when is PC and PS3 getting Dead money?

?? Community fixes, eh? I guess if they're helpful to you then go for it. But when the description says something like "fixed it so dogmeat doesn't have so many HP when you level up" it means that some arsehole has made a "creative" decision (the quotes mean I'm being sarcastic just in case you couldn't tell) to alter the game to their own liking. Anybody with access to the GECK can edit the scripts and what not to 'fix' the game if they want. For example, some people think it's a bug i FO3 that if you help the ghouls move in to tenpenny that they slaughter the residents anyways. If you read the scripts in the geck you'll see the actual dev comments that talk about the murder and the script which removes the NPCs from the game and adds their corpses to the basemant. In other words it was totally intentional. The community has hardly added anything of value regarding Fallout 3 or New Vegas. Oblivion has some good stuff but FO games do not. Oh wow! High res textures! Too bad the "artist" isn't an artist at all and their textures and bland and crappy. But hey, they're high res right! Oh look at these new hair models and faces. Never mind the fact that they look like plastic and the models are anime rejects with loli-ish designs. I guess a lot of people like that crap but those same people like child pormography so that isn't saying much. The "community" is a joke. If you want to 'fix' the game scripts then do it yourself, it isn't hard and Bethesda offers the tools to do it yourself

my my my, you must of been on nexus when it first started the >MAJOR< bug fix patch which only corrected a few, now they corrected 3,000 mistakes left behind by beth and 7,500 placement errors made by beth, the crashes are hard codded into the game, left by bethe$da, the geck does change it make moddifactions, go sit back on your eggs little one.

Personally I do not blame Microsoft for not bringing their DCL to the PC. What has the PC ever done for Microsoft? Microsoft knows the Xbox is where it is at. That is why any future versions of Microsoft Office will be discontinued on any platform other than Xbox. They know that future users of their products will demand the console version.

O_O

Oh I see what you did there lol!

The Fallout 3 DLC was originally "exclusive" to the Xbox 360, with no mention of it being released for the PS3. Several months later, Bethesda announced all the DLC was coming to PS3.

I don't get why you people are so surprised about the New Vegas exclusivity. I have no doubt Skyrim's inevitable DLC will be temporarily exclusive to the Xbox 360 as well.

No, what irks me the most is that it's not available on the FREAKIN' PC. I haven't read through the whole thread but I'm going to offer my two cents regardless of whether or not someone has stated something to this effect before. I have no idea how much Microsoft is paying Bethesda and/or Obsidian Entertainment for this deal, but can it really be worth blocking out TWO THIRDS OF YOUR POTENTIAL COSTUMERS?! Then again, I have no idea what the figures are on that either-this is obviously operating under the assumption that a roughly equal number of copies of New Vegas have been sold for each platform. I would assume however that the number of people who own the PC/PS3 versions would account for more than half at least-maybe I'm wrong. True, I don't know all the numbers but I still think they'd be making more money without the exclusivity deal than they are with it.

Also, just because Oblivion and FO3 established this as the "Status Quo" doesn't make that status quo any better-and add on top of that the fact that PC USERS, the very people who helped make these franchises what they are today (both the Elder Scrolls and Fallout franchises obviously STARTED as PC-only games) are being left out of the deal now-and this feels downright disrespectful to me. To be honest, I personally haven't been that much of a PC gamer until a few years ago when I discovered modding (five or six years ago, but I didn't really grow up playing the PC-only Elder Scrolls/Fallout games is what I mean to say), so I'm not so much offended for myself as for those people who have supported these franchises since their inception and are now being left out of the loop for DLC because of some petty business politics or something.

They should at least work out a deal where PC users will get the DLC like a month after the 360 version and then PS3 users maybe a couple of months after that. As much as a lot of us disliked Games For Windows Live, at least that let us have our DLC (albeit often very buggy and not placed in the folder we wanted it to be in) on day one.

Edit: I just want to state for the record that I don't feel that Bethesda Softworks or Obsidian Entertainment INTENDED to be disrespectful to PC gamers with this exclusivity deal-I'm not of the opinion like someone else in this thread said that they're "giving us the middle finger", I just feel that they really should've known better than to completely disregard that portion of their audience. If they did it this way intentionally with the whole "beta testing" angle in mind, well that's kinda just silly but at least I suppose that would mean they're wanting us PC gamers to have less buggy DLC, so maybe it's slightly less bad?-I mean aside from the fact that they're being cheap and cutting corners by not properly/fully testing the DLC themselves. lol

I don't even remember the last time I played New Vegas. I don't really care if the dlcs come to the PS3 or not.

OH & YOU KNOW HOW I KNOW THAT THE DLCS WILL COME TO THE PS3?

Well if you go look at your trophies of New Vegas. If you press X on it it shows you whether if you want to view the core games trophies or the dlcs trophies. If the dlcs were never coming to the PS3 then it wouldn't bother saying that & would take you directly to the trophies..

I'll say it then since they would have to be stupider than a brain-damaged crack-addicted, lobotomized chimpanzee to think they could pull this kinda of disrespectful garbage and not enrage their PC customers. This has to be the stupidest thing I've ever seen a company do. Especially without any explaination to the fan base whatsoever... "Getting the middle finger from them" doesn't even begin to express how we feel.

I don't get exclusivity deals anyway. They make no sense at all. Do they really think I (or anyone else with the ability to do 3rd grade math) am going to go out and buy an XBOX just to play this DLC? Why the hell would anyone do that? You don't go buy a Toyota when you own a Ferrari just because you like the upholstery... Insanity...

What really bothers me is that the DLC was obviously developed on the PC, which means that there are files for the dlc out there that obviously work on the PC, it would not be hard at all to publish them! Seriously, that is what bothers me about this, the same thing with every other game I want but it's console exclusive, you've already done the work for PC, what's the big deal?!!

I was thinking, is New Vegas available on the mac?

Isn't it just for 360,PC(Windows) and PS3?
And if Microsoft have exclusive rights, why wouldn't PC also get it? I mean Xbox isn't competing with Windows, they are both Microsoft.

Is it because Bethesda dosn't want to exclude just the PS3?

Correct me if I'm wrong

How could they not have announced the release dates for PC/PS3?

Why do they even do this? Seems odd that they would knowingly leave behind the PC/PS3 players for some extra cash from Microsoft.
One would think keeping their fans happy would be worth more.

Could be several things.

1. Like many other developers, they still dont know how to code games for the PS3.

2. But, sense the PC hasnt gotten it either, I'm guessing that Microsoft pulled out its fat wallet and told them to to put it on the Xbox first.

The previous is the most likely reason.

Also, hearing so many people using Steam gives me a tummy ache...it's a malicious program, it does things without asking, I won't have it on my computer.

I bought New Vegas, but I won't use steam, just skip it, it's not hard (and you all know what I'm talking about).

Your entire experiance will be much better without it.

???
I use Steam and love it. What does it do that bothers you?

Auto-updating without asking permission is completely wrong, it's a pop-up nightmare, and it's file management scheme leaves alot to be desired.

But hey if there's people like you that like Steam then they can't be doing everything wrong, just my opinion. :whistling:

You can turn auto-update off. Right click the game in your library, properties, and then turn auto-update off. With FONV as well you may want to turn steam cloud off as well, not sure if they ever fixed that bug.

And pop-up nightmare? The only time popups show up is when you start the program to show you the happy fun daily sales, and you can just hit X once and it goes away. Or are you referring to your friends sending you IMs on Steam? If it is the later, that can also be disabled.

The directory tree structure is annoying, but it done in a manner to assure that it can update games seamlessly (which is actually one of the primary features of Steam). It could be done better especially considering the number of multi-drive folks.

On topic however, I'm just somewhat frustrated because when the exclusive announcement came out before the game launched, it was widely assumed that the exclusion of PC was an oversight in the press release/comment rather much in the same light that DLC exclusiveness in FO and Oblivion were. Which was an assumption in error obviously. Most likely however, it just means I'm not as likely to purchase the DLC when it's no longer fresh.

given the bugs in the 1st DLC for fonv, i am glad that x-box got it 1st. Noq Beth can fix the problems before selling it to the other platforms.

Everyone keeps saying that, but they never do. I'm a PS3 owner and I know for a fact that the Dead Money DLC I'll be getting (next month, next year, who knows) will be just as crappy and buggy as the one Xbox players are playing right now. Seeing how glitched and buggy Broken Steel and Point Lookout were, I wouldn't get any hopes up regarding improvements now. There's no money in fixing old problems if you can focus your attention on producing new content, which does bring in cash. We all know there is one thing Microsoft, Bethesda and Obsidian are interested in most, and that's money.

Yeah, like they did with the FO3 DLC or Shivering Isles for Oblivion on the PS3. Fact is, the PS3 and by extension, the PC will get the DLC as exactly as it is on the 360 - glitches, bugs and freezes and all.

I don't get why people keep saying their thankful for xbox getting the DLC first so they can test it for bugs. I would rather it be tested on a platform where bugs can be better pinpointed. If there's a bug on the xbox 360 what does it do? Give a black screen or say disk can not be read error, versus per say if it were on the PC and actually displaying and error message saying fault at line such and such. That is assuming its not a simple script error in the editor.... The way I look at Bethesda/Obsidian is only hurting themselves by not releasing the content to PC. It's probably going to piss the PC fan base off enough they'll either pirate the DLC once its released or not buy it all, and yes I know the DLC is already pirated as it is but its only going to encourage it more. While I'm sure there's gonna be a number of people legitamatley buying the DLC versus taking a risk getting it any other form, it's still gonna hurt their sales. What I don't get is why you would release a DLC to another platform as if that would prevent it from being converted to other platforms? I mean we are talking about a game base here full of modders and its not like you didn't hand them the tools to help em do it. How long is it going to take for them to realize they've made a mistaken?

Your big text self-assuredness is cute and all, but you don't actually know any of that for a fact. Stop acting like your opinion is unquestionable truth and anyone who isn't aware of it and/or doesn't accept it as ironclad gospel is somehow at fault.

Furthermore, it's absolutely silly to act like people asking this question or complaining about this is somehow an affront on you. If you don't like reading these posts, don't read them.

As PC users already have a massive amount of extra material given to us by the modding community for free, I can't understand why anyone with a PC would care what x-box users are getting, free or not. I know my game no longer resembles vanilla much, and hasn't for a long time.

Sturgeon's Law. Sorry to say it, but not much on Nexus is really that good. Or substantial. Especially since the mod community has had barely two months since the game came out.

Even if a DLC for this game (or other BGS games) isn't all that good, there's still a smorgasbord of new content that modders use.

yes i know that we have endless amounts of possible mods but we are limit by the PC itself! voice acting, lip sync, anything that requires us to do work is not a mod but a job, since we have to make it, thought it may be free, and we still have the chance to add on the DLC's ourself, we need the DLC to make the stuff in the first place. i my self would rather have something that was professionally voiced and created then having to make the whole of seira madre off a GECK, let alone some minge back that made it. with all the possible people to make it, he could do countless mistakes n stuff to ruin that mod potential, maybe he might just leave the WiP alone then we have to hound him down or plagerize and have lots of fans h8 u for making it better and blah blah blah i seem to be mumbling on but you see my point right? rather have a professionally made say... medi-evil cart, a normal person cant make on exactly like they did 500 years ago, it'l be all modern n stuff yuck... ignore all this stuff take ^above's example

Ha, how many discussions will we have on this? The Dead Money dlc has not been announced on a specific date for the PS3 and PC. You'll have to wait until Bethesda's contract with Microsoft runs up until they can release it to other gaming systems. Answer to other comments, the dlc was very enjoyable but did have it's faults such as the engine not being able to handle it too well. The original game was fine, if you didn't like it and think the dlc is going to be the same experience for you then stop crying and get off these forums. Why did Bethesda sellout the PS3 users and more "shockingly" the PC users? Simple. Bethesda is a business, and like any other business it's sole purpose is to make money. Believe me, Microsoft has plenty of money to throw around to make sure their console stays ahead of the others. Answer to another comment is that more than likely the Xbox 360 will have the next dlc exclusively again, so long as Microsoft is pleased with the sales from the first one. And last, back to my first answer, I expect the PS3 users will get the dlc next which will be a good few months and so on to PC users who will be waiting for what seems like an eternity. Well, I'm glad I can rely on Microsoft to buy me dlc for my games first.

I think it would be so great if we could get a couple of topics pinned. Specifically a topic like this, and also a topic about the game ending. Then forum noobs would see those pinned topics right away instead of missing the dozen or so that have fallen off into obscurity. They'd see them, contribute to them, and then we could have all that... stuff... in one tidy little area.

I know it won't happen. But, man, would it be great if it did.

A man's got to have his dreams anyway.

Posts went away.

No platform bashing is allowed here.

Any hints about pirating the game/dlc is a very bad idea. Very detrimental to the continued existence of your account.

There is no official announcement that the dlc will be exclusive forever. If it is a business deal for a timed exclusive, they won't be allowed to announce anything until the nda is expired.

I used to play pc games alot, it seems the market for games is rapidly changing towards console type platforms, it would only make sense to sell the DLC first to the bigger part of the gaming community, which im afraid to say is the console players. Xbox revolutionized the console by adding so many more options that players can use. I can argue the pros and cons forever but to be honest why bother, get an xbox or dont, its all up to you.

I felt, and still do feel , enraged and sickend, and so very, utterly disappointed that this hasnt been released for the PC. Ive played all teh way through morrowing, oblivion, fallouts and cant believe what im seeing happen here. Its a real middle finger, screw you, were going with the corporate money before our real fan base who got us here. I just cant understand why they just cut out such a large part of the market! Is MS lining their pockets with gold? We can only speculate as there seems to be no public explantion at all! I really feel f*k them.. someone will come along and create a better game with next gen graphics instead of the tired engine, and who know how to treat the customer right, cos they know longetivty is based on that. Am i dreaming? lol
