Ps3 version of skyrim is missing something.

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 9:59 am

If you buy skyrim for the PC you get all these great mods, and you get all kinds of new quests.
Xbox version will soon be compatible with the kinnect so you can actually shout.
ps3 has...well...it has lag issues..

what I'm trying to say, I think the ps3 version is due for its own uniqueness...maybe use the move to swing your sword idk...any ideas?

You can't easily implement Move for combat. It needs a different combat system with more freeroaming combat movements. Kinect's build-in voice recognition software is just easy to implement. But I don't think it really makes the X360 version stand out. From a control point of view it is cool that you can easily switch spells and weapons without having to pause the game but that's it. So it isn't as if the PS3 version suddenly became inferior to the X360 version.

What is there to add. I saw a topic exactly like this yesterday I believe.

Just because they are taking advantage of features on Xbox and PC does not mean they HAVE to do something for the PS3. Maybe if there was something on the PS3 that could be easily implemented into Skyrim, and they were not taking advantage of it, I would understand your point a bit more, but really, it does not make the Xbox version any better, its the same game. Its more of an update.

I do play on Xbox however, and I am a little interested in how Kinect will work, but I dont think it will hold peoples interests for long.

Its the money. I'm pretty sure the only reason this is happening on the XBox only is due to Microsoft's endless flow o' cash into game developers.

There is one thing you get with PS3 that you cannot get with Xbox or PC and that is you get the PS3 controller. Personally, I much prefer the PS3 controller to either an Xbox controller or the keyboard/mouse combo, which is why I play on a PS3. I don't feel like I need any special PS3 bonus package, although they really should give us a patch that allows all players to be able to turn off the GPS compass and sneak crosshair without looosing the status bars.

One main reason I dislike the XBox very, very much is that clunky controller. And after playing MW a little on my PC, I realized that the PS3 controller is the best controller I have ever used in my whole life (Other than the N64 controller  ). Mouse/Keyboard is really not all that bad and really intended for these games but since Skyrim was implemented with a console UI, I can't imagine it being very fluid and smooth on PC.

So yes, again I agree with one of Turja's many great points.

Yeah. Seems like the PS3 always gets the short end of the stick in terms of content. It's made even worse when we got a broken version of Skyrim for months after release. I'd change platforms, but I can't afford a proper gaming PC and I refuse to buy an Xbox.

The PS3 Version got shafted, the evidence grows larger each day. I doubt anythings going to be done aside from some attempt at getting the game fully patched. I have my doubts that is going to occur.

PC Version = Modding. Just like the OP said. This could outclass anything, even Kinect.

Xbox 360 = Get DLC's earlier, and have Kinect voice recognition.

PS3 = NOTHING.

Thanks for discriminating, bethesda. :P

Well, it is indeed inferior. But what did people honestly expect? They knew mods wouldnt reach consoles, and people should know that Microsoft does anything in its power to make the Xbox and its accesories as popular as possible. If that means paying Bethesda for the rights to get DLC first, then so be it. The Kinect thing is much of the same, I imagine. Microsoft probably want to make more people buy the kinect.

i think to add anythign special people at Beth would have to break out of the 'building for the lowest common denominator'

On the 'vanilla' PS3 I could envision using six-axis controller for aiming, or looking around, activating shouts etc..

but the controls are far too simplistic on ALL the platforms. we have to rely on the crappy menu system WAY to much as it is and that is because of the sophomoric approach to the console controllers.

example: instead of wasting L2 as a 'sprint' button, use it as a modifier key - this way you double the effective input combinations. It may take a bit longer to learn - but we all want to spend 100s hours playing anyway..

I play on PS3 and just found out recently that pc and xbox has random werewolf encounters ... really.
Its apparently a bug on PS3 and we never ever get to encounter werewolves apart from those very rare ones in maybe 2 caves when they are locked in cages. What a massive farce.

I am 99.9% positive there are no random werewolf encounters in any version.
