Could Dawnguard come with new skill tree's?

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 11:27 am

I don't, I really don't like either of those things. I like good old Human vs Human stuff. :3
This. I wouldn't care for vampire or werewolf perk trees because I don't often play vampires or werewolves. One character for each and that's it for me. I would like it if by doing so, they give us the ability to add new perk trees in the CK, but not those two trees in particular.

Hand to Hand and Unarmored perk trees, now that's something I'd like to see :D. Daedra and undead damaging Dawnguard faction spells and powers would be cool too though.

Well vsions said that the wolf pack can expect some goodies in the near future, what this will include I have no clue, but I'm looking forward to it, even if it is just better scaling for when your character reaches high levels I would be happy but tbh I would like skill trees

I really hope so! to me its not so much about what i transform into its more how unique that can make my character.
wolf vs vamps has always made sense to me, they have been enemies in almost every fictional representation.
people on this forum are talking as if it was invented by mainstream media recently, true it might not fit the "NORD experience"
but lets face it if you wanted that you'd play as a nord warrior with no magic and heavy armor. :P

I at least hope that it will increase the level cap of the game. I have been maxed out for some time now.

Indeed. Underworld is the first time I ever heard them referred to as Lycans. Before that, they were werewolves. And the term has spread like a plague, as far as I'm concerned. It just annoys me for some reason.
Doesn't bother me, seems logical they would be called lycans anyway. It's no different than calling someone chris for short if their longer name is Christopher. Lycans <> Lycanthropy

Anyway werewolves (lycans) are hardly original anyway, they've been used a million times before in other stories in which Beth have taken influence so the name in which they could be given is hardly a big deal

Gameinformer tells me they put in Werewolf skill tress and vampire lord skill tress along with being able to change ur appearance *face wise* and some other goodies

Pics or it didn't happen.

------------------------------------

I call them Lycanthropes or werewolves.
Lycan sounds like a sort of plant growth to me :/

--------------------------------------

Also I see no reason to raise the level cap :/ by the time you get to 81 you will be so overpowered its ridiculous.
My highest level character is only in the 60's (with 150-200 hours played) and nearly one-shots everything.
I never have played RPG's to level up my character, I have played them to experience a story.

The problem with a vampire or werewolf skill tree is that it would offer more levels, but it would REQUIRE your character to be a vampire or a werewolf to get the experience.

You could have the perk tree linked to kills/feedings instead of level.

No that's exactly my point. You need to feed or kill as a werewolf to gain EXP for that skill tree. Some people might hate it just for the fact that if they wanna get the max EXP for their character they'd HAVE to become a werewolf or vampire.

What I was saying is have it completely unrelated to you other skills, no normal perk points ever go into it and it has nothing to do with your level.
Just have stuff progressively unlock as you feed on more enemies. No EXP involved.

Say 10 enemies nets you a choice of extra transformation or faster transformation, thicker hide, sharper claws lv1
20 enemies for lv2
40 for lv3
Say feed on 200 enemies to master all werewolf perks.

Keep the lv cap at 81

If this is what you are saying then we are in agreement. I have a feeling I may be misunderstanding your post.

I don't see how that's different from anything else. As it is, if you want to gain the max EXP, you have to do everything that gives EXP: spells, combat, use both kinds of armor, sneak, multiple weapons types, etc. I don't think that is how most people play, but you can if you want. Personally, I doubt I will ever get a character to max EXP, because I'm not going to things just to get EXP if they don't fit my character concept.

I hope not. Lycanthropy and Vampirism are diseases, not skills.

I do think it'd be interesting for vampires and werewolves to have their own skill sets, I'm just not sure how exactly it would be implemented. Perhaps a few extra perks for whatever disease you have but at some point things would have to remain on an even playing field between the living, the undead, and lycanthropes.

In the dawnguard trailer am i the only one who thinks that when he said "you have returned,my daughter" he's saying that you have returned HIS daughter and not your character. And how would a new skill tree work ...i mean some of us have are characters to the maxed and such....

The only reason you are at max level is because you have everything at 100, if there were more skills, you could level up more, there is technically no level cap in this game.

I really hope not. The whole vampire vs werewolf thing is so overdone and cliche.

I think it'd be best if the Dawnguard weren't exclusively lycans, but still welcomed lycans into their ranks. It'd help to have some powerhouses, and lycans would not be a burden on the Cure Disease potion supply. ;)

What is peoples obsession with leveling up?

No offense I mean, I do weird stuff in games too...

but I don't see a point of leveling up a character to max level just to say you maxed out your character... I like my characters to remain between lv 25 and 50 because the game seems most balanced at that point.

besides getting all skills to 100 and being able to do everything, I see no point in maxing out. Where is the fun/replayability/roleplay if you do everything with your one character?

I mean in other games you can grind one thing to level up and put the points into something actually useful to you, but Skyrim you get better at something by doing it. The only thing even worth grinding is smithing if you want to make really OP weapons.

but again OP weapons take the fun out of it for me. I have characters who have gone well into the lv60 range, but my main character is only lv 35... I beat alduin using a skyforge steel sword, dragonbane, and wolf armor.

there really isn't anything in the game to require a max lvl... not even an achievement for it.

I mean I really want to know, can someone explain to me what you get out of maxing a character out? I didn't see anybody who craved that max level until recently.

I would like new skill trees definitely, but not the diseases of the werewolves or vampires maybe if they had different stages of the diseases progression along a tree that would be fine I guess hut they should have variants in the stage of their power based on the progression of their sickness.

I would like other skills such as spears/pole arms, athletics and acrobatics, maybe have unarmored traits return. Variety is always a plus in any ES game.

Seems this DLC is including a lot of stuff that was created during Bethesda's (gamejam) week.

A big thing in the Jam video was Vampire Lord followed by Lycanthopy skill tree..
I'm really hoping they include Lycanthopy & Vampirism skill trees into the DLC.

Upgrading your abilities for your Vampire would make the value of Dawnguard awesome.
Also including Lycanthropy would make us Werewolves not feel entirely left out while slaughtering Vamps.
Perk trees have been leaked (unfortunately I wanted to know for myself) and there is a Vampire Lord perk tree but with only 3 abilities. Turn into a swarm of bats, lift people off the ground and drain their health, and fly fast while hovering on the ground. Werewolves get a perk tree if I'm correct but that hasn't been leaked.
