Seeking a variety of Q & A questions

Like JammyDodger at Brink Addict, our forum has also secured a short Q & A with SD. Since it can take weeks to receive back Q & A responses, I am placing a deadline of 1/25/2011 on questions so that we can get some answers back before too long.
If you have any good questions to ask you can post them here and I will transfer them to The Brink Forum, or you can join and post them in the Q & A Thread there with the others.

Here is the list of questions so far as gathered from the SD & Bethesda forums, and The Brink Forum.

1. Can you provide more clarity with regard to a release date?
2. Are (you) planning to incorporate a “theatre” mode, including free cams, pause, step back, etc.?
3. What is the recoil on the guns in the final build comparative to?
4. What's the maximum strength on the console aim assists?
5. How does SMARTING and looking to shoot at the same time work?
6. Are there any open spaces on maps? (i.e.: Sniper alleys. Please say no.)
7. In character creation, in the final build, will we be able to pick a texture AND color for various items or will it be just preset as a color wheel with randomized set textures?
8. How many maps are there?
9. How many missions are there?
10. When will new videos be available?
11. Are you going to update the Bethesda page with more Ark locations?
12. Will PC players be able to create extra levels?
13. Will Xbox360 players be able to buy extra items from the Marketplace?
14. Will you be putting out Brink clothing/costumes? Like the Bug's Mask and The Anger's Bandana? Possibly even The Bug's Tactical Vest?
15. Can you tell us any more about how console servers will be handled (host dropping out in co-op or online games, etc.)?
16. Will you port PC created content (skins, maps, etc.) to consoles like it was with Oblivion or UT3?
17. What kinds of merchandising deals have been made thus far?
18. Will there be any light, medium, or heavy exclusive areas on any maps?
19. How will cheating be handled?
20. Can you set weapons to fire semi-auto instead of full auto? If not, will any of the Medium Assault Rifles be semi-auto only? (Such as the M-14 look-a-like)
21. Is the Medic's health buff part of the normal heal, or a separate skill?
22. Can Engineers move or relocate a turret after it has been placed? Can they do the same with land mines?
23. What types of offensive skills will medics have?
24. Will any of the maps have environmental hazards that can actually hurt or kill the player? (Falling off the map, spinning blades, exposed wires, etc.)
If so, will you be able to push the enemy into them with a slide tackle or grenade?
25. How many types of ammo are soldiers able to hand out, and what are their effects? Will they apply to weapons that don't use normal cartridges, such as grenade launchers?
26. Will the game have a "Headphone mode" in the sound options to create virtual surround sound?
27. Will Molotov’s have a lasting burn effect on terrain?
28. Is SD using mega textures in Brink, as they did with ET: Quake Wars?
29. What are some of the biggest changes that have been made to the game just for the sake of balance?
30. Will we be able to change the texture of our pre-order pack items? (Ex: Security Sloani Mask, the Security UAC shirt from the DOOM Pack)
31. Will there be a flannel shirt without ripped arms for the Resistance?
32. Will the Operative get a backstab ability?
If so, will it be a one hit kill, or a one hit down?
33. Will the Pre-order guns (Psycho and Spec-Ops) be available to everyone eventually, or are they pre-order only?
34. Can you still lean?

40. Can you give us details about the medic only missions?

42. How is game chat handled? (Is it open to all players on team/squad/proximity?)
43. Will the radar always be on and showing enemies or is it earned or activated?
44. Is there melee in the game and if so how is it handled?
45. Will you be able to join/leave a match with your party?
46. Will you be able to throw back a grenade?
47. Will a player be able to pick up enemy weapons or ammo? Will it keep the buff that it had?
48. How long is the campaign? Does it lengthen in time when playing online?
49. Any reward for kill streaks?
50. Will there be online in-depth statistics? (similar to Halo or Battlefield)
51. Will there be clan tags?
52. Any plans to censor or change content for the German version of the game?
53. Will there be a vote kick option in-game?
If so, how will the kicking system work?
54. What were some of the original inspirations of Brink?
55. Are you guys confident of Brink playing well with a controller, even if it's not as well as a keyboard?
56. Will there be any console exclusive content?
57. Is there a limit to exchanging XP between characters, to keep players from going back and forth all the time?
58. Will players be able to re-do missions they've already played, sort of like choosing a map you'd prefer to play on in other games?

PC ONLY:

59. Are there private (reserved) slots on the servers for admins/regulars?
60. Will we be able to vote for shuffle teams?
61. Will we be able to switch teams during a match?
Also, will there be an autobalance option?

Can you set weapons to fire semi-auto instead of full auto? If not, will any of the Medium Assault Rifles be semi-auto only? (Such as the M-14 look-a-like)

How much can the guns in Brink be cosmetically customized? Can you pick skins, colors, and decals for them?

Will Operatives have a backstab or similar mechanic? If so, will it cause them to lose their disguise?

Is the medic's health buff part of the normal heal, or a separate skill?

What types of offensive skills will medics have?

How many maps are going to be in the game at this moment?

Will any of the maps have environmental hazards that can actually hurt or kill the player? Falling off the map, spinning blades, exposed wires, etc.
If so, will you be able to push the enemy into them with a slide tackle or grenade?

Can Engineers move/relocate a turret after it has been placed? Can they do the same with land mines? Of course as long as they haven't been set off.

I can answer some of these

Yes, there are multiple levels of certain skills; the one example I have heard is Turret 1, 2, and 3, each skill will replace the last.

There was mention of a medic passive ability to increase the medics skill pip regeneration rate in a German interview.

Last I had heard, SD doesn't plan on even thinking about DLCs until after the game releases.

What is the aimed rating for the game?

What kind of modes are there?

Will there be an in-game theatre/replay system?

What will the cap be?

Will there be any type of PvE survival type mode?

Will there be a player vs bots mode where you can train on bots with multiple difficulties?

How would this be different than normal single player mode? Its on the exact same maps as multiplayer, and the bots will have variable difficulty.

Not that I'm discarding your idea, its just that questions need to be clear for something like a Q&A

P.S. Ray is correct, 20 is the level cap

And just to give more info, playing the campaign on one side and then the other, back to back, was said to take about 10 hours, and will get you to about level 15.

Do you think this game will last for years? Now that I see the 10 hours -> Lvl 15 /repeat - more Lvl 15 / Lvl 20 characters (It will be pretty quick if you do the Campaign it seems)

And that you just unlock an item once, then you can use it until your heart stops beating, it makes me wonder, how long will people play this? I hope for atleast a year or two :sadvaultboy:

Some people continue to play games for thousands of hours even when they have little or no unlockables. The fact that there are dozens of possible builds in Brink, and that its not too hard to create a character to try a new build should help the replayability, rather than hurt it.

Wow lol, well I personally like fast capping, I prefer end game.

And I mean for example shadowrun, you can play bots mode where it's exact same as multiplayer but you can select amount of bots on each team, difficulty, and races.

If players focus on the elements you listed, and play the game for those reasons, then yes, perhaps the game will get old for them. But for players who treat Brink as a class-based, team objective shooter, (which at its core, it is) and see the RPG aspects as sort of a a background element, they may get more life out of the game.

Look at BC2. How many people have unlocked everything in the game? How many people have hit the lvl cap? Do they still play the game regularly? Yes, many of them do.

That is how single player Brink acts, except you can't choose race (since everyone is human) and you may not be able to change the amount of players.

yes. this can be seen in the E3 demo. When he is flipping through characters in the beginning, there is an option at the bottom of the screen that says "delete character."

There's going to be a lot of "class specific" objectives and missions probably. I've got a couple questions.

Will the code be open so that statistics like your experience level and current abilities of your favorite characters can be accessed on a website? Kind of like stats for badcompany2? But just to show off your character build?

How do shotguns behave ingame? Damage, spread, reload speed? Will people be able to play as "shotgun heavies"?

What have you done to combat lag and the impact it can have on the enjoyment of the game?

Obviously, Heavies can use shotguns. Are you asking if it would be a viable choice for heavies to choose shotguns as a primary weapon?
