Roleplaying a FO3 character

Post » Sat May 14, 2011 2:31 am

Id really like to Roleplay my character from FO3, cause i really like him
as far as i know in the start of the game you arrive as a delivery guy in vegas
wich could work cause ill roleplay i came from DC to deliver the package to vegas
the problems here really are that if im right the NV story is years after the DC story
and my roleplaying might be contradicted if i advance in the storyline and actually have to figure out what was in the package and stuff
anyone else have some ideas for this?

Uh.

You get shot in the head. Well you could follow the story line its basically the same thing... Just add role playing elements

Eating every 2 days or every day

Drink water daily etc......

I'm new to role playing so I can't help much..

Yes FONV is 3 yrs. after FO3. Why would the package ruin your roleplaying?

Well maybe youll also have a backstory already , where you came from and stuff like that
but that could be ignored i guess

Well, hate to break it to you, but you are actually working for a company that is based in the Mojave Wasteland. They would never do a cross country package delivery. In fact, they are called the "Mojave Express", if I remember correctly.

It's not going to be like FO3, where you start as a baby, etc., etc. You wake up in the wasteland, Victor and Doc. Mitchell fix you up, and you start there. The story is you finding out why you were shot and left for dead.

Unfortunately that wouldn't work since you work for a dispatcher that operates within the Mojave Wasteland. You're a local. That can't stop you from pretending, but it still kind of puts a damper on the whole role you're trying to play. Just move on.

Right. You could, however, make it so your LW traveled across the country in those 3 years, and decided to settle down and get a simple job when you came across the Mojave desert. Then again, you can also do whatever you want. It's your roleplay.

I hear you,

I grew so attached to my FO3 Char I had to bring him in.

I roleplayed that I made a merc group during the 3 years and my tech expert refurbished a RV and we traveled to Vegas to deliver an important package.

times are changing, maybe you didnt love your fallout 3 character, but loved fallout 3. What im trying to say is if you made a new character on NV you'd probably grow just as attatched to the replacement.

i get where your coming from.

but i am looking forward to a new start.

in fact in my roleplay. my character met the lone wanderer when he was on his way to deliver the package. the lone wanderer was on his way west because he heard that th N.C.R capital was one of the only safe places in the waste.
he gave the Courier some pure water, wished him luck and went on his way

That is almost the same as my roleplay lol.

In the CW, I find out Casdin is my long lost uncle from Cali, so he offers to take me to Vegas, as he wants to speak with the BOS. A person finds out I am goign to Vegas and is going to pay me big money to deliver this package. On the way, I get ambushed.... Casdin dies...... my brother gets shot... and my merc group gets seperated. I head to NCR to find safety and find my group.

Interesting idea. And even if the delivery company is a west coast company, the only difference is where the package originates. So.... since there are a few years in between, that timeframe could potentially have someones old RP character from F3 end up in Vegas. Which would work out since there, afaik, is not backstory to the courier. Really you just need to imagine how your character ended up on the west coast working for a delivery company.

After the mq of FO3, thats when my Vegas rp started.

I found a RV at the car dealership in Fairfax, and said goodbye to the CW. (My char misses Sarah Lyons..)

In Mojave, my char finds his old family.. you see, the LW's father was from Cali, then moved to the CW.

my character had a one night stand with Lucy west. Just kidding....but its not a bad idea.

my lone wanderer found an intact pickup truck in near girdershade. left for N.C.R with his friends Charon, Gob and dogmeat. there car eventually broke down and they had to travel the rest on foot

I've already planned on doing this, however I'll vow not to touch FO3 again until I roleplayed that I'm coming back to DC. My character right now is saving things for the trip. He is currently on a mission to save as much alien epoxy as possible, that way he won't be screwed when he doesn't find replacements along the way.

He's going to be wearing the winterized T51 armor so he doesn't have to worry about armor failing. He'll take with him close to one of each type of ammo based weapon. Lincolns repeater, Perforator, Minigun, Destabilizer, Heavy Incerator, ect. Just the ones he has the most ammo to and most useful. I'm using the xbox 360 (I don't like the PC version) so I'm currently stocking up on ammo. So far, I have over 100,000 5.56 rounds meaning he'll take with him guns for that. I probably have around 20,000 flamer fuel, 5,000 or so .32, 2,000+ .44 ammo. Definitely getting a couple of dart guns for hunting.

He'll keep doing this until he leaves to NV. And depending on what the story line happens there at the beginning, I'll include a backstory as part of the journey.

But yes, He will head west. And when his journey is complete and missions are complete, he will head back to the wasteland.

I was considering role playing a character from FO3. I'm going to name my first guy Butch. He decided to head west so he wouldn't have to hear everyone kiss up to that dweeb who was always [censored]blocking Amata.

Considering they said you're background is a clean slate, you could roleplay as anyone from anywhere really.

Me, I'm roughly planning a LW who read in a book and after a few weeks, was able to use the pip boy to locate a map from DC to Las Vegas, via the old Vault Tec Satellites still floating around. And after a month or two of work, he took Dogmeat and butch in a refurbished USAF canvas truck with all of his worldly possessions and made the way there, Butch went his seperate ways upon arrival, and dogmeat and I went into business for the Mojave Express. (Still working it out in my head)

I am actually considering modding a companion version of my current Lone Wanderer into the game. My current roleplay just so happens to be the one I find most likeable as a character. So far, I have the basic idea that he was kidnapped by a group of enclave soldier remnants that threw him aboard a vertibird and took him "out west to see if they can find any of their old soldiers". Something goes wrong and the vertibird crashes right in the Mojave, the only survivor being my lone wanderer. He figures he best go towards the gigantic place with the shiny lights... and the Courier finds him trying to gain entrance to the strip.

trust me i know what you mean, i love my character, now i know that the story line is probley done by this point so i doubt theyd make it to were your body is you with the story line and go along with FO3's story too. {unless they already planed that.} but if they did get your character, they would have to go thru the same sequences they would to start the game {construction on character, style, hair, etc.} and you wouldnt have your guns or outfits that you left with on FO3 {this is due to unfairness for playing the game due to that you would have more powerful weapons than the enemy cause you beat FO3,} plus you wouldn't have your health, your perks or everything you have dur to the same reason and cause in the begging you get shot, left for dead, and you have nothing. the doc revives you, and you start from there, so i doubt that you could possibly keep your character, you would easily just remake him when it comes time. but would be cool is if you could also load you FO3 stuff onto your NV Profile and somewhere in the game meet up with you old Character and do missions with him for a lil and watch him/her in action! btu its probley a better idea to keep him around for few missions, cause im pretty sure he'd kick most the enemy asses cause how powerful he is. {i know mine would :D} but it would be cool to see him.. also you couldnt kill him, only knock him out, cause you could easily take all your old gear back if you killed him lol but i know how you feel, i wish we could keep him to, but you know what they say "out with the old, in with the new." even if it svcks a little.

3 years of traveling in a truck, already a hole in your story ;) . My character walked, which can be somewhat relevant to 3 years if you get lost haha

Why would I spend three years of truck driving? The rest is between time in the Mojave I have yet to fill up.
