I plan on playing with what my skills and attitude would be in the same situation.

Skills:
-Guns
-Sneak
-Lockpick
-Also add to speech

will be nuetral/evil. Evil because he takes survival advantages that usually involve taking whatever he needs. Doesn't wear any heavy armors. Long range stealth attacks, CQB involves fast paced shotgun and SMG combos. Favors pistols, SMG's and snipers. Occaisional gambler. No faction allegiance. Play all sides against each other if possible.

My first tends to be my main. In fact, always has been in games like these. He'll be a lone wolf, trying to get the best for him of every situation, and just generally do his own thing in the wasteland. He tends to swing to the 'good' side of things though.
Small Guns, Repair and probably Survival as tags, with Strength, Agility and Endurance to be highest S.P.E.C.I.A.L. most likely. He'll just be a young, wasteland roamer who loves to snipe.

My guy will be down on his luck. Good Perception/decent INT/ AGI and and avg everything else. Hes not a stranger to the bottle or jet either. Eventually e hopes to find what hes looking for.

Follows his own way mosty(Numero Uno) but that might change or not....

I'll probably be more focused in speech, repair, and lockpick, with Science as a side bar. A guy who gets [censored] done, but is as gentle as can be.

Hence I hope Animal Friend makes it back in.

Speech, Barter and Unarmed. So that I can manipulate people for the best rewards and making their life as miserable as I can using my awesome speech skill. Or kick their butt with fisticuffs should the situation arise.

A kung-fu manipulator. :)

Well since they've stated that you can get through the game using any kind of character I'm going to test that out first.. build a truly non-combat character and see what happens. hardcoe for the eating sleeping bit/Normal play.
stats will be something like
s 3
p 6
e 3
c 6
i 9
a 6
l 7

Speech
Medicine
Science

I've been kind of thinking about building a week and dumb character just to see if that works out.. It actually gets hard to lower stats enough..
s 1
p 9
e 1
c 9
i 1
a 9
l 10
sixy and Lucky.. dumb as a post and can't carry a thing.

Guns, lockpick, and survival? Does that sound good? Should I drop survival for speech or maybe repair? Will survival be really beneficial?

If I go with guns, speech and lockpick would it be best to support strength, charisma and perception? Or would agility be better than perception for lockpick?

I'm roleplaying as a vault-born guy from the mid atlantic who left his vault after its web of lies fell apart. With my switchblade in hand I made my way west. Tunnel Snakes rule!!

Pretty sure perception is best for lockpick. Except I would recommend saving a character with lockpick for a second or third character, because that way you can discover more things that are behind locked doors later. Also, unless you are intending to wield some of the big guns, I think agility would matter more than Strength.

Probably a Gun + Speech + Survival mix geared towards hardcoe mode. But until I have the game in my hands and I play with it for a little bit, it won't be set in stone.

Guns, sneak, lockpick.
High agility and strength. If (hopefully) there is some kind of trait that lowers strength requirements, then I'll take high perception instead of strength.
Most probably neutral karma.

I think im going to make mine kind of like a wasteland survivor type deal.
i'll play in hardcoe the first time and since weight matters a lot more i'll probably make my character pretty proficient in melee weaponry and use a machete as my main melee weapon. then have some small guns just in case.
and then i'll probably be more like a drifter, but who knows, i may establish a home up in the mountains somewhere but not too far outside of new vegas i guess.

it's going to be a lot of fun
i think im going to do a lot more roleplaying and stuff than i usually do, like in FO3 i really just ran through the main story and didn't do much exploring or leveling or side quests. so im really going to take my type and play this how it deserves to be played i suppose

First playthrough - S. P. E. C. I. A. L. - Not sure on exactly how to spend my special points, because I don't yet know all the requirements I'll have to meet, but generally focusing around high speech and assassination-style killing, as I prefer sneak mode over just running in and shooting everything in sight.

Traits - Wild Wasteland
?

Tag - Speech, sneak, small guns.

Other stuff I want to get up along with my tag skills - repair, lockpick, science, (melee or unarmed, it depends on which melee and unarmed weapons there are).

Faction alignment - NCR, because democracy is awesome and partly because I'm from California.

I'm not into being good or evil, I like being neutral and making random wild card decisions with no particular karmatic alignment in mind. (No, karmatic is sure as sh*t not a word)

I start on hardcoe mode....& if i like it ( which i no doubt will ) i cant see myself playing normal mode again, but we'll see.
My first play through will be a stealth/sniper character....i like to kill with finesse , style , & thought.
My 3 tags skills:
1: Guns
2: Repair/or survival...not 100% sure what survival does.
3:sneak

Eventually i may add to melee, just for the throwing spear ( perfect for stealth )
And i may put speech up too,assassins/stealth types are usually good at getting information.
Not 100% sure on my final stats, but i will have high agility & luck probably.
I usually cant avoid picking stealth/sniper characters, even on other play throughs...just addicted to them...but this time around i try many types, after my first choice play through.

Really looking forward to this game.....hope you all enjoy it :)

my first playthroughs are always mostly trial and error for the next MEGA playthrough.
so i'd most likely be found:
skipping the sidequests untill i beat the MQ,
collecting the BIGGEST guns i can get,
and i'd most likely get good karma.
and after my FIRST playthrough with my FIRST character.
THEN ill start playing like you guys.
