Seems to be a lack of evil companions

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 11:15 pm

Now I know that the karma system in New Vegas allows any player to take any companion, I can't help but feel that there aren't really any suitable followers for an evil PC, from a roleplay perspective. Back in Fallout 3 we had an ex-raider and a crazy slave, but the current lot all seem far too benign, or at least neutral. Granted, they're far more interesting than FO3's, but none of them feel quite right for my current playthrough.

I am surprised that Caesar didn't give you a slave as a gift.

Rex is ex-Legion (can be made more Legion or part Fiend). ED-E is Enclave. Lily just doesn't care.

I'm talking strictly about humanoid companions. The animals (ok, and robots) don't count, because they're altogether different.

And Lily isn't really evil. Maybe not bothered, but I just can't imagine her as a partner in crime like I could Jericho.

It would be difficult to have a companion that attacked NCR on sight but it would have been nice to have a companion who favored the Legion and another who was neutral like Raul and Lily.

Being able to disguise your companions would have solved a lot of issues and added the gameplay element of controlling your companion's behaviour.

Why the Devs cut Ulysses is beyond me as he would have been the true evil companion out of the other 8.

It would be nice with a legion companion but I would really like at least 4 new darker companions.
They don't have to be necessarily "evil" but just... Dark... It's questionable whether they're good people or not.

They have said they might bring him back in a future DLC (hopefully not an Xbox exclusive *grumble grumble*) but if they don't, I won't be surprised if someone eventually mods him in. Someone has already recreated his clothing.

How can someone mod him in?
Chris said he was so important to the story that it was almost impossible to tear him out of it. (Not the exact words but something along this)
How can a modder know what kind of personality he has or what his goals are or hell even where to find him?

From what I heard he was supposed to be near Wolfhorn Ranch East of Nipton before they cut him out

I still think they cut him because they didn't want to get involved in faction disguises for companions, and he would definitely have needed one or would have to have been left behind an awful lot.

I didnt see Ulysses as evil. He looks pretty neutral from what we've seen.

I was assuming Goodsprings, considering there's a shack there with the flag on it. Whose "resident" never uses it.

Why? Because he dressed like a Khan? He didn't seem to have a Khan personality.

Actually, http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Ulysses may not be "evil" at all.

Maybe we should have Benny once we saved him from the Fort?

No, because I confused him with the Legion companion people were discussing yesterday.

I do think they did drop the ball a bit on some of the seedier companion possibilitys.... A Cannible companion could have some really funny / disturbing lines heheheh.

His 'home' is supposedly where Wolfhorn Ranch is. In the Italian version of NV it is called 'Accampamento di Ulysses', Italian for Ulysses camp.

Ulysses shares the same card type as other legionaries though.
The entire clover set of the Caravan Deck we got in the CE was dedicated for CL.

Now that is curious. Khan jacket, Enclave emblem (not strictly), Legion connection.

As far as factions and companions are concerned, just because they might be "evil" doesn't mean they need to attack NCR on sight. Just because Boone is a bloodthirsty lunatic when he sees legion doesn't mean every body has to be that extreme. I miss using the multiple companion glitch and running around with clover, jericho and charon, slaughtering everybody in sight.
