Refund Please!

I bought this game new and for myriad reasons I was ready to return it the next day. What vexes me most is that I was going to buy Fable 3 but bought this instead. Friend of mine bought Fable 3 and I've since played it... substantially better game if not a bit overly streamlined.

Forgive me if this sounds rude, but if that's the case then why do you post on these forums? You want to come talk about the game you wanted to return? Or did you already return it and just like the conversation?

No I think he's just the only one who bothered to react to it. Other people are just choosing to ignore it, despite the rather pointed insult you tried throwing out there.

Whatever i do i seem to regret it afterward like that stupid insult but i stick by my point on this game being far too buggy and i read a dlc is getting ready to be released before they fixed the common random crashes

Because returning it is impossible so I continue to play it now and then hoping I will come to like it. Or that at the very least they will fix the main things I hate about the game with patches and DLCs.

Here's a review. Seems to have the same problems as Fable 2 to me. Haven't played it yet though. http://unrealitymag.com/index.php/2010/10/29/why-fable-3-is-an-embarrassment-to-video-games/

I think at the very least Bethesda should give us a public apology and some sort of compensation.
It's bad enough the game is unplayable but there's an announcement of a DLC? Why should we pay another 10 dollars when we've already bought the game at max price?
At this point I think I'd easily join a class action law suit because the incompetency and greed of pushing this game out before being playably complete is far beyond acceptable levels.
If Bethesda doesn't like the fact that we have to bring in the law because of what they've done with this game, they should have known better in the first place.
It's not acceptable in any way, no matter what any fan boy might say.

LOL this is hilarious I would PAY to see a lawyer who would take your case. Good luck finding a judge who will even take you seriously. No law against a buggy game. Their f-ing patching it all the time (at least on the PC and I see no reason why their not doing it on the consoles) I'm not getting all these bugs and glitches everyone's crying foul on and even if I was I wouldn't spend all my time on forums crying foul.
It seems its all about greed. The game companies are ALL trying to screw you over because its all about the cash.
I'm studying to be a game designer some day and these threads make me so discouraged because it will always be this way no matter how good a game is someone will want my head for even trying.

Well looking back at the history of the revived Fallout franchise, I'd say it's likely that the bugs will be fixed. My personal opinion on Fable though is that the first one was the only gem in that series. Fable 2 seemed rushed and the story was... Bad. I sadly have no more faith for that franchise. I'd only play it if someone gave it to me.

When I read these, I feel kind of lucky.

I don't know what's going on here, but I'm on a 360 and the freezes and glitches I've experienced can be counted on one hand. I've been playing the game since I picked it up on launch day. Got more than... I dunno now... 150 hours? Five different characters. Hit level 30 (once). Between all the characters, I've completed all but the Caesar's Legion end game quests and I've found and explored every location on the map.

I've had exactly 3 freezes. I've fallen through the ground 1 time. I have had 0 quest-breaking bugs. I had trouble getting one quest started but that was my fault.

So, yeah, I feel kind of lucky.

How is it that my game can function so well, but others experience so many bugs/glitches/whathaveyou?

I've had a similar lack of problems on my 360 but I rarely have problems on my console in general anyway. The Playstation 3 and PC versions seem to be having the most problems, but the Playstation 3 is marred with problems in many games and it's almost impossible for a developer to design a game that will work perfectly on everyone's computer (there are just too many variables to cover it seems).

I'm playing on PC and I've had only 1 time that my game actually froze. I'm playing on High settings on a gaming laptop too with a great video card but weak processor. I thought it would freeze more but it just simply doesn't.

I have never fallen through the ground, I've never had any quest bugs. I guess I'm just lucky as well. Maybe it will freeze more as I keep playing it? Who knows.

I'm happy. :vaultboy:

Sometimes I never know which side of the fence to be on, gaming companies should be held responsible for releasing bad products, but the tighter the regulations become the more they are going to move to console only games, their in house testing for example on PC could come out 100% bug free, but as soon as the game is released, it's assaulted by a myriad of pc variations, something they cannot possibly take into account.

I prefer the freedom of pc, so I'll take the bugs so long as the patches fixes them.

Since when can you not get a refund on games...? I've returned tons of games. I haven't done it recently, I think the last one I returned was Hitman: Silent Assassin. But as far as I know there's a 90 day waranty on games. If they don't work, you can get a refund. Just take it back to the store you bought it from with the reciept and tell them that it doesn't work properly.

I bought it from gamestop and it couldn't be returned. Now with a used game you can return it just because you don't like it, but new it has to be unopened.

It doesn't work like that where I live. If it doesn't work properly and you return it within 90 days, you get your money back. The only exception being if it not working is down to user error of course.

Only being able to return it if it's not open is a load of BS. Think about that. How are you supposed to know that it doesn't work if you can't open it? That is one of the most ridiculous things I've heard in a while. If the guy working on the counter in GAME told me that I'd physically assault him.

Well that leaves you with three options
rage and rant about it and hope that people consoling you will make you feel better
go to the store you bought it from and get 1/18th of the money you invested into it back
or enjoy it and ignore the downfalls and try to be happy with life
these are your options...

well one more you can attack the fallout game with a sledge hammer and then blow it up with fireworks... to each his own or her own

I complained my butt off when FO3 came out and most of the things I complained about got fixed in FONV (it was about content, not bugs). So complain away I tell you, someone out there might be reading lol.

Now that I think about it, has there ever been a fallout that wasn't buggy as hell?

I really haven't experienced the crashes to the extent others are experiences probably because I play the game unpatched and routinely use restore file system to clear the corruption.

The important question here is why would you want a refund for an awesome game like Hitman?

key words "on tha 360"....boy get a job save some cash and get a nice PC...im not getting on your case but trying ta help you...for tha money...

360/PS3 "x" ammount of dollars to purchase game.....never know when or if fixes will come....no mods which = no super extended content

PC...version...."same ammount give or take" of dollars to purchase game...not as many hangs up, crashes ect....dont known when fixes will come or if at all BUT can mod fix them shabby or not but better than nothing....and mods = potential for way more content and enjoying tha game for you caps......als o not to mention if ya dont like certain game mechanics or want easier or more difficult ect ect you can fix that stuff too

side note: this is not xbox/PS3 bashing...i had a PS3 and now have an xbox and enjoy them....but a game like this no freakin way...FO is awesome and i want to enjoy what tha devs gave us....not fell like its a chore to load up tha game....being not everything is tha devs fault in bugs and flaws...there are time and money and buisness issues (that frankly rob us all players and devs)...its easy to use a PC version to make changes you want

Ummm....complaining about a broken game is what drives the developers to fix it. It's everyone's right as a consumer to complain about a product they purchase if they aren't satisfied...especially when it's a product that's totally broken like NV.

I honestly can't believe they even put this crap out on the market. It's time we start holding game developers accountable for their products. This is becoming the norm...developers put out broken games to meet release date deadlines and then we shell out a premium price to play as the beta testers. We should all demand that they take a little more pride in their products.

I've had to delete some rather ugly comments, I see people sniping about platforms - and we don't allow platform bashing, and this thread is going nowhere.

OP, I am sorry you experienced issues and are frustrated by that. I hope things improve.
