I''m scared to play FONV

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 12:15 am

I got the game earlier this morning (ps3) and I haven't even taken it out of the box. So far, 90% of the things I've heard about the game are negative. People seem very unhappy...and that worries me. It would be nice to see the positive things you guys have to say about the game. What do you like about it? I need to be inspired to play it because so far I'm not. The game is just sitting there...

I'm still waiting for my game and I'm not really put off at all. Look at it this way - you're going think it's all complaints because the THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of people who are enjoying it are still totally immersed and probably won't pop up on here singing it's praises for a while yet :) Give it a crack! It's probably brilliant. Aren't you even curious? I'm amazed you've managed to stay away from it!

People (usually) don't come to a forum to post positive feedback. A forum is a bad place to judge the game by. You're only going to hear the problems people have for the most part.

Forget inspiration, what you need to do is play it and get your own opinion. It may be better than you expect, but it may be worse; either way, there's only one way to find out.

Most reported bugs are on PC. I haven't had ANY issues at all and I'm on console. I think your safe as far as that goes.

Honestly I think the game is awesome.

I feel sorry for the PC guys though and hope they put a patch out for them soon.

As Freddo has said:

Always remember: game forums will be full of negative posts at launch. Everyone who can play frequently has no need to be on the forum as they are busy playing the game, not to mention that the relative ratio of players to posters is small. Yet, those with problems will find their way here.

This naturally skews the forums towards those having problems.

Fallout 3, while I thought the writing and storyline for the main quest was absolutely horrible I do have to say that the bugs weren't really as bad as people had been claiming when the game first came out.

That being said, for the most part I've heard PS3 users haven't been have as much trouble as the Xbox or PC users

I have been having a blast! I have yet to run into any huge problems with the game, most bugs people are talking about i never saw and hopefully wont see as i continue. I've completed all of the bottom of the map and now im heading twords the top area and so far its amazing, i really enjoy this game.

But just play and see for yourself, dont let others influence your choice in games, everyone has different likes and dislikes when it comes to any kind of game and you should always just see for yourself, if you dont you could miss out on something you really enjoy.

*edit* im a PC user.

Ha.. I don't know you have the power to resist temptation. As soon as my copy is in my hands tomorrow, I'll be ripping off the packaging and setting the game up straight away.

if you liked fallout 3 you'll like this, if you didnt, you might not enjoy it that much. It is buggy, and some of the towns and landscapes look sorta funny and outta place (also what is with the giant casino's with 8 people in them?), but it also has a good story, characters, and a lot of immersion. I love it, but wish it had another 3 months to polish it up.

I am enjoying it quite thoroughly. I haven't encountered any game-changing bugs or issues that detract from my experience (knock on wood). My only complaint is that the music drives me crazy, but that is remedied by turning it off and listening to my own choice of music on my stereo.

Don't be scared. It's fun! :)

I am in the same boat, I am a bit hesitant to buy it now for my 360, I dont have it hooked up online and so if any patches or fixed were able to be downloaded then I wouldnt be able to do it.

But as you have already bought it, open it up and play it, the $$$ have already been committed :)

You must be on a different forum to me. The majority of feedback I've heard is positive.

Ok so here is the thing.... I'm playing it and i really like it... now having that been said.... it has a LOT of bugs, the most concerning one is the freezing and lagging. sometimes it just seems like the frame rate drops, then is a slight pause every so often (specially on open areas), then it gets ugly... it freezes your console (in my case my ps3), so it forces you to reboot... so to summarize... Its a good game BUT IT NEEDS TO BE PATCHED.

The game itself is great. No complaints about that. It's the bugs/glitches/freezes that make it a pain in the ass. I have been lucky enough to find a way around all the bugs I've experienced, though, so I am pretty happy with the game. I'm sure all the problems will be weeded out through upcoming patches.

I'm having a blast with the game so far. I'm 4hrs 29min in and haven't had any crashes or bugs. Frame rate issues and one second freezes seem right in line with what I've experienced in Fallout 3. I'm on the PS3.

I can't remember any game forum where the majority of post was posetive... The forum is all about angry people just after release and later on you will see normal stuff again but why post on a forum if your happy with the game..

301 votes on Gamespot (users) give it a avg score of 9.1 out of 10.

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/falloutnewvegas/players.html?tag=scoresummary%3Buser-score

I guess some people like it too ^^ all know there will be bug glitches etc personal I never had any major bugs in beth or obi games (never crashed in fo3) but due to the different specs of pcs its very hard to hit all users (thats why console users often are more equel in bug reports)

Well since I live in europe I can only look at my preload game but I guess thats how it is... I think its a payback for all the gothic games that I got before the Americans :D

im0 you should try the game the worse that can happend is that you dislike it (or get bugs etc) if its bugs and glitches there will be patches soon... if you dislike it thats just life...

Slap yourself. Go play the game. Then come back an post when you have something to talk about. Who buys a game then comes to a forum saying their scared to play it? lol

New Vegas has been really fun. I'm about 8 hours in on the PS3. Some polygon glitches and strange character animations, but nothing that wasn't present in FO3. I'm looking forward to the patch but it hasn't yet crashed or suffered a game-ending glitch (knock on wood)
