You know what you have to do now you are getting a proper gaming rig?

Buy Civilization 5. If your unsure, pick up Civ 4 Complete for peanuts and give it a go. Its gonna eat your life
ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! its horrible!
i've already got age of empires 2 age of empires 3 and minecraft ready. AoE is more of my preference with strategy games because you can build your own town and stuff :)

http://www.civilization5.com/, http://www.totalwar.com/shogun2, http://wcsaga.com/, and of course you've got http://www.guildwars2.com/en/ and http://www.planetside2.com/ coming up. Don't forget your peripherals either. I prefer http://steelseries.com/products/keyboards/steelseries-merc-stealth, love the built in gamepad, but to each his own and all that jazz.

Whoops... Don't forget about http://mwomercs.com/ and the new http://harebrained-schemes.com/shadowrun/.

Even with all the tinkering I do, I've never bothered with overclocking. Honestly I've never found a game where I even considered it.
is that because you already have the top graphics card? hahaha
You have chosen well, an excellent decision. Mods make this game so much more awesome, even though the community is still developing and the game's only been out for some months, there's already some really good ones out there and others in development.
thanks! as soon as i seen the announcement for the creation kit, i used to lurk alot around the PC community responding to it etc, its definatly grown more positively than other games!

bethesda really have managed to appeal to all ends of its consumer audience imo

SACRILEGE!!!

*spontaneously explodes from outraged disbelief*

To each their own I spose, I've got AoE as well, very good but I always found it too cramped. :D

TES games are always best on the PC. Though getting rid of your ps3 was maybe not the way to go about it haha. I'm sure you have games for it. And making this move for one game might be a bit rash.

I've recently made the switch to pc from xbox 360. Although my one mod is the unofficial patch, I will download more...at some point. Most of the videogames that I play are rpgs, so it made sense to go pc, and it took Skyrim to finally force me to make the jump.

it is a bit of a hard move at the moment but im also looking forward to a lot of other games on PC, i just kept this skyrim related thats all :)

but i am looking forward for:
battlefield 1942, vietnam, 2, 2142, 3
planetside 2
killing floor (watched so many live streams of that game i LOVE it)
minecraft
AoE 3
amnesia
just cause 2
pevious tes titles
gta 4 and 5 (soon)
the list goes on, i believe that i will experience the game alot better if it was on PC because of its visuals

its good to know that im not the only one who got the final hint to switch because of skyrim :)

I played out thousands of hours on the pc with Morrowind. Then bought a new pc especially for Oblivion and handed over thousands of more hours of my precious life to Bethesda. My misses then bought me an xbox for Christmas so I thought I'd better give it a go and one of my first games was another copy of Oblivion. Again I started a fresh and spend a many more hours.

Since then I've converted to xbox for gaming. For me its laying back on my double bed watching the the big 42inch flat screen whilst chillin with the wireless controller as opposed to sitting up and looking at a little screen.

Skyrim finally arrived and here I am again given hours upon hours of my precious life to Bethesda - more so than any other game (Call of Duty on-line comes second)

If I was to connect the pc up to my tv and somehow made it wireless controlled so I can still lay back on the bed and lounge as I play...... well then I think I may go back to pc.

AoE was my first strategy game too. I used to love keeping things at peace, whilst piecing together an obscene army, and then marching it into the middle of the enemy town before actually declaring war :D

Playing videogames while laying in bed makes it all too easy to fall asleep when tired and the can of Monster is empty. Must...zzz...keep...zzz...playing...zzzzzzzz....

To the OP: You might also want to get Oblivion and Morrowind for the PC. The mods that are out for those games will blow your mind.

Good move if you want to increase the life of Skyrim as mods have the ability to completely change the world. Really get your money's worth from the game.

and...oh... be prepared for CTDs and crazy stuff that comes with using many mods. :) ..and modding utilities like Wrye Bash. ....and spending more time getting mods to build the great game and working out conflicts than playing. All these experiences are now open to you if you so choose. :)

PS: There are plenty of mods that greatly improve the game without any problems.

I have to laugh at this. It's so true. Especially if I know I've not got work the following day. Zzzzz.

The misses doesn't even moan at TES games keeping her awake as she finds the music relaxing. Bethesda are geniuses

haha you are right about the whole relaxating part of it <3 i dont understand why monitor companies wont make pc monitors higher than 32"?

hehe i always made huge fort walls around my main town and sent out loads of trading carts for money :D

i just kept saving and eventually im getting where i want to now with my PC.

I originally had it on XBOX because my pc at the time was really old and could barely run Oblivion. I built a new pc and have never looked back. All i can say is make sure your parts are strong enough to run this game maxed! It looks so good on ultra with mods running. My only mistake with my build is I need a stronger processor. Looking at the i3 2100 or the i5 2500k, depends on my budget in the future.

But yeah its a whole new ball field and its kind of a learning curve but once you figure it out all is good. Especially with the mod forums and the pc forum, they can be so helpful. Just let them know what you have running and what your issue is.

Words of advice. Just because you're going to play on PC. Don't become an elitist and think you're better then everyone else just because you play on PC.

dude, i never pick sides when it comes to console/pc arguements. i see them all the time on the internet but i think they are just a waste of time. four sides carrying out their own crusades to prove who is ultimate and who is a pushover just screams lame.

this is why i come on the beth forums out of all others. people here respect each other no matter what they are playing on. back on the battlefield forums there were elitests everywhere making fun of consolers which led me to just leave it altogether after spending ALOT of time on those forums.

if someone comes up to me and tries to explain how their system is better than what i've got, i just shrug it off and dont bother.

i know there are elitists out there but one thing im certain on is that they are not here! :D

Yeah pc version is 100000000000000x superior to ther console version, but the temptation to use the console and use mods and replace dragons with characters from MLP is too much. So I use xbox. Meh. It works, for the most part.

dont blame you, im dreading the day when all my peices arrive and i will attempt to build it alone... there will be a lot of stuff to learn but i guess it will pay off over time. but thats what i love about consoles too, you just plug it up and play, there's nothing to it!
