unplugged the ps3
put it on display
took some pics
put it on sale on ebay
pack up my PS3 and all of its belongings together ready to be shipped

now starts my road to the PC

a new dawn

a new era for my experience with skyrim...

got the specs and hardware bookmarked and ready to purchase the end of the month!

just one question

have i chosen the right path for skyrim guys? will it be a whole new version of skyrim to me?

wish me luck boys and girls

IM GOING IN! (24 days)

p.s. has anyone else migrated to PC from console for skyrim? any positives or negatives?

I use both my xbox and my pc, eventually after playing fallout 3 on the xbox for ages I bought it cheap for pc for mods. (I prefer console to prevent temptation to use console.)

altogether EVERYTHING will be around £765 including an xbox controller for PC

its reckon its time... i started on xbox way back in 06, then moved to PS3 in 10 and now im starting to see things starting to crumble so im making one last travel to PC

i dont care about the next gen console and i dont car about this rumoured console that apple is making... but thanks for the luck anyway.

i have a clue on building and setting up a PC but luckily my grandad is a computer wizard

PC or Console, the game is fun and complete as shipped. It can look better on the PC, if you get a good enough graphics card and CPU.

However, Mods can make the game much better, or much worse, depending on which ones you use and if you install them correctly. Of course, what you want to use and what I want to use are probably two different things, so choose wisely, but choose what you want.

You will not be dissapointed, the PC version of skyrim is much better. I suggest one of the ENB graphics enhancing mods if your new PC can handle it. It is like playing a whole new game.

You are better off switching now. Soon consoles will be full of DRM even worse than steam, requiring "online passes" and digital download.

I am an xbox gamer and they have ticked me off so bad over the last few years I am going back to PC when the next gen comes out.

In the last year or so PS3 has had some issues with new releases. Not sure why. I used to be a big PS fan, but gave it up when I saw the cost of a PS3 when they first came out.

I personally wouldn't want to play a TES game on anything but a PC, but is does bite that Skyrim and other new games are being made for the consoles first, then ported over to the PC. The interface for the PC version of Skyrim is a nightmare and you have to mod it to make it work at all.

NOOOOOOOOO you traitor

I have thought about it but nah, I'm attached to my Xbox now been since day one  But as a Pcer you will get mods, creation kit, better textures etc...etc... personally I think it's just a matter of personal taste / preference. If you want to turn PCer then have at er, I just cannot give in and make the jump

the only thing i will miss from ps3 is.... uncharted, its a real eye opener. and for xbox? i've been missing halo
but from what i've seen that is available on steam... im going to have many more games to choose from

but thanks! it is a kind of bittersweet ending :S

i've made sure to read up alot on how to install mods on to skyrim and i also have a friend who mods the hell out of his skyrim (dont ask what he does in it)

but thanks for the words of wizdom! lets all hope its turned out for the best!

this is one almighty thing that is right up there for when i get a PC after seeing all of the lighting/texture mods, i was stunned at how much you can change it!
last night i said my goodbye's to camilla in my house in solitude and thats where i seen it, there were lots of pixelated shadows from the light source messing up her face and then i thought "i can fix dat soon" :')

i understand about console ported games, its dissapointing in some aspects but there are other PC ported games out there for my PC to cater to i.e. battlefield 3, valve games and planetside 2

but just incase i get stuck with modding, my friend and youtube are there to help :)

thanks

haha this is what i used to think with my xbox back in the day! i dont know what happened, i just clicked inside and just wanted to get a PS3, see what it was cracked out to be, loads of people were involved in the console wars and now that i have both sides of the story to tell, i can admitt there is no difference whatsoever, the xbox and the PS3's pro's and cons may outweigh each other but they all add up to the same at the end of the day.

now im going to PC i can admitt that i will have at least some experience under my belt in the future for anyone who is stuck on buying a console or PC

I have been a console user since there was such a thing. I recently moved to PC and it is the best choice I have made in some time. I just repurchased all of my fav games for the PC. I still play on the same TV and use the same controller. It is like playing on the Xbox with a huge boost to performance, graphics, and gameplay. The Creation Kit allows me to create my own stuff and tweak the mods that don't fully contain the features I want, to make them truly epic and tailored for a particular character.

The best advice I could give is...research. I spent months reading, documentation and forum threads and watching videos before I ordered the first part for my rig. Then the real education began...learning about mods.

Good Luck and don't do it for one game. PC gaming is a hobby in itself.

Yes I have. I went from 360 to PC and quite honestly it is one of the best decisions I've made regarding TES.

dont worry, i've been pondering around and doing some research for the PC for a good year now, i know how main peices of hardware function within a PC and how to do the basics but the only thing i dont know is building it and making my own mods. thats all really.
PC gaming is something i am really keen to learn about and gain knowlege from. i take IT at college as a course and i enjoy it alot so i guess this part of IT would be the cherry on the cake :)

Welcome to the PC side of the house! Are you ready to fry your first video card? I love the greater freedom you get with PC's but you can sure as hell go through a lot more money with them. I love cracking open my PC and trying out different parts. Or even just blowing out the dust bunnies. Every year, around tax refund time, I start eyeing potential "upgrades."

I could probably build two or three PC's out of the various parts I have laying around the basemant.

The mods add so much to the Skyrim experience that I couldn't see playing the game without them. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/index.php is your friend.

Don't forget the free high-res dlc through Steam too.

And then... Also, if you swap a part, turn on the PC, and immediately hear a high pitched screaming like sound? You might have put something in wrong... Just saying...

Even with all the tinkering I do, I've never bothered with overclocking. Honestly I've never found a game where I even considered it.

You know what you have to do now you are getting a proper gaming rig?

Buy Civilization 5. If your unsure, pick up Civ 4 Complete for peanuts and give it a go. Its gonna eat your life :D

You have chosen well, an excellent decision. Mods make this game so much more awesome, even though the community is still developing and the game's only been out for some months, there's already some really good ones out there and others in development.
