I always thought that, that line " well met kinsman " was tied to race? When I play my breton it's the other bretons who greet me this way, where as the nords will make a remark about me being a breton. And as my nord it's the reverse, the other nords greet me this way while the bretons make a remark about me being a nord. My khajiit always gets called a cat stupid pink skins!!!! My orc always gets treated like a criminal( even though he is ) So I`m pretty sure it`s tied to what race your playing as.Maybe.

I've never played Oblivion, but reading the thread title made me immediately think of the common greeting dwarves use in WoW.


Bandits and Forsworn use this phrase.

Otherwise, I agree that there seems to be little in the way of social greetings in the game. "It's a fine day with you around," or, "You look like someone who can get things done. I like that," are okay once, but a simple "hello" would suffice. And those guards and their, "What is it?" which becomes, "What is it? Dragons?" after you kill a dragon.

Oh, there is one thing guards say that makes me chuckle: "If I find your hand in my pocket, I'm going to cut it off!" Cut what off? My hand? Your pocket?

Hail Dovahkiin, what do you need?, your trespassing!, hey, listen i know who you are... hail sithis, hey, i know who you are we have some good people in(city name here) don't forget that., or my personal favorite even after i became leader of companions. wait i remember now your the new member of the companions so you what? fetch there mead?
