Normally level affects the gold recieved, but whether it would affect this, I don't know.
I'm 60 and only got 2k. Though I reloaded and kept it. I like reading it.

You keep doing that you'll go blind.

I loved the reading effect of the scroll

Don't know why, it just seemed cool that they'd bothered to put an effect like that in. I was just expecting the message 'You cannot equip this item.'

Perhaps on the PC with console commands that you, ironically(?), cannot use on the consoles.
