No rest for the wicked

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 3:02 pm

My character tends to not sleep at all, mainly because I don't see a point to sleeping anymore. In Oblivion you had to go to sleep in order to level up but in Skyrim you can level up whenever you feel like it. most of the time if I have to wait for daytime I do just that. Press the wait button and there. I do kind of feel bad for my character to have to just stand there for hours which I think would be extremely boring but it gets the job done.
I already am a part of the dark brotherhood so there's no other reason for me to go to sleep.
does anyone even sleep anymore? Or do you find it unnecessary compared to just fast traveling or doing something else until nightfall or daybreak?
I mean even if you have a wife/husband there's really no need to go to bed because they can't sleep with you anyway.

If you are also a werewolf, then there is absolutely no reason to sleep. If you are not a werewolf, you get a rested bonus.

If there was some sort of bonus for sleeping that would encourage me to sleep more

Bonus!
Same.

I use it to get the skill bonus, but I also use it to time my travels and exploration to specific times of the day. Sometimes only until the shops open.

FYI:
Sleeping gives you either Rested (+5% skill bonus) or Well Rested (+10% skill bonus). The bonus lasts for 8h (in-game time).
When you get married and sleep in the house of your wife/husband will you get Lover's Comfort (+15% skill bonus).

If I am near a bed, I sleep. If I am not, my character stands there in the snow with pvssyring teeth.

never noticed that, then again I play on a regular tv so the words that come up in the top left corner are way too small.

Use the realistic lighting mod. Night time becomes really dark as is should be.

So I sleep as it's hard to see and when need to wait for shops to open.

I sleep if their is a safe bed in the area, Inn, my house, guild bed, or a cleared area. Otherwise I keep moving, but make sure that I sleep a couple hours longer when do make it to a bed.

It does bug me that you don`t need to sleep (I have to RP it), but then there`s a lot of stuff i`d like that don`t exist in the game, like wear and tear for example...

Once again, waiting for a kind modder to fix it.

p.s. I`ve never understood that saying `No rest for the wicked`, why can`t it be `No rest for the good`?

Because the wicked are kept up with pangs of guilt? the good sleep easy don't they? idk

Well, my first character was a warrior werewolf. Since there was literally no benefit for me to sleep, I never did so.

I've made new characters, but now can't seem to get in the habit of sleeping a bed when I see one. I've even tried becoming a vampire on one of my characters to try and encourage myself to do it more. Still working on it.

I think sleeping would matter more if the time scale was more akin to an actual 24 hr day, as well as not sleeping being more detrimental.

This I usualy only sleep after returing home after hording up treasure and ingredients, assuming it's evening. And if I have to wait and there is a bed nearby I'll use that instead.

I sleep when I go to my homes even tho I have beast blood, for the same reason I felt bad for that Eagle-Eye guy and gave him regenerate health ebony armor: sometimes I forget this is *just* a game.

OP-

i completely agree. in fact, i'm getting sick of the fact that to get enjoyment out of this game i am forced to roleplay. the rping is fun, but, if i HAVE to rp then gamesas screwed up.

i'm at a point where i almost can't have fun by just picking the controller up and playing because of the shallowness, simplicity, repetativeness, broken systems, lack of character development, weak companions, weak dialogue, meaningless everything, on and on and on.

a nice, living world with some quests and things to fight can only take you so far. if this trend continues skyrim will be bethesda's worst game, for me.

I just never have the time I'm constantly fast travling and whenever I do go to my house it's just to drop off dragon scales or bones and other stuff I have. The again me and my character are kind of the same when it comes to sleep, I can hardly ever get to sleep as well because I alwasy want to do stuff. I should really change that before I go to boot camp.

If a shop is closed and i need to sell stuff i just go enchant smith or explore till 8am. They did really good balance-wise making sure there is always something to do. Sometimes I do rent a room just for fun

It would be nice if more quests required you to sleep or even if there was a sort of "Dream land" DLC that you could only acsess by sleeping or something. it would make me want to sleep more, I know that there are certain bonuses you get for sleeping but I'm level 54 I'm 100 in block hevy armor, restoration, illusion, smithing, and one had (with a lot of the others in the 90's) so do I really need a small boost when I have tons of enchantments on and a tone more active effects?

If I remember bootcamp corectly ( 22 plus yr's ago ) by the end of the second day I could barely keep my eye's open til the light's went out!

When I am playing as a werewolf I don't sleep, ya don't get the bonus and their's ton's that can be done.
