Reload the mag!

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 12:48 pm

This is kinda a radical thought, it just bugs me that in every video game, and most movies the hero, and the villains never reload the mag! This is not realistic in any way, even a 5 year old knows you need to put the bullets into the mag individually, before you put the mag into the gun for it to be able to anything!! Now i know this is huge, and i understand it would be a huge waste of time, but it would add to the realism tremendously. I think it should only be available on hardcoe mode and you should be able to purchase empty mags, full mags, and just ammo from vendors, as well as finding these objects on slain raiders. i think it would add more reason to use a house as well, like any real mission or quest you need to prepare, and if you do not, it could fatal. What do you think?

I always found it funny how magazines were sort of a given in video games... limitless and worth nothing. Seeing as how we can hand load spent shell casings, it would fit in, but I don't think there's really a point to it.

And it's magazine, not clip.

You know you can carry more than a single magazine, right? You can also suspend disbelief and imagine your character does his magazine refilling while "waiting" or bedding down or whenever else. Stopping to reload a mag in combat makes absolutely no sense, as long as the animation for the tactical reload is believable.

I'd rather the KISS rule be observed and keep ammo simple.

Well they could put in an animation for the work bench where it shows you pick up a clip and line it up with the magazine and slide the cartridges off the clip to the magazine. But I think the only one that would be possible to load in the field would be your pistol magazine since I bet they are single stack and not double stack magazines.

But I wouldnt expect them to waste time on implimenting something like this when they got other things to work on.

It would be a waste of time. Having to sit there and load ammo into magazines. In a Fallout game I can go through many thousands. Just pointless. Just be happy that shotguns have to be reloaded one bullet at a time.

I know you can hold more than one mag, but an infinite amount! It's ridiculous, and the reloading a magazine in combat was exactly what i was talking about when i brought up preparation, you should prepare you weapons in a safe place before going into combat, and if you run out of mags in combat, ( and im not going to lie, we all probably would ) you would have to switch to a different gun, or rely on a melee attack that should also be available with all weapons, until you are safe enough to reload a mag. And also like i said, it would be hard, and that's why i proposed that this only be available in hardcoe mode. For the truly experienced.

Sounds too much like a genuine pain in the ass to me. I shouldn't have to waste an hour of my time gathering what ammo I need and work on loading frickin' magazines to go out on missions and quests. This is a level of realism that isn't even that fun, nor even necessary.

So...what? We're now lesser gamers because we don't feel the need to have overly realistic experiences in a Science Fiction video game? Maybe we should also have to manually remove bullets, and wait for months in traction in a shoddy hospital before continuing play because we got a crippled leg and arm, and a concussion in our last firefight.

You do know in hardcoe mode ammo has weight? so that problem is fixed. So there would be no need to add loading you're own mags.

No If you must know, I will be playing on medium, and on hardcoe mode. hardcoe mode is the limit eating, sleeping, and drinking with ammo weight is acceptable. Loading every bullet is not (IMO). There are many people here who do not want it to be "as realistic as possible" check out the Realism Realism Realism thread, and you will see. People want it to be realistic, as do I, but we don't want it to be over the top.

I see what you are saying, and agree it would be a nice feature in a game designed for people who actually know the basics about how guns work. As far as Fallout is concerned, I'm not sure it is a fit, but I can acknowledge it is a good idea.

sorry, i don't understand your logic, people want it to be realistic, but not like REAL. It's a RPG (Role Playing Game) so you should be able to role play every task the solider must preform to succeed at his/her job.

are you serious its a video game! If you want to load separate ammunition into magazines then save your money for a rifle and you can do that all day if you want to i don't care.

Thank you, at least you understand where im coming from, im not saying it's the perfect plan, it's a draft, an idea, it'll have kinks but the idea shouldn't be dismissed automatically upon sight.

You're not a soldier, first off! You're a mail courier! Soldier is just one aspect of play! It's not a military scenario!

Ok let me dumb this down for you. People want it to be SOMEWHAT realistic, but not where it gets EXTREMELY ANNOYING.

It's a bad idea. There will be a gun the American-180 submachine gun with 176-round drum. Now think about the wastle of time sitting there loading 176 .22 rounds into that drum. It would be a total waste of time, you agreed it would. Also what about when in PA? Think about how hard it would be loading a .22 with big PA gloves :banghead:

Also Ammo has weight in hardcoe mode so you can't carry unlimited ammo.

You seem like a fan of wanting the game being as close to 100% real. So what about having it so you get shot once in the head and game over? (sarcasm).
