Random Werewolf attacks...

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 4:02 am

The problem you are seeing is no doubt related to the large number of random encounter types available. With so many types of encounters possible, your odds of seeing a particular type are rather small. Just like I have been looking for a water breathing helment since level 10, but only found one at level 55. Since I installed DG I have now seen, twice, two giant frostbite spiders attacking each other. I never saw that before, but who knows, maybe it was there before? Also, just before DG came out I had been playing for 100s of hours and didn't think I would see anything new, then all of the sudden some guy comes running up to me asking for something to cure disease since he was just bit by a vampire. Lord only knows how many new types DG added, meaning the chances of seeing a particular event will be even smaller.

I bumped into 2 last night, I was in the mountain range above Dragons bridge when I bumped into 2 werewolf Vargar fighting a 3 man vampire group. So out of curiosity I changed to wolf form just to see if the wild werewolves are hostile towards a player controlled werewolf, guess what.... They are hostile towards a fellow werewolf  Even the ones locked up in Gallows rock will help you kill the Silver hand if you let them out then change  So what problem do these wild werewolves have? Anyway... the fight was over in under 2 minutes, werewolves and vamps, so I waited to change back to check the fallen for loot and to my surprise I only get a wolf pelt from the dead werewolves, not a werewolf pelt :swear:
I'm a little bit let down by these wild werewolves, their not as strong as you would think, they are hostile towards a player controlled werewolf and you don't get a werewolf pelt for killing them. It's a nice addition but the way it's been handled gets a great big  from me.

I've actually had quite a few encounters with wild werewolves. Only some werewolves are hunters an farmers. Others are simply werewolf classes, like werewolf brute and werewolf vargr. I believe werewolf vargr are the strongest, and are actually quite tough (took out a nightmaster vamp, unlike other wild werewolves ive seen) I've seen them traveling alone and in pairs. They CAN be seen during the daytime. I also believe they are sometimes spawned with vampires since ive seen them fighting on more than one occasion. I call them versus spawns. For example, I've often seen arch cryomancers spawn versus arch pyromancers, as well as spriggans vs hagravens, dawnguard vs vampires, vigilants vs daedra, etc.

Wow I thought the attacks happened more often....I've been jumped in every hold several times and I wasn't even traveling on the roads.

I've found a few of the encounters when it was a fight between two things at night. Although many of the fights happen around the days of the full/new moon...so maybe thats a factor...

Yeah i would love to be attacked by a pack of werewolves at night. I wish nights were more dangerous in general, I think your chances of dieing at night are higher in minecraft.

at least skyrim doesn't have green monsters that explode and ruin everything you have achieved

I have not been atttacked by a werrolf yet, many wolves but no WEREwolves

Keep slugging, ever since my first encounter I've been attacked on a more regular basis, along with wild gargoyles.

I seen on the forums that people say it happens at night time and when you meet them there are famers or hunters when you get close to them they turn however I have the worst luck and never seems to get them.

I never see them either.

...

But maybe that's because I Snipe/Stealth-kill everything that moves... that might be it. :D

Beth should have just made already transformed wild werewolves spawn in the woods or snowy areas making the farmers the wild werewolves was a stupid idea.

They already have werewolves in the wild or are they just the wild ones in the thread? One of my characters has killed werewolves caught just hunting in the wild, they were like that, never saw them transform.

I do know for sure the farmers aren't werewolves.. At least the two I keep finding... I punched them and they just flee.

I am here to bring news, and a warning.. If you ever find a Hunter in the wilderness attacking deers, and the such, tread lightly for he might be a werewolf! Also, he does glitches upon transforming.. Very funny!

There is a Giant's Camp.. Can't remember the name of it but nearby this camp is a stream that will lead to a river fall which drains into a river... There is a small area right at the top of the river fall.. This is where Wild Encounters can be found and this is where I found the Hunter. If you want to find this hunter.. Fast Travel to the Giant's Camp, kill the giant and mammoths.. Then wait til night fall then save. Once you done all that, head to where the spawn is and hope for best luck.. Reload if you didn't got what you want...

I might make a video of this to help out.

They should have made werewolf attacks to specific areas. I remember reading the lore for skyrim and it said the werewolves are most common in the north. When I first played skyrim, I thought they would be somewhere near solitude.

Awesome, gives me an excuse to go giant hunting. No luck needed, I'm moon born myself and I'm more then prepared for anything. I've already tasted the flesh of my kin, kind of gamey

Most of my attacks have happened on the plains and in the mountains around Markarth. Maybe there are a couple " hot zones " already, we just haven't found them yet, would need either an army or a week or more of game play to search every spot.

Luck is needed. You may not always get the hunter.. It took me like 8 times to get him.. The first few times were Thalmor Related then some Vampires then I got the Hunter.. After doing it another time, I got Giants VS Bandits random event.

~Edit~

And yeh. I should do a video about it but it'll take awhile to upload it... Dial-Up is NOT very friendly, ye' know.

~Edit2~

{ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QkSBu89Hps&feature=youtu.be }- I just spent around 50 minutes uploading this... So it better help you, or others, out.

*snip*

I know that camp,
I thought you meant that I would prob. die if I managed to bump into the werewolves . I'll have to make camp there my self, that's the spot that I bumped into 2 gargoyles.
Thanks man

Its all a matter of a crap ton of random events to deal with. I've noticed some of my playthroughs I get some encounters repeatively but each playthrough has a different set than the others.

I have been looking for them since the Beta...found none. I travel the roads at night an look directly for random encounters. Plenty of Farmers and Hunters but they are all normal...so i kill em anyways

Bethesda needs to make the attacks more frequent.

Could always check out the link I provided for a good spot to check out for the encounters.. It does take awhile and a lot of reloading but works.
