Request for Dawnguard - Perk reassignment

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 11:55 am

People are already complaining that there are not enough consequences in skyrim.

Choosing your perks carefully is an important consequence to keep in.

If you can reset your perks, even if only at great cost it destroys the individuality of your character.

Heck you are telling me I haven't seen them use it.... when I have screenshots of the perk tree I am referring to in my sig :/ when one of the screenshots is of a werewolf GETTING one of those perks...

I never debated the existence of a werewolf perk tree. I think you missed my point entirely. The perk tree only reenforces my point. Perks are tied to skills. In this case, the werewolf skill.
You mean beside the fact that they've already shown AND spoke about the fact that the new perk trees have nothing to do with the leveling system of the other perk trees and do indeed "level" through alternative means (namely, mauling people and feeding)?

Or am I misunderstanding the confusion here -.-
I am prepared to concede the point if Beth has indeed stated this and it's not just something that people are inferring from trailers.

Then we consider the point conceded.

Level cap doesnt have to increase, don't know if anyone notice but to gain a perk via werewolf or vamp lord you have to do certain things aka soul rip and devour heart.

It's not inferred from a trailer, stills of the Werewolf perk tree in the gameplay demo clearly say the words "New perks become available after feeding on enough corpses. Each new perk requires a few more feedings."

I wouldn't mind perk reassignment in a certain context. But that context doesn't exist in Skyrim, it existed in Daggerfall though. Namely when you become a Vampire, you effectively "Die", which would create a justifiable grounds to re-spec your character.

Since you can cure yourself and re-infect yourself as many time as you want in Skyrim, I don't think that's a good idea, Respect should be a once-only kind of thing, (Maybe twice, once off Vampirism, once off Lycanthropy).

Not so fast....

But that is exactly how you level up any skill! By using it! If that is the sum total of your evidence, then I am inclined to stick with my theory.

Yes, but these new perks you get are only usable on the relative perk tree. They can't be used to get perks from other trees. So you level up your werewolf abilites by mauling people, then you get a perk unlock specifically for the werewolf tree. Same for the Vampire lord. You can't use these perks for, say, one handed or smithing.

Vampire perk tree is confirmed. Also, crossbows use the archery tree.

Crossbows are a sure input. It showed it in the official trailer released not that long ago. Plus crossbows along with the 1.4(I think) Mounted Combat update would be an awesome combination! Really looking forward to Dawnguard! Plus I hope the Vampires have a level 100 perk that they regenerate stats even in direct sunlight or have a perk that disguises the teeth to normal people so that villiagers don't attack on sight
I think they are rehauling vampires so level 4 doesnt cause hostility

Pleeeease!

For those of us with higher level characters, and knowing there will be a new perk tree for werewolves, *possibly* crossbows and *possibly* Vampires, it would be great to reassign some perks rather than have to re-roll just to get the benefits.

Can Bethesda confirm if this is going to be part of the DLC?
I do believe it was said in an interview that the perks gotten for vamps/wolves are gotten in a differnet nature than that of the human perk paths. In fact, in one of the vids, it shows him gaining a "vamp level", ish. "You have gained a perk as a vamp lord" or something like that, up in the usual corner.

Vampire werewolf perks have NO SKILL they are numberless, just the amount of kills you have determines your perks. Seriously dude just look at the perk tree in my sig and you will see there are no levels to the tree, unlike other trees (facepalm) and we are not getting this from a trailer, we are getting this directly from bethesda statements and live gameplay during E3.

In gamespot interview today, an exact quote from a beth employee: "these are not linked to the leveling system, they are stand alone based on the number of mauls/ bites you have"

Edit after reread: disregard my tone in that post. Its midnight and I am getting grumpy.

I was just getting annoyed that you say we are using a trailer with no info when in fact E3 has given us ton Of video proof of what I say. Search up the E3 videos and see for yourself.

Again sorry for the angry tone, im gonna grab some sleep so I can have a civil discussion in the morning.

Hey, don't sweat it man. It's just a vidoe game and this is just an internet forum. If you are right, you are right. It's not like we have money riding on this or anything...

Even so... they should have done it my way ;-)

What I am concerned about is balancing the number of feedings, it'll become too easy to gain perks by wiping out a dungeon, transforming, and eating everything. High numbers like 50, 75, 100 etc. would be needed I think.

I have 3 characters that are 70 plus and one lvl 81, my 81 was my first character so I made some bad perk choices, I would benefit greatly from perk reset option, maybe one that charged money for resets like two worlds 2?

This. ^

I find the current perk system too confining. I have a very cool paladin, one handed weapons, shield, heavy armor, restoration, smithing and enchantment, I would love to be able to put some points into speechcraft and archery, but their just arent enough points to go around. Maybe in the expansions perk points could be handed out as rewards for completing quests. Not alot of them, just enough for a couple of perk trees.
