I guess my point is some dragons fly low you get about much time to fire an arrow, then there back up above the coulds 20,000 meters there is no actual way you can properly engage them i just find it very anoying!!

It seems to vary from dragon to dragon. I've fought plenty that land briefly from time to time. And the ones that don't, just find somewhere to hide until they come down. Then shoot your arrows/spells until they fly off again and then go back into hiding.

It does get repetitive and boring, though.

I don't like encountering dragons I cannot engage (the ones that just show up and fly around and roar for a bit then fly away). Arrows can't seem to hit them. What's the point of spawning a dragon if it's not even going to do anything? Very annoying.

If I see a dragon flying around but not landing, I just leave it.

Yeah only prob is when you decide to leave them is point they seem to like to harass you the most i mean by buzz bombing from 20,000 feet and not landing!!

Try moving to a more open area and equiping a melee weapon. Not entirely sure the melee thing triggers a land but pretty sure if the dragon has the space they will land, often right on top of you. Also make sure it's targeting you so it follows.

You don't like anything even vaguely realistic then.

I think that has happened to me once (there was nowhere for the dragon to land) but my husband was there and he was impressive with his bow and arrows. When the dragon got close enough I just shouted at me.

The times when I have left them has been when they were just flying in circles and not bothering me.

Dragons, I love em'. They are the only reason this character, among the five I have, still exists at level 53. I usually shut em' down when they become powerful.

He has a reason to be very tough.

What's realistic about a world with magic and dragons?

I prefer dead dragons to live ones, especially if I am the one that makes them dead. Randomly spawned dragons that simply fly away after a few seconds without even doing anything are simply a waste of time.

What I mean is that an actual Dragon might just lose interest in you and fly away. You seem to think the game should make them land for you every time they appear. I find that sorta strange and especially unrealistic. Certainly the game revolves around you but that should not be that obvious.

What annoys me is their lack of attention span. You know, the dragons that swoop down and attack you for a little while, then wander off to fight some random mudcrab?

Ha ha. They finally make dragons that behave as a dragon should and you're upset about it? Seriously? What do you expect this flying beast to do, land and let you take pot shots at it? It should fly and make dive bombing runs at you. That's how I've always wanted to see dragons behave in games. I get tired of the ones like they were in Demon's Souls where they land and just sit there while you exploit some spot where they take damage and you don't. In Skyrim they seem to have a mind of their own and land when they see fit or when you have done an appropriate amount of damage forcing them down. To me it's amazing and I love that they don't bow to my whims. I've even had a few fly off never to be seen and I'm not talking about the big boy. These were regular dragons that just decided to find something else to do. I guess I wasn't interesting enough for them. There are more than enough dragons in the game that I can get my kills in and have fun fighting them. If one or two decide they want to fly off that's ok by me. I like them being unpredictable.

You do understand Dragons are an essential part of the Skyrim main quest I hope. You are gonna have to fight a lot of them and they just get tougher. Ancient Dragons just kill you from above without ever landing, they seem to like just strafing you to death. They do have a very powerful shout/blast, can kill my maxed armored, level 53, expert hardness, guy in seconds without several buffs.

You might as well get to like them because they will be a big part of your game.

The dragons that don't aggro are the most annoying. Its just tease and a waste of time when they just fly around and dont get aggressive. It happens to me WAAAY too often.

I like dragon fights...for the most part. As long as they "behave" and don't bug out and start flying backwards o me (yes this has happened numerous times) its fine.

Also an occasional dragon will not "behave" when I use a certain shout that is supposed to make them behave.

Why not, when said dragon will land to fight and kill wolves, bears, and even mudcrabs? How realistic is a dragon prioritizing a mudcrab as a higher threat than an armed and armored human? Skyrim's main quest revolves around hunting dragons; it should not be difficult to both acquire and maintain their attention.

Exactly. Dragons can dive bomb me all they want; they can still be killed, which is what I want to be able to do.

Who's to say that the dragon prioritized the threat level of each creature? Maybe he just has a thing against mud crabs. Maybe one pinched his tail when he was a baby and now he wants to take it out on all of them. Like a human with a sword is any more of a threat to a flying fire breathing monster. Ok so he doesn't know quite how bad ass you are just yet but I would imagine that from his lofty height, knowing his powers, knowing how highly dragons think of themselves, you don't look any more threatening than a mud crab to him. Kind of humbles one I should think.
