Is Fallout 3 New Vegas (PS3) too buggy to be worth buying?

Psh. Dragon Age? Don't bother. First one wasn't even that good. Environments are small, restrictive, and mostly non-interactive. NPCs and the interactions therewith feel contrived and unrewarding. Battle dynamics are stilted and awkward. Felt more like a watered-down version of Oblivion to me.

I like Tetris. Surely Dragon Age isn't smaller or more restricted than Tetris? :lmao:

I don't see the comparison. One is a puzzle game, while the other is an RPG. Besides, Tetris is an old game that happens to be quite good and therefore timeless. I'm trying to comment on a recent game (series) that I feel falls short of contemporary game design in several key aspects, of which tetris was definitely not guilty when it was introduced in 1984. It's like telling me I shouldn't criticize a 2011 model year car that doesn't have ABS, cruise control, GPS, power doors and windows, remote keyless entry, etc. as options because your 1984 Volvo 240GL station wagon still runs great.

I'm just saying I don't (necessarily) mind restrictions. Judging by the reviews Dragon Age seems pretty fun, definitely worth a try at bargain bin price.

However, with all of its flaws, FO New Vegas is still enjoyable, especially if you enjoyed FO3. New weapons and ammo, as well as the ability to have a mechanized companion in addition to you human companion make gameplay even more fun than in FO3. If you don't have a problem with being vigilant in your saves, you should have a good time with this game.

I have played F3 on the PC regular edition and the GotY edition both on the 360 and PS3 and crash wise it is much more stable but overall I have to agree with your statements, also having experienced aforementioned bugs. I had to deal with 2K and there horrendous Bioshock 2 support and compared to that situtaion this game has been well supported (again by comparison). There is just so much content to enjoy and prior to DM it was actually pretty smooth for me, but I rely heavily on guides and hints to resolve things versus just getting annoyed and cursing the system which I still do time to time.

It took them along time if anyone remebers to resolve all of F3's issues and with more DLC's coming it would be crazy to think they have given up supporting the game. I have seen games get abandoned and when they stop short of releasing promised content then you know support is in trouble.

I had very few problems with Fallout 3 but Fallout: NV is a completely new story. It's bugged as hell and constantly freezing. 10 or more restarts in under an hour is not uncommon for me. Vote with your money and stay out of this piece of sh*it implementation of an otherwise superior game. Or just ditch your PS3 and run this game on another platform. Clearly we PS3 owners are a f*cked bunch not worth the attention of the clearly incompetent developers of this botched product. Wish I could say something else, but I can't. This implementation svcks big time. The only thing that can save the developers face is that a patch resolving the PS3 issues is released soon. Somehow I believe that's not gonna happen; ever. No more Obsidian/Bethesda productions on my machine until they fix this epic failure.

Just dropped by to add my salt.

I'm dropping this game permanently. I've restarted 4 times without being able to complete the game, because of some broken quest. There's just no way you can play it without the wiki, making sure the path you're taking isn't going to break the game. Most quests are completely botched, incoherent and generally badly designed. That's not even counting the little usual glitches (crashes, slow downs, etc..). Fallout 3 had those, but at the very least the story made A LOT more sense and didn't break at every corner. I mean this doesn't even have ANYTHING to do with the engine, it's a CLEAR LACK OF QUALITY ASSURANCE. As if no one actually even bothered testing this garbage.

IMHO Obsidian made a mess out of this game, which is unrecoverable. I'd normally add how I hope some of their managers get fired and all, but I don't really care, it's the last game made by Obsidian I ever bother with. I should have returned the game to the store and get refunded when I had the chance.

So in short: NO, THIS GAME ISN'T WORTH WASTING TIME ON, EVEN IF YOU GET IT FOR FREE.

Well, seeing that i buyed the xbox version of Fallout 3 and had a blast. Even bought every dlc to it due to that it was freaking awsome. I have to say no when it comes to F:NV for the ps3. Dont know what i thought when i bougth the game just recent and at the same time took the trust i have towards this game dev and actually bought the Dead money dlc before i had even tested the game out... But i guess i now know that the i shouldnt trust this dev/publisher anymore.

To be more clear for the OP, bought the game.. Played around 1 hour and then i got my first freeze on the ps3. Had to go and hard reboot it.. Wasnt that bad.. Just came from the hell thats called Black ops so 1 freeze i can handle ^^ seeing that 90% of my playtime on black ops was hangups..

Well, another hour in and theres cliping issues.. Npc's stuck in roofs so i cant talk to em.. Npc's stuck underground.. You can see their name but cant interact with em.. And now just recent i got my 10th freeze..Gonna load up my game now to see how long i'v played so far; Level 7:Ranger of the wastes(Play time 011.41.23) Darn.. thats around 1 freeze / hour.. Ofc add all other bugs like graphic glitches that i'v only seen on old over heated graphic cards.. Npc's behaving weird.. Not being able to turn in quests to npcs due to that their stuck like 5 meters up in a roof or under ground.. even after continued reloads of the area.Stuttering(like lag every 10th step your char takes)
Sometimes keeps up for 2 sec. Theres an issue with Vats to that i'v noticed. Sometimes it gets laggy like heck. Most times when theres a fight and your oppenents go up above 3-4 ppl. Frame drops.. Darn this could go on..

Op, i suggest that you skip this title. Not worth the cash, mayby when its rls'd with all the dlcs like a GOTY version.. And then wait around 1-2 years so the price is right.. Like around $10 then... just then it might be worth it.

But for me.. that allready bought the crap.. guess i'll have to play through it atleast once, even tho crashes will occure.. Only hope that the end quests aint broken or anything..
And for all the "[censored]" ^^,
Just so you know i love the series, own all the previous titles and well.. have a love hate relationship to this title, all other titles have been flawless in my eyes.. Sure there was some issues with Fallout 3 on the xbox but they sorted it out mostly. Yet.. This title... Cant find words for how to describe it other than.. Unfinished.. The game aint done, yet they have sold it..
If there's even 1 beta tester in the credits at the end i have to say that well.. Dont bring that dude to the next installment because he/she/they failed. For me this game is so much epic fail its sad, only hope that the devs prove me wrong and patch this [censored] up big time so that we that love and support their games get the experiance we deserve.

For me, the F3 issues were not resolved even after getting the GoTY edition. It still froze (hard freeze requiring turning off the PS3) and it still glitched. They always patch the game with the release of DLCs to integrate the DLC to the main game. Will the patches fix stuff? Yes. Will it break stuff? ....

I had issues with F3 but my GotY edition plays just fine. But I know the F3 DC area like the back of my hand and all the DLC maps too (explorer perk rocks). And I know all the quest paths for F3 so maybe from someone who is completely knew to it I could see it being frustrating but I just clocked in some play time for old time sakes and not a lock up to mention. Made playing NV all that more painful. I miss my Megaton/Tenpenny suite depending on the character. Bobbleheads rule. I digress.

Hold off to buy till they resolve things; unless you want to use the wikia and youtube all day to find workarounds which not everyone has the time and patience for.
