Really!?! Why all the hate, dont get it

I was deeply disappointed with Mother Nature's release of "Milk". It predecessor, "Water", was a much better design.

1. The light-bending algorithms found in Water created numerous problems for inexperienced persons. Rather than working to remedy these issues, or create an optional tutorial for these effects, Milk was designed to be opaque. This follows a pattern Mother Nature has of removing features rather than improving them.

2. Water has a much more flexible engine. Think of the popular overhauls, like Coca Cola, Apple Juice, or Tea. The only major modification to the Milk engine is "Chocolate Milk", which requires a massive change to the very idea of Milk.

3. The Water engine has significantly better support of mod synergies. For example, applying the overhaul Lemon Juice, adding in a second instance of the main Water data, and applying the mod Sugar results in the popular "Lemonade" configuration.

4. Sure, Water is known to cause illnesses to the system it is installed into, but the community patch "Boil" is generally effective at preventing these problems. Milk has a similar propensity to cause issues after installation, but the "Pasteurize" patch is significantly less user friendly to apply.

5. Milk requires periodic connections to the cow (although rebellious elements have come up with a functional alternative "Goat") in order to continue using it. Water is much less restricted in terms of user rights.

6. While Milk had significantly more resources involved in its development, it simply isn't as satisfying.

7. As I bought Milk based on the strong reputation of Water, I find myself severely disappointed that Mother Nature sold out in the creation of Milk.

8. THe compromises made for mass market appeal undercut the excellent decisions made elsewhere in development, such as the close integration of "Indianapolis 500"

9. All in all, I have given up on MIlk, and have gone back to the much more satisfying (and heavily modded) Water to which I am accustomed.

No game can satisfy everyone. Those who aren't satisfied tend to be vocal about it. They have a right to be, I feel, since they have paid money for the product.

For the record, I am satified. I love Skyrim.
Copy and paste stock answer. :bonk: You may be satified but are you satisfied?

All babies start out as either Imperials, Bretons, or Redguards. Only if their mothers give them mead do they become truly Nord.

The next time someone calls me a milk-drinker in Skyrim, I'll telekenesis-throw a cheese wheel at their face.

Aww, milk is tasty you know. I just don't drink it anymore because our body doesn't really need it (the "it's good for your bones" argument is heavily under discussion, only the milk selling companies support it). Too nutritious while we barely do any hard labour anymore. And people wonder why diabetes is getting more and more common ...

Individual ypes of food are not linked with diabetes, but weight gain is. The reason why there are more cases of diabetes is because the Western world is getting fatter by the day. Not because some people drink milk. People eat too much.

Milk is disgusting. I stopped drinking it as a teenager when I realized it's cow tit bodily fluid. Even cows stop drinking it after they're babies. If you saw an advlt cow drinking milk you'd think it was mentally challenged.

Following this logic, one wouldn't eat cheese either.

Well done.

Funnily enough, the New Zealand health system also supports it.

People not drinking milk is a possible reason why osteoarthritis is becoming more common, particularly in women?

Believe me, your body DOES need it. Diabetes is caused by the high fat content. If you aren't doing enough exercise in your own life, that is your problem. You still need strong bones for healthy growth and development.

I'd sure like to know where all these "milk drinkers" in Skyrim are getting their supply

A few comments about raw milk, the need for milk, etc.

I grew up freegin dirt poor on a dairy farm(I live in Wisconsin) and raw milk was a massive part of my diet, because hey- there was like 1000 gallons of the stuff in a big stainless steel refrigerated tank every day. giant bowl of corn flakes with a bunch of sugar drwoning in mllk for breakfast(and sometimes dinner or late night snack), milk at every meal. I did not have health problems. in fact, the only ilness I had growing up were chicken pox at age 6, and a few runny noses and i got stomach flue 3 times between age 11 and 18. Now, growing up dirt poor also meant I worked by hind end off every day, and the other significant part of my diet was our garden because that was also on the cheap. but seriously, i probably ingested over 6,000 calories a day growing up, but i worked it off, i was like 2% body fat until I moved off from home to go to school. Raw milk is plenty safe if you know where it was made and how it was handled. handled wrong it can make you sick. but that is true for anything, just look at the recalls and SERIOUS diseases caused from bad spinach and tomatoes the last couple years.

Milk does not cause diabetes. that is absolutely hilarious to me. In a culture(at least in this country) where every freegin thing you look at has had high frutrose corn syrup added into it, or drizzled on top, or put in alongside sugar just for fun, etc, the idea that the lactose in milk, or even the fat would make your body chemistry go haywire is laughable. Do 10 sit ups for pete's sake if you are worried that a glass of milk will give you type 2 diabetes.

FTR "milk-drinker" refers to an infant svckling at its mothers teat, ie a helpless baby. Nord humour! Yes, they're basically all alcoholics.

Fixed.
Umm, you were a teenager before you found out where milk came from? My condolences.

Plus, flavorings in your food are actually crushed insects.

It's more about the color if I remember correctly.

Great post.

I was surprised though that you didn't get into the "dumbing down" effect that milk itself has seen through the years.

I can remember when everyone was happy with "homogenized" milk.

Then came "2%", a watered down version of the outstanding homogenized milk that many of us had come to love ... and we were told it would be "better" for us.

Then came "1%" ... an further "streamlining" of homogenized milk which stripped out even more of the "milk fat" content that veteran "hardcoe" milk drinkers had enjoyed in the heyday of homogenized milk.

And then there's skim milk ... not to mention the "soy" type milk which isn't even milk to begin with, not that "casual" milk drinkers would likely know the difference.

And all likely due to some dairy executive's decision to expand the milk market to boost their own greedy profit.

It's a tragedy.

I find that cream, although a bit heavy and not for the faint of heart, is very good despite being based off of milk.

It even has two amazing expansion packs, coffee and tea. Both are extremely well thought out and are easily enjoyable.

It also has many interesting mods, such as 'whipped cream', which allows it to be used on the ever so popular cakes and ice creams. It opens it up to a wider audience without diminishing cream itself.

Edit: I killed the thread. :(
