Crossbows as a vampire

Ok cool  could you link the vid because I don't think I've seen that one and I've seen quite a few.
Are we allowed to link vids? I have been gone so long I forgot the rules on that! Its on the G4 site. Video is called "Official E3 Preview of The Elderscrolls V: Dawnguard" not the "extended version" mind you.

Arrows! Why the hell were arrows left out of smithing? It's not like arrows are so rare that it would unbalance things. But they did say we could forge bolts.

I love the looks of them, apparantly there's only two types though, steel and dwarven

I heard that we can smith more weapons of mass destruction.

no ebony Crossbows well -_- at least we get dragon weaponds
Oh and by the way, if they are like they were in Morrowind, the Dwarven crossbow should provide massive amounts of damage per strike. Bows will still have a higher DPS though.

True dat! I wish to either use my Breton mage character (who by the way has 100 destruction and some powerful spells to boot and conjuration) or my steathy assassin!

I'm still psyched about crossbows returning!
I'm going to make a build specifically around crossbows. Pure b4da$$ weapon.

Haha, I know what you mean! When mounted combat came out I made another character geared around that!

I am forced to use my 1880 steel arrows as i dont want to use my 100 daedric ones on fear of losing them, but on a leaked screenshot for dawnguard, i saw on the dragonbone smithing menu 'dragonbone arrow (24)' which leads me to hope that with crossbow bolts, arrows too are now craftable :'D

I truly hope so. Slightly off topic, has anyone ever had a bunch (say 411 or so) iron arrows get stuck in a container?

No not that that many, can't say i have im afraid
Yeah its the weirdest thing. In the chest in Breezehome's bedroom, something like 411 iron arrows are stuck in there and I can not get them out! I tried reloading, having followers take things from it, and adding more arrows but nothing works! I find iron arrows are good for pests like wolves, skeevers, rabbits, deer, and low level bandits.
Any way back on topic, the way Matt talked in the vid did make it sound like only hunter types would get crossbows. I guess we will just have to see.

I'd use my crossbow as a primary weapon, my characters a hunter/assassin stealth character, and a crossbow would be perfect for him :D

I would have thought that crossbows would be great for vampires to have too, at least equip a few their thralls with them if balance is a concern. An uber powerful vampire lord would probably not bother with such when he/she could just tear folks apart with their bare hands, I guess. Maybe the construction of crossbows is a closely guarded secret by the Dawnguard or something.

I wonder if BGS will modify the sneak perk tree to include xbows with the 3x bow damage perk. Of course xbows probaly have three times the damage of normal bows.

..Please do not name them 'xbows' ever again.. and they are used by the archery perk tree so i guess every perk affecting the bow will affect the CROSSbow too

Yeah, I'm sure the sneak perk will work for crossbows. The base damage will probably just be greater on the crossbows themselves. And they have a built in chance to stagger enemies.

The downfall is reload time, but if you have a good crossbow, good archery and the right perks, it should be a one shot kill anyway ;D
