Dunmer and... the Dominion

I highly doubt that Orsimer and Dunmer would ally.

Dunmer are too proud, and the Orsimer aren't a huge force to be reckoned with......sadly we are very scattered...... :(

You may call me crazy but I'm actualy on the side of reason when it comes to what the lizards Argonians did. Our races have hated each other for centuries, I think its high time we pull our heads out of our asses and be friends. Although knowing my people... its very unlikely that will ever happen. We do have bigger things to worry about, and once Resdayn is rebuilt, we will ally with Skyrim and Argonia, just like we did in ancient times, against the Aldmeri Dominion.

Mostly wishful thinking on my part.

After what happened with the First Aldmeri Dominion, the Dunmer don't have such high regard for the Altmer either. The Dunmer left the Sommerset Isles after the Aldmeri couldn't accept that the Dunmer weren't going to stop worshiping their Ancestors and the Daedra Princes instead of the Nine (Eight) Divines. At this time, the Dunmer were known as the Chimer. The Chimer settles in Morrowind, and during one of their Wars with the Dwemer, Azura cursed them turning their eyes as red as blood, and their skin the color of Ash. Thus they took the name Dunmer. As far as I know, the Dunmer have unofficially seceded from the Empire. Could be because the Empire didn't lift a finger during the eruption of Red Mountain, nor did they assist during the aftermath of that when the Argonian armies of Black Marsh invaded a vastly weakened Morrowind. Now the Dunmer are rebuilding their Kingdom on the island of Solstheim. they have no love for the Aldmeri Dominion (old 1st one, or the new one) or the Thalmor, but neither does their love run freely for the Empire. The Empire loved making use of Dunmer Destruction Mages and Sword masters in their wars, but when Morrowind needed help, they didn't do [censored]. Imperial S'wit...

you forgot how they loved making use of Dunmer queens.

The Decree of Monument

4 E 20
This tower once served as a meeting place where those brave souls who achieved safe passage to Skyrim would find loved ones, and leave notice for others who could not be found.

Let it stand in honor of those who had the strength and spirit to accept Skyrim's Offer "untithed to any thane or hold, and self-governed, with free worship, with no compensation to Skyrim or the Empire except as writ in the Armistice of old wheresoever those might still apply, and henceforth let no Man or Mer say that the Sons and Daughters of Kyne are without mercy or honor."
We, the Jarls of Skyrim, hereby decree this site as monument to the struggle of those who fled their native home of Morrowind in the time following the Red Year.

Keep in mind, though, this was about 200 years ago. It doesn't seem to be in effect anymore.

And then there is the quest where you can make the Jarl of Windhelm increase a Dunmer shopkeepers' taxes. So yes, they do pay taxes.

what quest is that ? it seems like an odd one  I've never come across it but it sounds fun ! :bunny:

I'm going to mention this right away: It is highly unlikely the Thalmor had anything to do with the Hists motivation for attacking the Dunmer. The Dunmer managed to antagonize that creature themselves by century after century of using Argonians as slaves and occationally(or often, not sure) raiding Black Marsh for new slaves.

The Thalmor may have added to the flames, but even if they did I have a feeling it wouldn't have happened any other way if they didn't.

I can't find the reference atm, but the invasion wasn't a consensus of the entire Hist; it seems that -one- Hist was responsible. And after the fact was considered insane. Maybe it was all the Hist's idea. But it was -awfully- convenient for the Aldmeri Dominion that the mer nation that would =never= join them, and most likely stand against them, was sacked and murdered while at its weakest. And the Argonian attack was not a military strike. It was a crazed murder-spree on civilian survivors; men, women, children, after the equivalent of a nuclear strike. Whether or not they were guilty of anything. Coincidences of that magnitude........aren't.

They aren't? Maybe not, but I am not sure a Thalmor intervention would change anything. However the Thalmor have proven to know what will happen ahead of time, as seen with the Void Nights and, IIRC, they knew the Oblivion would happen and used it to seize power. I am inder the impression the Thalmor are merely using events they know will happen to their advantage. That they know about them is troubling though.

It would be interesting if they had their own "auger of dunlain" or a crap ton of them and have been using them and other eldritch things to help bring down the empire.
