PS3 NEW VEGAS - Who Has Played Through Without Many Issues?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 10:34 am

Everywhere I turn, I have heard about the countless bugs and issues with FO:NV. I am running it on the PS3 with the 1.02 patch and am up to Level 18 about 40 hours played and so far have only encountered one freeze that crashed the system (Just after i left the Old Mormon Fort and entered Freeside). I am very interested to here from people who have played through the game comprehensively without too many issues. At the moment, I'm just dreading running into these many issues, as so far this is one of the best games I have played.

Please let me know how you found playing through from start to finish and whether you found the issues or not.

I too play it on the ps3 and after around 60 hours, 3 freezes. Had many more issues with FO3 so cross fingers it keeps running well.

never had any issues with FO3. NV however, I played to level 18 or 20, 4 different times and everytime it had multiple lag, bug, and crash issues and by the end it is increasingly worse. To this day I've never reached level 25, and I rushed that play to the ending cause I was sick of wondering what was going to happen, beat it, and started over again. I got to level 2 on my way to primm and it crashed, it's scary how broken this game is! (ps3 player)

I bought it in December and have not gone online to patch it. I'm around level 24 and it runs smoother too. FO3 for me had lots of lag at times.

I read all the reviews and was ready for a frustrating experience; granted i just got the game yesterday and only a lvl 4 or 5 but no freezes at all so far, minor glitching like people disappearing for a few and a couple run ins w/ shooting (you use the VATS and lock on to someone and it doesnt shoos at them at all) but that's it for me so far. I just need to get my game up tho cuz in some areas im just gettin my ass beat lol.

are you on the PS3? if you are how can that be possible? we all have the same system and game. Has the screen never froze with you?

Here's on PS3, too, V1.02.
It certainly runs better than FO3 did with the DLCs installed.
There are certain areas the engine doesn't seem to like, namely Forlorn Hope, Westside and the Casinos.
However, no reason not to play the game. People tend to exaggerate a bit.

How could you say people exagerate a bit?? I have a hard time playing the game and everytime I pick up the controller I can expect numerous bugs, lag and at least a freeze in a 2-3 hour period! If your about to buy the game just hold off it is not worth it...

Basically bugger all until I downloaded Patch 1.03, then it was horrible for about a day, then seemed to fix itself mysteriously.

Overall the game has frozen less than Black Ops and MAG have and I've played it a LOT more than either of them (though MAG is pretty close...) so yeah, really few problems...

I've probably had less than 10 freezes. Plenty of times where it slowed down so much that I thought it was gonna freeze, but then it pulled through.

After my saves exceeded 7mb, game became really hard to play, hard freezing (meaning having to run for the console and hard reset it while it clearly overheated) at least one time per hour.

The story is really good, I love everything about the game, except that I stopped playing due to fear of destroying my PS3 with so many hard freezes.

Stuttering while walking the maps -> ok for a open world game / overheating and freezing the whole playstation each hour -> not ok.

Every time a bug occurs a Vault Boy crys.

I for one have had countless issues with almost every aspect of the game. HECK it was bugging out before I even got it if you want to look @ the 10mm glitch like that. I havent played it in weeks because my precious Ed ~D Lost his mind to a bethesda styled strain of rabies. Granted I have probably played WAY more than the average joe to experience so many bugs/glitches. But all that tells me is they must have an extremely inferior QT because of the fact they happen alot and fairly quickly into the progression of the story.

I have had a lot of problems with both fallout 3 and New Vegas but with my experience with the game I have discovered a way to cut down on the crashes. I have been playing the game , by that I mean at least three or four hours a day for about a month now; sometimes six or seven hours a day and have had the game crash ONCE.

DO NOT PAUSE THE GAME. I noticed that all the crashes occured after I left the game paused for short or even extended periods of time.

If you stop playing to go to the toilet perhaps just leave the game as it is or enter a building where there are no enemies. If you are doing something that may take a while save the game, exit and eject the disc(do not leave the disc in the ps3 as this may cause the game to crash when you start playing later).

As I have said before the game has only crashed once in a month and that is because I have not left the game paused. (Playing fallout 3 game of the year does not count because that f&*@er will crash no matter what)

Not pausing makes no difference for me. It lags, stutters and freezes from the beginning to the end. But sometimes it looks hopeless, low res textures everywhere and a frame rate of like 1 frame each 3 seconds. If I manage to hit the "start"-button at the right moment I might get the chance to save and after a reload it works fine until I either finished for this session or it suddenly freezes without no warning at all. No enemies nearby, nothing happening, just me moving forward, perhaps nearing "188 trading post" and the game freezes solid. Sound is still playing but the console is jammed shut.

Game working fine, no problems, then I decide to look left - BAD DECISION - FREEZE. Reboot restart reload. I decide to move forward. Bad decision again - FREEZE, restart, reload etc.

Of my 20+ PS3-games the only other one giving me freezings was Far Cry 2 - and that I think was related to loosing connection to Play Station Network. When I played FC2 (single player) I just unplugged the network cable and there were no more freezing problems. Fallout New Vegas is just a piece of crap not worth the money they charge. Simple as that. Buy it second hand or wait until it's on super sale when you can buy 8 discs and use them as "fancy" coasters if they won't work as a game. I paid premium price and got nothing at all. So much for "supporting the business" and stay away from piracy. Who are the pirates, really?

im now 30 hours ingame. so far i noticed 5 times freezing, and major performance issues at the ncr main base.

my output settings are scaled down to 720p, it helped alot on assassins creed brotherhood, so im using this on fallout as well.

it maybe helps you a bit. i suggest you try it.

i really love fallout...in every single point, but the bugs.

guess im gonna have to upgrade my pc, so i can start my next char on it.
