Request for Dawnguard - Perk reassignment

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 3:14 pm

Pleeeease!

For those of us with higher level characters, and knowing there will be a new perk tree for werewolves, *possibly* crossbows and *possibly* Vampires, it would be great to reassign some perks rather than have to re-roll just to get the benefits.

Can Bethesda confirm if this is going to be part of the DLC?

Your presuming the new skill trees will work like regular skill trees, maybee you have to do special things as a vamp/werewolf to add perks for them and not just level up. i hope.

This. I am pretty certain this is how the new perk trees work. If you have seen the screenshot of the vampire lord perk tree you can see a progress bar across the bottom that increases once you make kills as a vampire. Once it is full you unlock the ability to pick a new perk. So picking perks for vampires/werewolves with be seperate from skill perks.

Ah that's awesome then :)

I have an assassin that I'm very fond of at the moment.

Does anyone know about Crossbows for sure? I read the newest Xbox Magazine article out today that contains loads of specifics about the DLC, but they said they werent sure on Crossbows. They *thought* that it was going to have separate perks from Archery, but weren't 100%

it counts as archery and relocating perks defeats the whole purpose of them.

Crossbows are a sure input. It showed it in the official trailer released not that long ago. Plus crossbows along with the 1.4(I think) Mounted Combat update would be an awesome combination! Really looking forward to Dawnguard! Plus I hope the Vampires have a level 100 perk that they regenerate stats even in direct sunlight or have a perk that disguises the teeth to normal people so that villiagers don't attack on sight

game informer seemed pretty sure that your archery perks would just be carried over to crossbow use.

Todd Howard flatout said that your archery perks would work in one of the interviews yesterday.

as long as the don't add new "level up perk trees" then you wouldn't need a reset but if your already unhappy with your current allocation of perk points a reset would be awesome *cough* so i can make epic poisons *cough*

You can actually reassign your Perks whenever you'd like.

Just start a new character.

I wouldn't be surprised in the least if the expansion allowed you to level up to 100. Maybe you'll be able to put your new points into the old perk trees.

Doubt it. The 81 (and a 1/2) Level Cap is set by the 18 skills and their cap of 100. Getting to level 100 in all 18 skills gets you your max level of 81.5. They'd have to add additional skills or bump up the level cap on each skill to get you a higher character level.

I have 3 characters that are 70 plus and one lvl 81, my 81 was my first character so I made some bad perk choices, I would benefit greatly from perk reset option, maybe one that charged money for resets like two worlds 2?

Yes, yes. We've covered this in hundreds of threads. If we have new perk trees though, it only makes sense that those perks are tied to skills. More skills equals more levels.

ExcePt that they are not new skills. The vampire and werewolf perk trees are already confirmed by e3 gameplay videos to be based on feeding on blood as a vampire or devouring a heart as a werewolf. The two new trees are unconnected to the current leveling system.

I just hope that if you turn into a vampire lord or whatever it's called, that if you change your mind there will be a method of reversing it, somewhat like how you can reverse vampirism using a black soul gem, I have quite a lot of those now, better stock up

People are already complaining that there are not enough consequences in skyrim.

Choosing your perks carefully is an important consequence to keep in.

If you can reset your perks, even if only at great cost it destroys the individuality of your character.

Yes, I know lycanthropy and vampirism are already in the game. Their perk trees are not. Since your answer is based on a teaser trailer, I'm going to declare it to be conjecture. There are no other perks in the game that are gained without skills and I don't see why this will be any different.

You mean beside the fact that they've already shown AND spoke about the fact that the new perk trees have nothing to do with the leveling system of the other perk trees and do indeed "level" through alternative means (namely, mauling people and feeding)?

Or am I misunderstanding the confusion here -.-

Yea... they have shown it in all the dawnguard videos...

which by the way there are five now

NOT just a teaser trailer, I based what I was saying on the Gametrailers Gameplay preview.

Heck you are telling me I haven't seen them use it.... when I have screenshots of the perk tree I am referring to in my sig :/ when one of the screenshots is of a werewolf GETTING one of those perks...

haven't been keeping up with E3 have you?
