Seems to be a lack of evil companions

They should give us a perk that enables us to take two humanoid followers or ED-E + Rex. <_<
I miss the old games way where I could run around with my own small gang. :(

It bugs me tehre is no Legion Companion. Every person seems to hate when i work with the Legion so in my Legion playthrough i did not have a companion. They dont need to attack NCR on sight just be in favor to the Legion or at least evil. I dont want a Veteran Legionarie on my team, but there are no omcpanions favorign the Legion, or even just leaning towards an evil karma. At least in my opinion. So it would be nice if their was someone who was more like that.

Raul doesn't mind the player joining Legion.

If you are on PC you can always just pick up a mod like Tarrant's phalanx mod.

Its a very nice utility mod that allows you to have as many companions as you want and gives you tools to more efficiently maneuver and command them etc.

You still get screwed ver as legion with fewer quests, fewer merchants, fewer non hostile places.
I wish we had a legion companion, and more legion things in general, seems biased to ncr.

It doesn't seem that tricky to have a non-NCR or Legion-aligned evil person. The followers are all more interesting in NV because of their quests/stories, so you could just have some angry, crazy or semi-sociopathic local thug from one of the gangs, or a merc from the Thorn or from some slaver group, then give them some quest that shows more of their story. The stories for the 3 human followers I've tried so far are pretty tough-- not what I'd call happy stories, but fairly human ones.

Or how about a disgruntled and angry ex-NCR or Legion who hated them both for very good reasons, but was willing to contain their violence if you ordered it because of some hold you had over them... it could be an evil hold, too, like a hostage, just to fit your own evil nature. It might also be fun to have their violence toward you be barely and grudgingly contained, so you'd have to stay on your toes around them.

I don't know if Bethesda & Obsidian would be ready for the public criticism they'd get if they made a straight up sociopath follower-- one that gleefully encouraged vicious behavior on the player's part. It'd be sort of like if they had allowed players to participate in the Enclave's genocide in FO3. Too many repercussions, damage to sales, etc. Right now the player can do any crazy thing they want, but it's not built into the script from the devs.

Depends on your perception.

Boone: An evil mass murdering pawn of a corrupt empire intent on land grabbing for their own needs, who mercilessly slaughters the wasteland's only hope for civilisation.

If rapists, slavers, and torturers are the only hope for civilization, it's safe to call civilization evil.

Indeed. My take on the 'good' scale from 'best hope of humanity' to 'useless degenerates'

Mr. House
NCR
Anarchy
Caesars Legion

And that order isn't going to change in my opinion.

Firstly nothing is objectively evil.
Secondly:

Spoiler

Ending slide part:
"Under the Legion's banner, civilization - unforgiving as it was - finally came to the Mojave wasteland."

There is a strong implication in the game files that there will be a Burned Man DLC, so I wouldn't consider an evil companion DLC out of the question since that guy was going to be a pretty darn evil companion in Van Buren. However there's nothing saying that he'll be a companion in whatever DLC he may be in, let alone anything saying that you'll be able to take him into the main game.

I do agree that there should have been a somewhat "evil" character in vanilla New Vegas though. A mercenary or something.

Still doesn't cancel out what Caesars Legion is, IE a bunch of spear chucking barbaric tribals LARPing as Romans mounting people on crosses for the slightesting thing, then mounting each other as awell.

Totally subjective morality is intellectual suicide.

House, Yes Man, and the NCR also result in civilization for the ending slide.

Civilization of their sort is not a worthwhile end. You could wipe out all of humanity and call the remaining ants a civilization, but you've accomplished nothing worth praise.

Doesn't make them any objectively worse than the NCR who are gung-ho military shoot first ask later, use torture, types LARPing as pre war American government?

As a side note mounting each other, is really a non issue.

The Legion's use of torture is far more prominent than the NCR use. How many people do you see the NCR torture? Now go count the crucifixes.

And the NCR don't engage in slavery or the debasemant of women.

*sigh*
If one look at what they currently do then yes Legion might seem very evil but think about what they do and how it might affect the "future".
Maybe their way is the way to restore true civilization.
Gotta crack some eggs to make an omelet yknow.
Besides, it's not like our real world was any better in past times.
All countries has had their dark moments but they have all lead up to todays world.
And todays world is nice right?
I mean, women have a lot more rights than they used to have.
Slave labour is nearly gone. (still exists in some countries)
Racism isn't as big of a trend anymore either.
Hell, we have less wars than before.
And with the new technological/medical advances humans average life-time has extended.

Point is: Maybe Legion seem evil at the moment, but due to their "evil" actions they might be the ones to bring the world to a more peaceful state, it will take a long time and that time will be filled with blood, fear and hate but something beautiful might blossom out of it, just like it did in the real world.
That's how I see them.
They're evil now but they are the best hope for the world to become civilized again. /opinion

By the way, aren't we going really offtopic now?
I mean, we were discussing evil companions but it has now derailed to "is Legion evil".

I never said CL didn't use it, I was only showing a counter statement to the the one posted by Colonel Martyr describing them in 'negative' terms.

Conscription: "Some groups, such as libertarians, say that the draft constitutes slavery, since it involves the State taking ownership of the subject's life and labour"
I agree the NCR seems cool with women's right, in the military sense in which we see them anyhow.

From before: (Sorry would have replied before but forum 60sec lock out for posting)

No it isn't, well not objectively anyhow  depends on your views of morality.

Each side consider's their side to be right and morally superior? So none are objectively good or evil.

Assuming what the CL civilisation leads to is rather pointless as it's never expanded upon, also it worked once before as a stage on the way to our current civilisation.

Ah ok, I had half a mind to not comment on it but then again it's hard to read intent in just pure text.

Someone want to have a Legion Companion, making him evil would make it seems more persuasive.

Having evil incarnate that is hated by both side of the conflict but in turn, the BEST stats interm of combat? It worth it alone just to see what his ending going to be.
