Question. How did they do this? (Triss Armor in Skyrim)

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 12:51 pm

http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4708

Now I know this isn't the original uploaded file but it is enough to help illustrate.

I absolutely love the style of the Witcher gear, and was excited to see this because to me it means that Geralt's stuff is on the way... But here we are and still no true Witcher Gear. So I want to go the route that ensures it will be made. Doing it myself. If someone could talk me through it or direct me to a site that can. I would be extremely grateful.

@ Moderators- I am unsure if this against forum rules because CD Projekt RED has given an okay to using their meshes and resources by modders. if this is against forum rules then close/delete/whatever. Just know my post was not made with malicious intent

CDPR has allowed use of TW2 assets for user mods, as long as they are not used for $$ and proper credit is given. They are by far the coolest devs around (sorry Bethesda, who do not allow similar permissions for assets for their games). Thereofre shouldn't be an issue or against forum rules.

I recall that the STALKER devs have the same attitude regarding their resources. Hurray for eastern European devs. :P

I have a theory on this, I think they see it as cross game advertising. Which is usually very successful. For instance the Metal Gear/Assassin's Creed nods to one another

Of course. CDPR seems to get it. For example, they patched out the DRM in week 2 after TW2's release.

That's really cool of them, they seem do a lot to earn respect as devs with the way they treat their customers.
I'd love to see the 'robust silver witchers sword' ported over but I don't have a clue how to extract the files from it myself.

That's exactly what I plan to do. But I have no clue how. Thus, this thread came to be.

Well, the most obvious answer is PM the person that made it and ask them how they did it, and if they plan to do more.

To my knowledge the files uploaded to the nexus are ports of japenese mods (excluding the retexes which are made using the japanese mod's mesh). So that doesn't really work.

I just want to sy that the person who originally ported the Triss armor, also ported Geralt's and Iorveth's armors. As well as some other armors (Ezio's master assassin armor) to Skyrim.

I have them all in my game. I'm not sure if i'm allowed to link to the site though (its a Russian gaming site...but i'm not sure what *this*forums rules would be on that).

There was a thread a couple of days ago, with a tutorial on how to add new items to the game. I'll see if I can dig it up. It might be available only through a crafting recipe... but that's hardly a bother.

Here it is: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1286593-tutorial-making-new-smithing-recipes-pre-ck/

You'll have to read the entire thread, but there's talk of how to make a recipe put your new object in the game.

On this same note I'd like to see Shani's green dress in the game. I assume that CD Projekt allows stuff from both Witcher games to be ported? AFAIK Shani was only in The Witcher, not in The Witcher 2, but I don't have 2 so I don't know for sure.

Yes, they allow content from both their games from what I've seen. I haven't researched it much but my witcher gear in Dragon Age stated it was fully backed by CDPR on the download. anyways, I think I know what my first mod will be. "The Witcher's Armory" now I just need to learn how to mod in general.

Yep that's the one, I could probably easily port an oblivion sword over and I thought about doing the one from over at TES Alliance but I'd rather grab the high quality mesh straight from the game.
Wouldn't mind seeing one of those scoiatael bows ported over either. They were pretty unique looking.

Well i don't know how to make it a custom weapon. Right now it is a replacer for the vanilla Silver sword. I have to wait for the CS to make custom swords.

Well i had to make a mesh first befor i could port this over ;) The sword has around 2100 verticles. No idea how many the Witcher sword has. But don't think it has much more ;)

The Vanilla silver sword needed to be replaced anyway. I'm RPing Geralt RIGHT NOW and he is absolutely NAKED without his silver sword. (Although I don't suppose you'd be willing to make it replace the silver greatsword instead?)

It is replacing the Silver Longsword, not the twohanded one. It would look kinda weird to wield such a small sword in two hands :D Also if he swings it so slow ;)

Well, can I haz?

I now have witcher armor thanks to ElvenChaos, and if I figure out my current modding tools I might be able to resize it and set it to replace the two hand version (Which I think is extremely ugly)

I tried posting it on the nexus, and was confronted by the original author who to my understanding was against the nexus, it is now up on the nexus, uploaded by him. Although I'll pass you the link as it has a few other goodies as well.

The Geralt and Iorveth armours have been 'officially' released on the Nexus now (currently replacing the Wolf and Jester armours, respectively).

Unfortunately CDPR's generosity with their assets is somewhat loaded, since it's very difficult to extract their models from the w2ent format they've used. To my knowledge, there's only a plugin for Blender and it doesn't work with all the models.
