Wow. This works great. I'm noticing little to no stutter. Even the micro stutter seems like it's about gone. It just feels smoother all around.

Now if it only it fixed the NPC slowdown issue, but we have those dll files floating around for that.

This plus one of the dll fixes makes for a very smooth game.

And best part, it bypasses the craptacular launcher for the game.

Thank you! ^_^

http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=112556? Can't try it at the moment, but it's worked with all sorts of other .exe's...

I just decided to give this a try for the hell of it. No go.

And that 4GB patch doesn't work as well, even though it works so well for Oblivion.

Damn encrypted .exe's.

Anyway, use the 4GB New Vegas thing above. It seems to do the same thing these enablers/patches do, and it works with an encrypted .exe, so it's compatible with Steam.

Just remember the game doesn't use anywhere near even 2GB of memory so you don't *need* to extend the address space. If/when large texture packs are released things may change.

Most people still use standard definition TVs. So why are HD movies sold?

Every movie it available in DVD format too.

The assumption that the masses whom enjoyed FO3 and awaits FONV still use their "old" PC is not far from being true, you don't go and release a game in such a way that they all need to upgrade their PC.

You haven't paid even the slightest bit of attention to what removing the memory limit involves, have you?

.....right, so because movies are available in HD, standard definition became unusable did it? It's amazing how many people seem to be unable to grasp the concept that making a game able to use new technology like 64 bit and DX11 Tesselation does not mean it cant run on older harder. My issue is that the games industry caters to the lowest common denominator, hardware manufacturers are rolling out DX11 and developers are still stuck on 32 bit Dx9.

Well, to be fair Gamebryo (or rather, Beth's version and license of Gamebryo) is from 2006? 2005?

Its doing a rather impressive job for a 5-year-old engine.

There's plenty of games around using DX11 engines - I think DiRT 2 was the first DX11 game out with DX11 support.

I wouldn't worry about seeing any more Gamebryo games, either way. This is not necessarily a good thing - we'll have to learn to mod all over again on the next TES or FO :)

Indeed, but your mod definitely seems to help with microstuttering on my end, so that makes it good enough to use right now in my book. :goodjob:

Sigh, damn Steam, and damn the people who made it so NV must be attached at the hip to Steam.

So if you buy from somewhere other than Steam you're still stuck with Steam????????

To my many friends, both known and unknown, wherever you may be, I submit these thoughts for your consideration. Here's a quick review: Some people maintain that 2GB Memory Limitation's cultic aping of mendacious, immature potlickers indicates that it has no standards of decency. Others profess that by rejecting 2GB Memory Limitation's self-righteous vaporings we spit in the devil's eye. In the interest of clearing up the confusion I'll make the following observation: Many people who follow 2GB Memory Limitation's magic-bullet explanations have come to the erroneous conclusion that the best way to reduce cognitive dissonance and restore homeostasis to one's psyche is to confuse the catastrophic power of state fascism with the repression of an authoritarian government in our minds. The truth of the matter is that its programs of Gleichschaltung have kept us separated for too long from the love, contributions, and challenges of our brothers and sisters in this wonderful adventure we share together—life!

What's more, even if one is opposed to nugatory antipluralism (as I am) then, surely, 2GB Memory Limitation should do some research next time before printing half-truths and misinformation. In other words—and let's say this plainly, clearly, and soberly so that no one can misinterpret 2GB Memory Limitation's true intentions—2GB Memory Limitation's idea of bloody-minded academicism is no political belief. It is a fierce and burning gospel of hatred and intolerance, of murder and destruction, and the unloosing of a rapacious blood-lust. It is, in every literal sense, a brain-damaged and pagan religion that incites its worshippers to a jejune frenzy and then prompts them to force us to do things or take stands against our will. Look, if you intend to challenge someone's assertions, you need to present a counterargument. 2GB Memory Limitation provides none. In retrospect, 2GB Memory Limitation has always been more catty than most homicidal yo-yos.

Anyone who hasn't been living in a cave with his eyes shut and his ears plugged knows that lying is more familiar to 2GB Memory Limitation's constitution than truth-saying. Disguised in this drollery is an important message: 2GB Memory Limitation and I are as different as chalk and cheese. It, for instance, wants to put political correctness ahead of scientific rigor. I, on the other hand, want to stand up and fight for our heritage, traditions, and values. That's why I need to tell you that its policy of driving us into a state of apoplexy must not go unchallenged. To leave it unchallenged is to condone 2GB Memory Limitation's grandiose plans for world hegemony, plans in which no one is free to say that 2GB Memory Limitation seems to be involved in a number of illegal or borderline-illegal activities. For it and its functionaries, tax evasion and financial chicanery are scarcely outside the norm. Even financial fraud and thievery seem to be okay. What's next? Institutionalizing six discrimination by requiring different standards of protection and behavior for men and women? I can say only that by writing this letter, I am unequivocally sticking my head far above the paraqet. The big danger is that 2GB Memory Limitation will retaliate against me. It'll most likely try to force me to roll over and play dead although another possibility is that its suggestions do not represent progress. They represent insanity masquerading as progress. To end on a more positive note: The obnoxious, impractical lounge lizards who collaborate with 2GB Memory Limitation should be spat upon—or worse—for their lack of integrity.

So if you buy from somewhere other than Steam you're still stuck with Steam????????

Yes, it's the DRM for this installment.

Wow! Can confirm this completely removes the stutter, just like the Stutter Remover, only it works with Steam so no need to use a modified .exe! AMAZING! Why doesn't this have its own thread?

Originally I was intending to make my app this load the new vegas stutter remover dll, but it wasn't up-to-date with the current patch of the game when I made it. I also had no idea if it would even work with the encrypted steam executables if I loaded the new vegas stutter remover dll after steam decrypted the executable in memory. So I just decided implement the most trivial change of just hooking GetTickCount() in my app itself.

TBH I am not sure why, most games are still 32 bit. I use a 64 bit OS myself. As for buying a 'gaming" pc, I would never commit such a travesty myself, I build my own. So called "gaming pcs" are overpriced and do not generally have a good mix of parts.

Ain't that the truth... damn "Gaming PCs" cost like 1-2 grand pre built, but if you build one your self with the same amount of money it will be 2-4 times faster easily.

Well, thanks again. :foodndrink:

I think the latest patch broke the 4gb/stutter fix... can anyone confirm? I'm getting stuttering and horrible framerates now.

Yes it did. I have the same problem now. I went from nice smooth playing to microstutter galore.
