_QUEST RADIANT Idea for Children_

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 2:43 pm

Alright so kids can get boring after they lose their abilityy to have diologues w/ the player. I had a perfect idea of how to put them to use in a way every part of the community can enjoy them, both children-lovers and children-haters.

So what if they used that quest radiant system w/ all children by doing the following:

A diologue choice called: Give *treat name here* -- which upon selecting would give the child one of the following treats (therfore removing them from your inventory):
-Sweetroll
-Long Taffy Treat
-Boiled Creme Treat
-Honey Nut Treat
-Apple Pie

[this would would work kind of the same way the coin giving works. like when you give a coin to a poor person]

Upon giving them one of these treats, they would thank you a lot, and procede to give you one of the following quests or do one of the following actions:

-Tell you a rumor; similar to the ones you hear from bar tenders (saying they heard rumor when evesdropping on parents
-Tell you a location of something they saw (some kind of stash near town where they were playing) [similar to the quests torture victims give]
-Give you information [similar to that ghoul from fallout who tells you something about anything, usually interesting]
-Give you small amount of coin for it; saying that its their parents money or allowance and they hope their parents dont find out [similar to selling crop to farmers]

Ideas from Responses===
-retrieve a teddy bear for them/ item they love
-help find missing parent(s)

Any of these would make interactions w/ children better; also making more involvement w/ them ONLY if the player wants to; which makes it possible to be ignored by people who particularly don't like the presence of children in Skyrim.

Lots of characters ranging from bartenders w/ their rumors, to farmers w/ selling crop, and factions w/ their radiant quests, all have a way to interact w/ them after finishing all possible diologues; this is not true w/ kids, this kind of this would make conversation w/ them still possible even after finishing quest lines, while also making more use out of the treats and other foods alike.

List of benefits====

-Everyone can chose to do the kids quests or not; making it easy to ignore children
-better use out of the foods (specifically sweats)
-puts that awesome radiant system to use AGAIN
-adds more possible dialogue to a wide range of child characters
-something to do after completing the main story and all other quests.
-an easy addition w/ a simple patch

If you have any other ideas of what the kids could do upon awarding them w/ treats, please post it; I will add it to the list.

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be.
I probably wouldn't use it myself, as I find the children in Skyrim profusely annoying (mainly due to the fact that they look and sound pretty much the same.)
But I'm sure there are people who would use it.

Yeah, I thought that's one reason why this idea would be perfect, because it was easily avoidable by those who want nothing to do with kids in Skyrim.

I would be far happier with the complete absence of children, but since that is not an option - yes, I think your idea is pretty good :)

I think that would be a good idea. They are their with nothing better to do. Though I'm pretty sure I remember a little boy asking for money to get something... 1st week I had the game ( 11/11/11 ) ... I don't remember if it was an item or a location.

you are probably thinking of Sond or Bottar; random kids who you can pay a coin and they will mark something on your map. (deep folk crossing)

Sond will actually sell you dwemer items, also. One of the only child merchants, like Babette.

I think we should be able to get some misc quests like I lost my Teddy Bear or my Parents went missing or something along those lines. Could be simple or complicated. There is one quest where you get to help a kid but I have not come across any others yet. The kids are worth talking to, I just wish I could do more for them. Not all of them are brats.

There are actually a few quests where you help kids
-you help lars w/ his bullying problem (bully is braith)
-you save this Fjotra from the forsworn and she goes to markarth temple and is Sybil of Dibella now
-you help Aventus by assassinating Grelod
-you help helgi and let her rest in peace (she is dead)

and I always give Sissel coins to help her out.
I wish Braith wouldn't have just disappeared though in my game...

You fail to help Svari because the quest glitches and leaves you with a stack of Amulets of Talos. (Not fixed in 1.4 so far.) Though I've noticed Svari loves me to death anyway. She always asks if I can be her mother. :ermm:
