race of the dragonborn

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 8:30 pm

i was wondering, would it makes sence for mer and beast races to be dragon born? it just seems strange to see an elf or argonian to be the dragonborn.
The Dragonborn is a mortal with the soul of a dragon, race has nothing to do with it.

The true race is Nord and Vampire Lord, at least one Dragonborn anyway as the Dragonborn could be Imperial or any other playable race.

As others have said. Dragonborn can be anyone.

I would like to see a Dragonborn Sload.

It's a little like saying that the Dragonborn can't be a woman because the game, judging from the trailer (and some minor, annoying oversights in some comments), is made with a male Dragonborn in mind.

The Dragonborn can be any race, age and gender. Period.

I agree. A Dragonborn can be any race, however in this game playing as any other race seems off putting I mainly play Dunmer yet I have people telling me who the Dunmer are as if I don't know my own race. Also the chick in the Alchemy shop actually called me a Nord at one point.

Though that's also just because most dialogue doesn't take your race into play and change it in any way, which is why I get annoyed playing these games sometimes. It makes these amazing races feel obsolete at times.

I am not a lore expert but I believe dragonborn has only been of the human race. And I think that does not include redguards as their blood is actually different.
Obviously you can play any way you want but if you are into RP your choices are limited.

The Nerevarine was dragonborn, and he was "meant" to be a dunmer.

It's really what I thought , in Oblivion it was more race - open.

In Oblivion anyone could be the specific Champion.

Anyway , I play a Dunmer now , who is Dragonborn and I just RP it out , you know how ?

Well , Daerith didn't believe in gods , he thought they had forsaken his people , but after he saw the Word Wall in Bleak Falls Barrow he had a vision in which Akatosh told him of his destiny , since then he's a Nine Divines follower ( Yes Nine ! )

Well although females play TES , most of the players are male and I know a lot of guys like to play as a girl. Still the bigger audience will sympathize more with a male main character in trailers than with a female one because they can picture themselves easier in the shoes of a male dragonborn. I think.

Probably. What I meant was that only because the trailer Dragonborn is a male Nord, it shouldn't stop people from playing any kind of Dragonborn :)

(I have currently created four Dragonborn - three of them female, one of them even Dunmer. I imagine her, when she finds out she's Dragonborn, accepting her destiny with the knowledge that the Nerevarine was an outlander too, in my Tamrielic history in fact a Bosmer woman... ;))

The Dragonborn is as Akatosh made him/her.
The Dragonborn could have been a 15-foot tall Horker-man hybrid with neon pink skin that could shoot lasers out if his 37 eyes if he wanted. Probably would have made for a much more interesting game.
