Reload the mag!

I'm surprised you're not complaining about bathroom trips or backpacks.

Actually, i was going to post about that elsewhere, but ya, those are GREAT ideas too. Each has it's own cons, but adds to realism, and thats what i like, and they all have kink we'd have to figure out, but they arn't bad ideas.

I'm all for sure subtle realism but having to individually load ammunition into magazines & clips would just be hassle and to be honest a huge pain in the ass, No one in their right mind would want to play Fallout if it was that realistic.

Perfect, Bravo, I love it, realism!!!!! [no sarcasm intended]

like i said earlier, its just an idea, it's got kinks, i know, but it shouldn't be dismissed!

Maybe some people will like this idea and make it into a mod. To add to their idea of hardcoe mode. Maybe something where if you have a half empty magazine you can still add ammo to top it up. Would not work with every weapon and I have never tried that with any firearm before but other then that being forced to load ammo by hand would just be dumb.

Something that might make you happy if you don't already know. We can make are own ammo :D.

Well what could possibly done to fix the kinks rather than dismiss it?

IDK, it would be cool if you could give the spare mags and bullets to a robot butler ,like in FO3, and he'd do it for you while your out with the already loaded mags.

and before you completely SH!T on this post, i mean FO3 has robot butlers, not - In FO3, you can give ammo and mags to the robot. I know thousands of people would read that the wrong way.

Well, let's see...for ultimate realism, you'd have a minigame where you have to align each round properly to get it into the magazine. But that would be too much tedium, so you streamline it down to "enter magazine reloading mode, where each key/buton press or mouse click adds one round to the magazine with a random chance of failure based on skill." But then people complain about getting killed while failing reloads because they didn't "waste" points in their Magazine Loading skill, so we eliminate the chance of failure entirely. So now to reload your American 180 SMG you just have to hit reload then hit some button roughly 170 times. But then people gripe about that and demand the ability to hire NPCs to fill your magazines for you. But then people gripe about having to "pay twice" for ammo, once when you purchase it and once you pay to have it placed into magazines, so we do away with that and it's assumed that it's always separated into filled magazines- which puts us right where we are already, with the minor difference of a load of wasted dev time to make all the minigames, animations, and game mechanics that aren't used.

Any one else wondering how people go to the toilet in power armour? maybe it's like in Transformers when Bumblebee flicks of the cap and starts leaking break fluid over the guy?

On topic... it would become very tedious very quickly but I see where your coming from. Although I think you have to take these sort of things with a pinch of salt when it comes to games...

hey man, if you don't want your games to be as realistic as possible, play on easy, or there's always mario!

Yes because the Fallout series has always been the pinnacle of realism

Then again if you want to stick to loading every bullet by hand. Use a character that only uses break-action firearms and single shot .22s.

I wouldn't mind if there was a finite amount of mags on the character during combat. It would add something to the game if after firing off three mags from my assault rifle i was forced to either reload my mags or switch over to another weapon. it would keep us from becoming dependent on a single weapon and bring more aesthetic effects from apocalyptic cinema into the game. What I absolutely don't want to see happen is my character be forced to load mag after mag in the middle of the wasteland or settlements. In all likelihood it would dramatically reduce travel speed, and the animations/sound effects would get old quickly, and would probably become reminescent of the adoring fan.

Just my two cents

Don't forget the REALISTIC hours, and having to cross the miles and miles of almost empty terrain with the occasional vermin attack between settlments.
"Hey Bob, did you reach New Vegas yet?"
"Not yet, Jack. I'm still 35 miles out."
"Oh, you should be there by tomorrow if you leave the stick pressed in the forward position with a book."

Let's not forget the ultimate part of realism, if you die, your character data gets erased! because you only live once! Genius! Why isn't this being included already? The Devs needs to get to work on this if we wanna play the game by mid 2011!

In real life you can reload a 15 round mag in about 15 seconds - less if the spring is worn and you know what your doing, now think of how many mag you go threw in FO3....

500 mags reloaded would = around 7,500 seconds worth of putting bullets in a mag... I can find something better to do with my time then loading mag's in a game.

Boone: *looks at you suspiciously* "Did you just?..."
Courier: "Did I just what?"
Boone: "Vomit in your power armour?"
Courier: "No, what are talking about?" *eyes dart back and forward behind Visor*
Boone: "Oh, are you sure... I mean that noise sounded like you did..."
Courier: "Ha! Seriously me vomiting in my Power Armour please... In an unrelated note do you mind if we stop by the next bathroom?"
Boone: :stare:
