Alright so with the new survivall skill and the fact that I will be spending the majority of my time on a quest for revenge I've decided to play as a cowboy, what about you guys. Will you roleplay as a gangster or something else? let's throw some ideas around.

/Take out bat
/Beating dead horse

Seeing the latest picture from the dev diary thingie made me want to create a tribal.
Hopefully there are right armor and weapons for me to do so, and I hope a low INT really affects dialogue.

A courier.

A down-on-his luck professional gambler who, outwardly, seems like a average Joe in all regards (5 in most SPECIAL stats...) but Lady Luck is his personal guardian angel (...10 for Luck). He travelled to New Vegas to make his fortune through all their casinos. But on the way there he was mugged, cheated, and stolen from, so that by the time he arrived he was utterly penniless. He took up odd jobs as a courier to keep himself afloat and accumulate enough cash to return to his dream of gambling his way to a big fortune. I plan to use this character to break the bank of every single casino he comes across. In terms of combat, I will focus him on getting a critical hit on every shot he takes.

I have no idea what to name him.

Oh I have a really long and unnecessary backstory too. My character is supposed to have grown up in and around the hub, as well as on caravan routes, because a trader came across one of the farms he traded with regularly only to find that it had been burned down, my character being the only survivor. Obviously my character will take caravan jobs (if they have them) and will probably sympathize quite a bit with Cass.

I've got a few ideas.

My first is going to be a smooth-talking cowboy type, but I also want to try my hand at a gangster (after playing Fallout 2, I'm inclined to make him the Bishop kid!) and possibly a tribal (melee looks pretty promising!).

It really depends on how much replay value the game has. I figure mods and the faction wars will help out here!

our characters backstory's are oddly similar.

Solomon Marx- age at beginning of new vegas-24.

he was born in the Klamath and his parents were traders (former new vegas residents). he and his three brothers along with there uncle guarded the caravan during its travels. life was tough but better then most others.

then one day...... Solomon and his family were on there average caravan route to Modoc when they were suddenly ambushed by a group of mercenaries.

he was able to escape with his uncle. before there escape he heard the leader of the group said "cant run away forever can you"

2 years later in his new home of redding Solomon was delivered a package. inside was a letter.
"hello my name is unimportant, you should be worried about yourself Solomon. they never leave survivors. they will come back and there will be nowhere left to run. if you want my help take this package to the town of primm and drop it in the dumpster by the rollercoaster. come back the next day and there will be another package waiting for you"

ps- "your parents were good people......its sad to see them go"

he then sets off to primm to try and find out the truth behind this ordeal.

pretty long i know. but i have a lot of time on my hands

Nice. My character is going to have very low luck. The only thing lucky about him is that he always survives all of the times he's been almost killed. The caravan trader that raised him will name him Rasputin because of this.

Luck is the only SPECIAL that I never bothered to increase.I always keep it on one.I don't know it's full uses except for it increasing the percentage of getting an head shot and helping in the minigames for NV.

They might make it so you have a higher chance of unfavorable random encounters. But yeah, I usually don't bother, so I just figured I'd put it into my roleplay.

i'll playing as Jack Doff

A prominent member of the BOS, he made the rank of Knight captain at 22 (the youngest Knight captain ever) and was entrusted to lead a covert mission into the heart of the Super Mutant stronghold in DC. He was stabbed in the back by Sarah Lyons who believed that the Lyons pride was the only unit who should do covert ops. She gave him and his team dodgy intel, he was lucky to escape with his life, his squad mates however were not so lucky. He pleaded his case but the ranking officers wouldn't have a bar of it, they were unable to believe the Elder's daughter would do such a thing. In the end he was exiled.

One day while drowning his sorrows at the muddy rudder he heard a song come on with the lyrics 'go west young man haven't you been told? California's full of whiskey, women and gold he'd decided he'd had enough of the capital wasteland and try his luck out West.

But bad luck always seems to follow him, he took a job as courier while in the mid west, deciding that having a bit of money when he arrived couldn't be all that bad. Something went wrong and the next thing he knew he was staring into the face of an old doctor.

Doff doesn't know how he ended up in New Vegas but he's determined to make a name for himself. He doesn't trust people, hates the brotherhood and is one hell of a shot.

-Wanderer
His parents were killed when he was the age of five, since then he has been wandering around the outskirts a town called Payson Arizona. At the age of 14 was the first time he saw another sentient being, unfortunately it was a gang of mutated hill folk. Since that his experience he has learned what he is and the truth of what must be done. The infection called humanity must be destroyed for they are unclean.

Just to name a few, some returning from 3, others brand new;

"Commodore" Jack Coonley: A pistol twirling, gun slinging mad man, who has a pension for scarring up woman folk and cheating at cards, hes backed up by his trusty com-padre Raul. Looks kind of like Gary Cooper

Richard "dike" Mantis: My quintessential noir alcohol driven private eye. He looks like Sterling Hayden

"Old Bone Tooth": The wily hermit prospector-esque survivalist. Looks like Lee Marvin in Paint Your Wagon

Xarnac The Conqueror AKA "The Scourge of Betelguese": My titular character is inspired by an alien Orson Welles with an orange tan (Since hes from the Betelguese System) and a blue pompadour.

Dr. Strangeglove: An eccentric scientist who strives for results, foregoing ethics and danger in the process. A neo-noir Frankenstein? Looks like Vincent Price

Dominic The Whale AKA Nicky Pork Chops: A stereotypical mobster, cold and calculating. A sociopath degenerate gambler, who has more bastard sons than Zeus. He looks Like Edward G. Robinson

Edgar Lumis: A drug addicted thieving scumbag, who's only motivation is a quick fix. His demeanor gets him into lots of trouble that his quick tongue gets him out of. He would be more dangerous if he wasn't such a coward. looks like Peter Lorre

A wanderer who just does what he wants (which are good things) and just dress fancy and gamble, and then an explorer, and he will also go from Lowly courier to Mr. Houses right hand man? :disguise:

:gun: Jesse James: My Cowboy Character ready to whip out his six shooter and annihilate. Also whiskey drinking gambling addict.

:toughninja: Jeremiah Johnson: My survivalist, lives off the land and scavenges what he can. (hardcoe Mode Character)

 Marcus Aurelius: My Caesar's Legion character, serves the Legion and reforms to the days of the Roman Empire.

Most likely one of two people. Option 1 is a newbie courier who's too new to the biz to tell a bum delivery when he sees one, or Jeremy Clarkson.

Who will you roleplay as?

The courier  (provided they flesh out the role enough to play)

*I usually can't stand RPG's that provide no role to play. (Oblivion is an exception)

I never really plan out my role-playing that well, I'm just going to do what I would do if I were in that position, so scavenging, hunting creatures for selling to merchants, etc., I normally do this on most my RPG play-through and I find it rather enjoyable so with hardcoe mode activated it'll be even more enjoyable and lengthy than my previous role-playing games.

Although then again I do tend to drastically change my role-playing at different intervals while playing, so I could become a mercenary midway or explorer. I can never make up my mind and stick to it :)
