Selling the Elder Scroll? Spoilers to be sure. XD

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 4:13 am

Do we need the Elder Scroll beyond reading at the Time Wound? For example, I sold it to the Orc librarian (Urog gro-Shub). Is there something more noble/better/cooler to do with it? I checked UESP and it just gives a description of the item. :P

FWIW: I saved right before I sold it (this ain't my first Bethesda rodeo ) so my game isn't ruined...yet.

Will it go into a display case or is that only for daggers?

Hey I think selling the scroll to the Mages College, so they can put it into their collection is a very noble thing to do!!!!!!!! It's not like you are tossing it to Delvin at the Thieves Guild as a "lil' beauty he was lookin' fer." hahahaha

Maybe it was 2K, but I could've sworn I saw 3K roll up. Speechcraft doesn't affect quest and quest-like rewards, right? ...only pure vendor transactions, right? :P

I know what it was: it was the exchange rate of US versus where you are. :D Hug?

3 k Is only for mint state. Not if you left in your backpack for weeks, between the troll fat, the vampire dust and the horsker stew.

LOL well my Speechcraft is at 100, I still need to do the Blackreach quest on this toon, so we'll see how much that Orc will fork over for the scroll. Heck, I'm an assassin, I have a torture chamber! I WILL get my money! hahahaha

I sold it, since it was the only way to get rid of it from my inventory (damn quest items...)

Normally level affects the gold recieved, but whether it would affect this, I don't know.
I'm 60 and only got 2k. Though I reloaded and kept it. I like reading it.

Yeah, I just reloaded and sold it again to check - it was 2K...sorry for the alarm. Y'all can cancel the DB contracts to assassinate him.

What happens when you re-read it/read it away from the Time Wound? :o

You open it up and it blinds you, and sort of stuns you for a few seconds. Nothing special, but I think it's a nice novelty.

No idea,
But if they was them, I'd be mad jealous and assault the Dragonborn. Who doesn't want an Elder Scroll?

it's another one of those level-based rewards things. for example, the higher your overall level, the more money you get from doing the Dark Brotherhood Forever quest (I started out getting 600/kill and now I'm up to 1200/kill at level 79) and you get better weapons and equipment from the Civil War questline. bottom line, the higher your overall level, the more gold Urag gives you for the scroll...therefore, if you can find it in you to keep a 25kg object in your backpack for a while, then it will be worth it in the long run.

It's a quest item so it doesn't matter how much it weighs. :P

I sold mine but now I kind of have sellers remorse and want it back. It is a powerful artifact and extremely rare, not to mention it was annoying to get. I'd keep it in my inventory if nothing else, just to have it. I wouldn't mind selling those crappy instruments from the bard's colelge quests that are svcking up 10 pounds of weight needlessly.

Doesn't make sense either..."Omg you found this rare, unique instrument we told you to bring to us! Now, how about you hold onto it eh? Who cares if it gets broken or mucked up!"

People say that they don't really weigh anything - it's just a bug in the description card/window. I've been too lazy to test it.

Just dump everything you possibly can into a safe chest and see for yourself. :)

Earlier I tested it with my Elder Scroll - had 555/600 prior and 555/600 after (with 2k septims more, this was when I found out how much I got.)

My speech is at 97, so it cant be that.

Exchange rate would explain it! LOL. :twirl:

And quest items dont weigh anything. I promise. Ive tested it.

Cant even do that, still a quest item and cant be removed from inventory.
