Proper Music?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:48 am

"Proper music" is a phrase that should be banned, along with "real music" and anyone who uses the words "what music should be (about)".

Also, I'm reminded of this Bill Hicks quote: "[T]he musicians that made all that great music that's enhanced your lives throughout the years were rrreal [censored] high on drugs. The Beatles were so [censored] high they let Ringo sing a few tunes."

There's a difference between promoting drugs and using drugs.

your tastes are way too like specific. The only music you would like is purely instrumental. Would reccomend The Beatles, but well the fact they got off their faces all the time and the song with a little help from my friends has the lyric "i get a high with a little help from my friends"

I have an awkward pallet too. But skins and gavin and stacey have gotten me into modern music more.

So you think that all bands sing about killing, drinking, drugs and the other stuff he doesn't like?

Just to clarify: I don't care about music I don't like being popular: It's music that promotes crap. I once saw on nickelodeon and advert about thier website that teaches kids to dress and dance like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyHVQT8aIBM, that's just not right. Certain people shouldn't be role models, yet they are regardless. It's a major contribution to kids hanging around on street corners, binge drinking and being anti social. It's far worse than what it was.

Kids these days... Get offa' my lawn!

Actually, one thing that annoys me about Britain today is the sheer amount of whining... But then I suppose that's what we've always been good at.

I asked if there was anywhere where good music was popular.

I know I can listen to music on my own, I just would like to not be forced to listen to terrible stuff in public places.

Really? That's your complaint? Every single human on this planet is "forced" to listen to music they don't like. Restaurants, book stores, parties, etc. I say get over it and ignore it.

EDIT: Oh, and your "good music" is located in the '60s. You basically removed all modern music with your criteria.

I like Lady Gaga, Lilly Allen, Alphabeat, a fair bit of rap and dance music, the Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, the Killers (at least their first album) and countless other bands that are or have been in the charts. So I'd consider those bands to be good music and clearly they are popular.

So in conclusion; yes, here is where good music is popular.

So, dressing a certain way promotes dressing a certain way, but using drugs doesn't promote using drugs?

I'ma answer that with a quote:

I'ma answer that with a quote:

If you aren't doing it, then why bother? No one controls people but themselves. They are the same people before as they are after. Is it offensive to you in some way?

Oh, here's another approach to your problem, as you don't want to listen to what you think is crap in public.
Invest some money in a good pair of earplugs.

Try Amon Amarth, they are a peaceful group singing ballads about viking villagers.
