Good luck. I wish I could switch to PC but I can't afford a good gaming PC.

BTW how much would a really good good gaming PC cost?

eh, too high maintenence for my liking.

I actually don't think Maintenance is the biggest problem.

My problem with PC gaming in general is all that power.

Morrowind, Oblivion, Sins of a Solar Empire, Battlefield (From 1942 to 2142)... I wind up spending so much more time trying to push my hardware to it's limit, and beyond. Then add in mods. Especially with Morrowind, it seems like there's a new mod every day... If I've spent 3,000 hours playing Morrowind, I've spent 6,000 just installing, uninstalling and configuring mods.

There's something cathartic about having all control ripped away from you, and then you can just focus on the the game. That said, since OP was a PS3 user originally, that argument doesn't really apply. PS3 users seem to spend just as much time restarting or self-debugging just to get Skyrim to work, as playing the game itself.

That seems a bit... excessive?

I have it on both PC and Xbox, and I play both... but still tend to play more on the Xbox. You will likely find that most mods are more fluff that anything, and really don't change that experience that much. But there are some really awesome mods like the UESP though I have to admit.

I tend to use my gaming PC for strategy games like Total War than anything else which Is why I still keep it current. But why get rid of the PS3? Sony has some of the best exclusives there is, & your not going to get them on PC?

Seems a bit excessive for extra fluff... which is what slightly better graphics and mods are.

no...way

y-you actually LIKE the MLP dragons!?

It'd be rather hilarious, and would make for a good topic of conversation. Although the conversation will be about how I just stained my game forever. But that is why I stick with my xbox version, I don't want silly things clogging up my game. Can't wait to get Dawnguard for 360, that will hold me over for a while.

Sure, PCs have mods, but we have canon mods on our side! Muwahahah!

its not just skyrim im getting a PC for, there are some very good PC exclusive games out there too that im missing out on too.
battlefield 1942, vietnam, 2, 2142, 3
planetside 2
killing floor (watched so many live streams of that game i LOVE it)
minecraft
AoE 3
amnesia
just cause 2
pevious tes titles
gta 4 and 5 (soon)
the list goes on, i just mentioned skyrim in general because its on a skyrim forum, where we talk about skyrim. skyrim isnt the main soul purpose that drives me to a PC, its just an extra encouragement that led me to PC

If not already, ask abut the video card in the PC hardware forum. What seems like a good video card may not be because the devil is in the details. Great for graphics but not game graphics. I learned my lesson there (during Oblivion).

Never liked consoles. I play action and RPGs, and I cannot for the life of me imagine trying to play any of these kinds of games with a controller. I've owned controllers for PCs and they largely were never used. Granted, it's a lot more expensive to get a PC setup to play Skyrim, but there are so many more advantages. I think you've made a good decision.

dont blame you, im dreading the day when all my peices arrive and i will attempt to build it alone... there will be a lot of stuff to learn but i guess it will pay off over time. but thats what i love about consoles too, you just plug it up and play, there's nothing to it!
There are lots of videos on youtube. I'm thinking of upgrading my PC or possibly building a new one from scratch. Seeing this makes me want to do it more. Better get saving though PC's don't come cheap. I don't look forward to building a new one myself if I decide on it. I remember last time it was pretty confusing with all the different wires getting in the way of each other. But good luck.

In the long run, it's a great choice and the best platform to game on. It will take some getting used to, but you will not regret it.

I use both my xbox and my pc, eventually after playing fallout 3 on the xbox for ages I bought it cheap for pc for mods. (I prefer console to prevent temptation to use console.)
I agree with you there, while i enjoy the pc experience for the mods, its very tempting for me to use the console to ease my way through it rather than to actually work on achieving everything i want
