torturer to use is an onion.

I thought it was pretty funny.

I came across a burned down house out in the wilderness and inside was a crispy charred body. Beside the body was a scroll to conjure a Flame Atronach. That situation made me laugh.

That's not funny, it's a warning about the dangers of conjuration :obliviongate:

A garlic, to be exact. I've seen it in some other places too, though i wouldn't call that "funny"
But M'aiq i would, even though he thinks i'm an idiot for wanting crossbows :hehe:

And yesterday i saw a body of bandit grabbing a nirnroot :lmao: Not an alchemist that one, since nirnroot's first effect is damage health  Or maybe nirnroots actually are radioactive :bolt:

Seriously though I might withstand the other stuff but if one of them Justiciars starts cutting up an onion right up in my face I would deny Talos as many times as they like *and* confirm that Ulfric wears pink toenail polish and collects Hello Kitty lunchboxes.

The Khajiit bodyguard you can get has this 1 funny line when you talk to em. He says "If anyone sneaks up on us i will smell them coming, or i might not...we will see"

Pretty much. The huge multitude of problems I see in the game revolve around one point.

Some of their lines strike me as an obvious attempt by Bethesda at humour / meme material... like the 'someone stole your sweetroll' line (which incidentally isn't very funny because it's such an obvious attempt).

The very first thing I ever got caught stealing in Skyrim was a sweetroll. Shortly thereafter is the first time I heard that line. I thought, "Wow, how cool is that?" It wasn't until my second play-through that I realized it was a stock line and that it was just a coincidence.

I'm guessing the garlic goes in the cuts to make it hurt more... so it's funny if you're sadistic. I don't think I've ever seen a positive post made by admoni.

I laughed pretty hard when Lydia was fighting a giant and got kicked straight up in the air, never to be seen again.
