One thing I may try for NV is something a poster on the Oblivion general site had an idea for...

Thats a randomised character.. skills, stats, six, face, personallity even, all chosen at random.
I'm starting to think for a new game with a largely modified system to it, it would be the best way to play NV for the first time.

The Lone Wanderer: Former Vault Dweller who left the safety of his vault in search of his father, who also left the safety of the vault so some not yet known reason.

Wait, I think I've done that one already...

I'm really stuck between two roles. I have two ideas really, maybe you guys could suggest which?

1st Idea: Continue my journey from the Capital Wasteland. After investigating the Outcasts my character discovers transmissions coming in from far west. In an attempt to experience a new side of the world he decides to download the coordinates to his pip boy and set out for Vegas! During his journey he is attacked by a very large group of raiders and has everything stolen from him, but manages to leave with his life. Once arriving in Vegas he takes up a job as courier to help get some money and then the New Vegas storyline kicks in...

2nd Idea: Born into an unknown world and watched both parents get captured and enslaved by Ceaser Legion members my character sets out to train himself to be the most feared combatant the wasteland has seen. My character grew up without parents under the care of an unknown stranger while learning to fight, shoot, and survive. When my character turned 16 this stranger was killed by a passing group of Convicts. As my character is now left alone in the wasteland he grows even more adept to the harshness others may not be accustomed to. Eventually my character finds his way into holding a position as courier. After getting shot in the head he has had to much and decides to set out and actually kick some ass. After realizing his best bet to surely kill some Ceaser Legion and Convict criminals he joins up with the NCR, but doesn't completely agree with their attitudes and makes decisions the way he wants.

Which story do you think I should follow through with? Just for kicks if I play through with the 2nd Idea, my second playthrough will be the exact opposite (parents are called by drunken NCR Rangers, stranger is killed by a stray NCR bullet, joins up with the Ceaser Legion, etc).

I like the second choice the best.It fits well with the plot of New Vegas.

The courier  (provided they flesh out the role enough to play)

This.

I just can't hold up an imaginary character that bears no connection with the world without it feeling awkward. My character is defined by the build I make for each runthrough, but it will always be The Courier despite the build. Just like the Vault Dweller was always the Vault Dweller, and the Chosen One the Chosen One, in every situation.

I wonder how fallout 4 would be with co-op...
Kinda annoying to have someone kill you and steal all your unique items.

Julio or Juan - A gunslinger and a bandito who wants to be better than that...
Louis - A hero who doesn't hate nor love, an average hero to save this dying world.
Clovis - A revolutionary soldier. Tyrants will die...
I can go on and on.

Jebediah Figgs - A 21 year old explorer who learned to create maps from a mentor. His task is to map out an area that has not been accurately mapped before and find every hidey hole there is. This cartographer has a bit of a courage problem and will wuss out in some fights and is intimidated by some of the wastelands more gruff presonalities. He is a collector of oddities and weird things always seem to follow him. (wink) I got a good page of his whole life story but I doubt anyone would read that.

Cal Mancy - 22 A Clint Eastwood wannabe- he wanders around towns and bars in his vest get up and his .357. Has lots of charisma and has a big mouth on him. He used to be a slave to CL and learned alot about mining and explosives from his early days in the CL gold mines.

Tribal- not done any details for this one

Egghead of some sort

Crime Boss- uses words and people skills and not much else, he has his friends do the dirty work.

Tyrone - "Nah fellas why dontcha sit own dan o'er there nd lemme sin ya a talle tale o' a wundrus imbago o' a gran ol fella"
Slick Jim of the wastelands, cunning in the extreme, dashing and knows it. Uses charm and a tongue of silver to blab his way through life. Is terrified of guns and intimacy (his wife and children were murdered by person(s) unknown) but not afraid to hire muscle for the ruder parts of life. He will avoid combat at all costs and will run if a fight breaks out. May use traps as a means of covering his rear but won't be the kind to set them down before scouting ahead.

2. A survivalist. hardcoe playthrough psycho boy. Doesn't get people, never has, lives alone 'cos it helps him survive. Uses traps and melee weapons as his primary, will avoid a fight if possible but doesn't hesitate to get stuck in. (I'll probably play a firearms specialty before this just to investigate more areas since these two both avoid combat somewhat).
Pretty standard hardcoe playthrough all in all, probably favouring neutral with a focus on the self's survival above all else.

3. Down on his luck gambler, Luck 1, Charisma and intelligence low, probably put perception way up and the rest average-low. Basically a broke guy who gambles compulsively, addictive personality in the extreme, drinks and pops pills as much as he can afford to. Funds his habits through dirty means. Rotten to the core, the kinda scum who likely populates NV.

I guess a human, american version of my Morrowind character named Thissguy.

His parents dead and he never knew them. He was raised by some bandit. Never had a real name or a normal life.
Doesn't go by good and evil, just does anything to get by, which could include robbing people. Sometimes quiet, other times a showoff.
Somewhat of a fool. A lot of reasons someone would put a couple bullets in his head, which happens at the beginning of the game.
He's good with shotguns and handguns.
I didn't want him to be a vault dweller but I may be getting the classic pack :(

Story and faction-wise I'll do whatever I feel like at the time.

Abraham MacMannis: A stern and brutal mercenary, ex-NCR Scout Sniper. Most likely will wear Desert Armor (the one with the Gas Mask and Duster Coat as seen on the NV cover art) and use Maria (the Virgin Mary Pistol) and a Cowboy Repeater or Semi-automatic rifle.

Bio will come later. Gonna try and model his face after Russel Crow. Why? Cause he's cool that's why!

I am going to rp as the Lone Wanderer...

For the FAQS

1. How will the LW get across the country?
Easy, my tech expert from Siberia fixed up an old RV. In the three years, he got married to Sarah Lyons, and traveled with his merc group :)

2. How did you get an RV
From the car dealership in Fairfax

3. How many people are in your merc group?
Well, 9. Including Fawkes :)

4. How long did it take you to get to Vegas?
About One year. The rest was me buying part of the Mojave express!

5. Why are you using the LW? Use the courier!
The LW is modeled after me. No wait, he IS me. I don't want two mes walking around the wastes!

Any more questions, flames, or comments?

I'm gonna have most of my fun roleplaying my Mafia character. He only wear pre-war suites, and will always steal from the rich, and give to the poor. He is kind to most everybody unless he is hired to kill them.

A poor survival traumatized from the wasteland. His parents were killed when he was still young by raiders, he managed to escape and now he tries to make a living on the wasteland. He doesn't like shooting at someone at all, and he is not the killer type, weak and lacking of weapons he uses his agility to escape from most situation. Beats someone with a stick when he gets into serious trouble, but other than that he is low profile. Trying to survive the wasteland he uses his agility and intelligence to hunt animals and sell their parts to buy food and water... he keeps traveling from settlement to settlement in search for a safe place to live...
