Is it just me or does every single Skyrim player have a stuc

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 11:53 pm

i really wouldn't mind if it were completely possible, and without any warning, to drop and lose a quest item.

ffs it would be close to having actual consequences for doing stupid things.

'''lemme, see.. there are 237 lutes in this game world, and this ONE has a special name. I'll just sell it anyways, probably not important'''

if you are too dense to notice the in-game cues that some of this stuff is important then live and learn I say..

or they could make all quest items infinitely persistent. So if you sell something to a vendor, drop it in a cave, whatever you have to retrace your steps to find it again.

I think if you've done the main quest everybody has at least the Attunement Sphere stuck in their inventory.

This is why we need a toggle option for quest items, the 'casual' players who just want to play the game and not worry about crap like this can leave them in, but I for one can sort out the important items myself.

I think the same with essential NPC, three options:
-always essential
-essential to other enemies, such as dragons (but not to you)
-never essential

Such an easy option that sorts these little problems out and suits everyone, sigh.

Yup. Apparently I need to talk to some guy at whiterun stables for gods-know-what. He doesn't know himself either.

Have they fixed "Blood on the Ice"?

Which glitch ye' talking about with "Blood on the Ice"? There is one with it that actually isn't a glitch, well kinda isn't...

Anyways.. This is common. Happened to me before in both Skyrim and Oblivion.. So not surprise.. Doesn't bother me much either since most of the quest items I get are in the misc section, which I rarely go to.

I'm pretty sure the instruments no longer are stuck in the inventory.

I just don't like how the Stones of Barenziah do not stack. Especially when you accidentally pick up a wooden bowl and have to scroll all the way down.

I haven't had a quest item stuck yet. I did have two pieces of the Gauldur amulet but somehow I entered a random cave and found the place where you put them.

I seriously wish they added an option for nothing to be stuck in the inventory.. Not everyone is going to be able to carry something around 24/7 so it would be interesting if they added something where if you did drop something that is quest related you would have to remember or be S.O.L, it would add a better usage of a house chest where you can store important things instead of having to lug them around.

That gave me an idea, what if they added a possibility to drop items by accident without even knowing you did if you had a weight over a certain number? I mean, my phone will barely stay in my shorts pocket by itself, let alone a carrying weight of 300 hidden somewhere in my magical storage body.

It's not even like dropping something should break a quest even if you forget where you dropped it. You're already using quest arrows. Just tie it to the object itself rather than whatever chest it is originally found in. Then if you drop it or sell or whatever, the arrow will just direct you to that spot/merchant.

The "Investigate the Bard's College" quest remains in my quest log, even though I joined the Bard's College.

As for the stuck items, I save before entering dungeons as a precaution and frequent the forums here, as well as the wiki site. Atm, no items are stuck in my inventory, and I will re-load if that changes.

I can't imagine that anyone who plays the game with any regularity hasn't come across a stuck quest or quest item. Without looking things up online first, it's hard to avoid these things during regular gameplay.

I have:

Strange Amulet
Gallus's Encoded Journal
Attunement Sphere (2)
Finn's Lute
Rjorn's Drum
Runed Lexicon

as fixed quest items. Now if I start a new game with all of Skyrim's latest patches will these continue to be stuck in the inventory?

I also have:

Collect Bounty from Skald (3) - quest won't update
Find Pantea's Flute - found Pantea's flute before getting her quest, handed over the quest item, quest item removed, misc still stuck
Kill the leader of Uttering Hills Camp - cleared the dungeon before getting the quest, quest marker pointing to ground with no one to kill.
Ask Aldis for information about Angeline's daughter - killed all the imperials, quest marker pointing to ground
Speak to Verulus about the hall of the dead - stuck misc quest, haven't updated.
Visit the College of Winterhold - use persuassion to bypass magic tutorial, misc quest haven't updated.

as stuck misc quests that can never be completed.

So I gotta assume people playing on the 360/ps3 will have most or some of these stuck items/misc no matter if you reload a new game and play a new story?
I have a lot of the same stuck quests. It's really irritating.

We've all been there. The most painful is the 20-pound Elder Scroll...
Quest items don't add to your weight. So while things may clutter up my inventory, i dont really mind since they are weightless.

Right. Plus the scroll can be donated to a certain book-loving Orc, after it has served its more important purposes. Habd's remains have a good use as well. I'm not aware of this being bugged.

I think the best way to deal with quest items is to allow you to move them into a new "Quest Items" section in your inventory. They're already weightless (even when they say they aren't). Now they need to be unobtrusive.

I guess the major bugs Bethesda should focus on are these unobtrusive stuck quest items, stuck misc quests that don't update, and anything that prevents clearing dungeons, like the one I have in Wolfskull cave :(

Yes, take the Elder Scroll to the Librarian at the College of Winterhold. He wil be tickled pink to have it, and will probably reward you for making such a generous donation to the College.

He will still hunt you down and kill you if you disrespect his other books, mind you, but he might allow you a quick and relatively painless death just out of lingering gratitude.

On one character I have:
-Speak to Verulus about the Hall of the Dead (spoke to him before I got the quest to speak to him)
-Report Leifnarr's death to his family (found the body before I met the family, now I can't report it)
At least one more Misc quest I don't recall for the moment
-Gallus' Encoded Journal
-The Stones of Barenziah as separate posts in the inventory
I managed to drop the Glenmoril Witches' Heads, though. Just dropped them in the wilderness, and they actually disappeared.

the only trouble with placing things in your home is sometimes it all just goes 'poof'

at least on ps3 if you don't enter breezehome frequently enough everything gets reset.

I picked up one of those books from the mages guild radiant quests before I got the quest and spent forever hunting down the console commands to drop the book from my inventory so I could finish the quest. I also avoid taking any bounty quests for dawnstar because all the giant quests stay in my journal forever after completion.

The Unofficial Skyrim Patch fixed all my issues. My journal only has things I need to do.

Having the same issues and if there is a way to clean these things up on xbox 360 please point me in the right direction.

Have 2 attunement spheres, a whole pile of Briar hearts, Helm of Winterhold (I finished the Civil War and so the ex-Jarl who gave me this quest won't speak to me).

I have several quests where I guess I was supposed to walk with some NPC through a dungeon, but I just left them alone and fought everything solo, so now the quests are stuck unfinished. I have a bunch of bounty quests from Dawnstar where I actually got the bounties but the quest log won't update. I have another one to kill a dragon which is already dead.
