Does anybody think Fallout 3 was more detailed then Skyrim?

As in Conan styled I mean as in, how should I say,,,Brutal, Dark, and more about the darkness inside sentient s then the darkness outside.
Wanna know how dark,
Spoiler
A necormancer kidnaps, Tortures, raqes, and raises young woman as he undead six servants
You would not see that from other fantasy titles.
I get what you're trying to say, I'm just saying it's not as unique as Fallout. If you say Conan styled, then it's like Conan, similar atmosphere and such. So, if it similar, it's not unique.

Fallout itself is a spiritual successor of wasteland.

Fallout is by far one of the most unique games out in the market these days but then again so is The elder scrolls, a lot of people think TES is generic fantasy game but it isn't even that generic is you read most of the lore, Skyrim is no exception to this.

FO3 is more detailed because in FO3 the environment is a cold barren wasteland that doesn't have many survivors. So Beth had more space to make each place more detailed. With Skyrim, the environment is more lively so Beth had to fill it up with as many interesting things as possible without going over the limit.

Well, they are almost the same game, as it had Interplay devs on it. The name just had to be changed when Interplay completely took it over from EA.

Wasteland is to Fallout, as Fallout 1, 2, Tactics, Brotherhood were to Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

Skyrim is still unique, in that it takes the generic sword and sorcery RPG style, and puts its own twist on it. I still find Fallout to be more unique. May be more of a personal thing.

I have to agree but I do love Skyrim. Fallout 3 goes down as my all time fav game and even New vegas wasn't the same for me it was nice but my first play I actually felt let down and until they fixed (the at the time serious) companion bugs it was a total let down having pre ordered it way in advance.

I am not sure another game will ever capture me the way Fallout 3 did I remember finding a holotape where a woman is crying saying "I can see the clouds from here" "I can't believe it's really happening" and it sent serious shivers down my spine no other game did it quite like this for me anyways.

I find Oblivion had a lot more substance to it as well other than the boring gates which became quite the same after closing a couple.

Er well wasteland is more of after the cold war as it happened during our timeline, with the exception that it ended with a nuclear holocaust then a fallen empire, wasteland and Fallout are very much different in many ways, the only similarity being that they are post-apocalyptic games.

But yea, skyrim is a very unique fantasy game and does have a conan-like theme to it especially since its somewhat grimdark at times and has very unique locations and creatures.

Skyrim's atmosphere and setting is completely different then games like, dragon age, it's very iron age, conan styled, It's kinda low fantasy, unlike in oblivion were there's unicorns dancing around in glades, its very dark.

Where there's A unicorn dancing around in the glades. There weren't more than one.

While it never got tiring for me to see some of the same buildings literally over and over again in cookie cutter fashion I chalk it up to them wanting to be cute with their release date and not being able to finish a lot of the things in game.

The patches have been having a tendency to make things worse.
Also 1.6 did not fully address the respawns, enemies in the wilderness and along the roads have yet to respawn. This has been broken in some way since 1.3 and its still partially broken.

The plant life respawning in the world has been broken since 1.3.

me personally i don't like when things respawn. to me it just breaks the emersion. i hate it that i can go and kill the carrage driver in white run caome back a while later and there he is again just sitting there like i never even killed him.

or goin to some bandit hide away killing every one there and then again come back a little while land there all back.

so to me i personally hate resawning cause i just down't feel as acomplished when things respawn. wild life in some exceptions is ok but i really just want to once see how long it would take to kill every one and thing in skyrim to the point where there is literally nothing left to kill.

i think that would be awesome.

You want the world to be void of life by a bug, things should repopulate things should not be dead its boring when you play characters for hundreds of hours and I play some characters for thousands of hours. I think I am going.to ignore this post here with a parting statement.

A bug this serious that kills the game needs to be fixed.

After reading through your comments, I have come to realise that I am just not exploring enough or looking for these things. Granted I don’t read lore books/journals, so I suppose thats one problem I will tackle. I do feel however that Fallout 3 still had more detail going for it, ok Skyrim has 100 handcrafted dungeons, but so were all of FOs. Are you guys forgetting the first time you explore the museum, or the first time you ventured into the school, or the first time you laid eyes on tenpenny tower? These were all ‘wow’ moments and I haven’t had nearly enough in skyrim.
Maybe this is part of the setting in Fo3, it is a different game that we haven’t seen before and maybe I am just more of a fan of the post apocalyptic game word, I just found it sad and and so depressing but at the same time so intriguing.
I will continue to love Skyrim, and I will continue to search for these details that you guys have proven to me exist : )

fallout 3 had lesser graphics and whatnot so more room for "stuff" in the world.

would you prefer if skyrim looked like fallout and had more stuff in it?
