Role-play Help

That's actually very neat, I'll have to use it for some side characters!
Yeah, it's a good little tool to have when creating new characters, I have it bookmarked.

What bows do you use, because I was thinking of going full RP and sticking to my long bow and imperial bow? And magic is good for a hunter RP?

I use elven bows. you can find some good ones early on. they are light and quick on the draw which if your using a bow is a must for quick kills.

The magic side of things is a default to for me. As an elf its in her blood. However she doesn't hunt with it. fire burns fur she harvests for other uses haha. But if she gets cornered by bandits, flame on. haha Sometimes a bow is hard to use in close combat. It svcks running out of good arrows.

The thing is, (at least for me) roleplaying doesn't need to take all the game mechanics into account. I recently just made a character that is very similar to your archetype using a High-Elf. I am also using absolutely no magic (other than Shouts) with this character. If you can think of a good backstory for a character, the rest of the game will fall into place.

But that's just my two cents! Play the game how you want!!

I agree, a good backstory can really bring a character to life. Roleplaying is very subjective, while one person may feel it is necessary to eat, sleep and drink every day, others may think it is not and they may choose to focus more on the choices their character makes.

Okay, I just started my new Character File so now to name him.
http://www.barrowdowns.com/middleearthname.php
I found a site that converts any real world name into a cool elvish, orc, or dwarf name.
I got Lossendeloth for my elven name.
Thanks for the link.
This is what I got from my name in Orcish

Okay, so I did already start my RP earlier today and I gotta say RP is a great and interesting way to play the game and is keeping me busy or more interested in the game til Dawnguard and for the future. Thanks to all of you for the tips and tricks! I will try to keep you guys updated. Anyone have any major rules I can follow? (i am on xbox so no screenshots :( )

My Role-Play:
Name: Fandil
Race: Wood Elf
Class: Hunter
Looks: scruffy beard, long nose, thick eyebrows, scar on left check, heavy dirt on face, has a long ponytail, and is the second smallest weight in the game
Personality: Easy going for the most part, likes to have a bit of fun, loves nature, very optimistic, hates it when people think of him as a good for nothing peasant, and he doesn't put up with any BS

Rules for RP:
1. No fast Traveling of any kind ever
2. No heavy armor ever
3. No two handed weapons
4. No maces and no axes (occasional use of a sword)
5. Uses Bows (mostly hunting bow) and Daggers (steel dagger mostly for now and upgrade to elven in the future)
6. Can use a horse, but limited use and I have to buy the horse my self and not steal it
7. Has to make all of his own armor
8. Has to eat and sleep regularly
9. Has to mine his own minerals (peasants can't afford these over priced ingots)
10. Most of the time I can't travel in the rain or in the the snow (snow I have to wear my thick leather armor)
11. Can only carry 125 stuff max (unless on horse)
12. Master Difficulty

I got all the way to level 50 on a wood elf archer and did like none of the main questlines (no Civil War, no Companions, no Main Quest, nothing) so its very possible to just wander about and get quite high in level.

I cant take credit for the ideas, only sticking into together into one document and setting it out, see the credits in the guide for the people who made the ideas up.

1. No fast Traveling of any kind everCheck
2. No heavy armor ever.Check
3. No two handed weapons.check
4. No maces and no axes (occasional use of a sword). With my Nord character I was using sword and shield (including bow and arrow) then I stopped at level. The I said to myself w'ait a minute I playing my first charcter but as female.' Then I start using daggers with the bow and arrow. I never used sword and shield after that.
5. Uses Bows (mostly hunting bow) and Daggers (steel dagger mostly for now and upgrade to elven in the future) I don't stick to one type of bow. If I find a bow better then the one I am using, well I use it. That is including daggars
6. Can use a horse, but limited use and I have to buy the horse my self and not steal it. My favourite hobby in Oblivion. Steeling horses. In this game I did not use horse at the first place because of forced third person. But with some tweaks in my ini file I riding horses in first person. Its not perfect but its better then a poke in the eye with a stick.
7. Has to make all of his own armor. Check
8. Has to eat and sleep regularly. Sleep like six to eight hours every twenty-four hours (at night) and sometimes eat.
9. Has to mine his own minerals (peasants can't afford these over priced ingots). Check.
10. Most of the time I can't travel in the rain or in the the snow (snow I have to wear my thick leather armor) Snow, rain and sun dose not stop Hanne.
11. Can only carry 125 stuff max (unless on horse). I carry what I can carry.
12. Master Difficulty.[/i]You are brave. I play on Adept. Its 50/50. Enjoy

You don't have to make him fit into the main storyline. Most of my RP characters aren't characters that go through the main story. They are just people who live and exist in the world and have their own stories and adventures, take side quests they would do, etc.

A few have deep backstories, most don't.

Yeah, I'm just gonna make it that he isn't the Dragonborn and he is just a random guy who just does miscellaneous quests and will eventually complete the civil war quests though after being false-fully captured by the imperials.

If you're on PC, you should check out the alternate start mod. It gives you a bunch of options to start out as including:
Shipwrecked
Homeowner in a city
Merchant arriving at a port
Bandit
Hunter
Patron at an inn
etc.
Very good to change up the flavor of the game. For example I start off as a patron at an inn (this type starts off with nothing but the clothes on your back, a small weapon and some food), I'll just start doing quests for the local NPCs to make some money. Eventually I make enough so that I can invest in being a merchant, or in another play through, and merc, and keep going where the open road takes me.
