So we can now change our looks but not our race? lame.

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 1:00 am

Ok, I guess it is a little foolish changing race mid game. My frustration comes from having to keep doing Helgen keep. Thats the real issue. Patch a fix for this.

Beth keep patching all this exotic stuff in but not patch the stuff that MATTERS. Things which just polish the edges like a Retcon before leaving the keep and kill cam toggle.

I don't think thats a good way to go, after being identified off of the cart, you get 8 different kinds of lighting scenes and dozens upon dozens of angels/situations to view your char and sum up any touching up you might want. offering a "do you want to make changes" option would do well.

and besides its not like you have much else choice other than what you look like at that point.

True enough.

With my playstyle, I wouldn't see any point in changing anything prior to leaving the cave, just as I didn't at the point where I could in FO:NV.

However, I can understand that other people have a different way of playing and perhaps might want to do a "fine tuning" at the point before they leave the cave.

So, I certainly wouldn't oppose Beth giving people the option to make changes at the intro "before you leave the cave" point.

Perhaps if Earthlinger had presented the thought in this way, without using a word like "lame", people might have been more receptive to it.

Yeah well Earth more or less proved that peeps are more concerned with how you say it, more than what you're saying ;p

(even though I had no idea what the heck he was saying initially)

Let me say it slow. Start...a...new...character. Unfortunately Skyrim has little replay value so replaying the game as a new race and different type of character has little appeal.

It sorta defeats the purpose since we're still gonna have to go through that tired, lame intro any time we want a new race.

Bethesda keep failing at every turn. Seeing the intro for the 50th time aint cool.
I'm going to be blunt and honest here.

Do you ever have anything worth saying? Are you capable of any form of positive thinking? Everything that comes from you is negative and demanding in nature.

Fix implies something is broken. The intro works just as Bethesda intended, so no fix is necessary. Why would Bethesda spend time on something that works just as intended? Just because YOU are tired of the intro doesn't mean something is broken and in need of fixing.

Bethesda isn't catering to your specific wants just because you kick and scream like a little brat.

I do agree, though, that there should be an option to skip the tutorial dungeon. Something like the "live another life" mod should be included in the vanilla game.

The intro ends the moment you leave Helgen keep, thats what I was talking about. Oblivion and Fallout had an option to change all details before leaving the intro dungeon.

Make your mind up the first time.

You don't see the intro again, you go to a guy in Riften, you pay money, and your facial features are edited.

I love playing the Intro. It's seriously the best of the game's scripted sequences. From the cart ride, to the stuff in Riverwood, I honestly wish there were a ton more instances of stuff like this.

Anyway, No race or gender change, but full appearance within the racial/six constraints are fine. Fallout 3 did it.

I'm glad you can't change race because that would be silly and erm.... lame

Changing hair, beard and warpaint styles is however completely realistic and should have been in the game first time round

I agree with most of you race changes would cause too many problems, besides if you make a couple of characters you shouldn't have a problem with race changing. I do agree that being able to change faciao features and hair would be cool though. I think they should just make warpaint an item yiu can put in your inventory like a die or somthing and then you should have to learn different styles that could give things like sneek boosts or faster movement, that woiluld be cool in my opinion.

Jez man being able to chance race mid-game defeats the purpose of having multiple chars and lowers the replay value of the game. Stop complaining, give your race more though before you start playing and be happy ;P

Why in gods name did you post this stupid thread?! If they allowed that, thats like playing all the races all at once. Theres no real feeling of "choosing your race" if they allowed this and it keeps players from really connecting to their character. You can't just race change bro it don't work like that. For my character, it would feel weird to be born a Khajiit and 40 years later want to turn into an Argonian. Just plain stupid...lol.
