Separate save pages

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 10:02 am

Or at the very least make me able to name my saves. I just could type in the name of the char....did the same with previous games until Oblivion. Don't know if this is a console only issue(I sincerely hope so) as I skipped to console with Oblivion and ever since got stuck with save #. The OCD part of me also gets really annoyed with all the uneven and weird numbers

I do wish there was sonething like this for more organization within your save files. That would be great to hell organize your saves across several characters and I am all for that.

Yea i would love something like this. Once in a while i'll delete a good character by accident because i have so many and the saves mix together.

I agree with OP. I don't understand why other games have such good save systems and this one doesn't. I like to keep 4-5 saves per character. I make new saves as I'm playing, then go in at times and delete the oldest. I have been very careful, but still managed to delete a whole character. The only safe way I can do it now, is to save at a point where I see my character's face (PS3 you see the picture of every save, I don't know about the other platforms). That way I can see WHO I'm deleting. I haven't bothered to make new accounts, but that sounds like a safe option. We shouldn't have to do that though. Dragon Age 2 had a great system, and so does Demons Souls.

Xbox PS3 and PC all save the same way the only difference between Consoles and PCs is that on PC you can make backup folders and what not to categorize your characters.

Am I the only one that thinks separate save pages for different characters would be appropriate?

I have over 100 saves just for one character (I live by the motto Save Early Save Often and have about 100-200 Hours invested in the one char) But if I want to start a new char I will have to remember where the last one left off in terms of #'d save. I think they should adopt a Mass Effect save style where each character has its own page instead of all lining up on one massive list. It's quite frustrating trying to find an old character or having to go back through each one trying to find the character I want to play as.
i agree with you 100% my motto is "when in doubt make a new save!" i only play one character but it would be alot handier if they had different characters separated

Exactally I made a new char just for the dawnguard beta this is why I bring up this point but before the beta I only had my one character and he's slowly getting buried in the multitude of saves being racked up by my new character.

I can say that all of the beta testers are doing a bang up job on finding bugs (many which are recreateable) I hope Bethesda fixes them up for you guys by next week so you'll have a nice polished final product.

Fallout: New Vegas taught me to use 10 save slots at the most for a character. So, my saves aren't too cluttered.

No you are most certainly not alone. I always make a 'buffer zone' of identical saves between characters to avoid accidentally overwriting them, but in all honesty I shouldn't have to do that. DA:O did it perfectly, go and look at that please Bethesda menu design guys. :)

Funny I was just about to make this topic. I totally agree, I wish they would do character separate saves that way I don't need to look through all 600 of my saves to get to a different character.

100 saves for one character! Lightweight! I have almost 3500 saves for my first character, retired at level 45 after 200 odd hours.

I dont think I have loaded any saves other than whichever one was most recent from the last time I played. But I do want this feature because I save a lot. A LOT.

I save when I am about to take a quest. I save when I get one. I save at points during the quest. I save when I am abojt to turn a quest in. I save after I turn one in. I save when I level, and also when I level up, and also before and after I spend perks I save when I discover a new location. I save when I am about to do a sell run. I save before and after each vendor interaction. I save when I am about to craft, and after. I save when I learn a wall word. I save before and after I earn dragonsouls. I save before and after I spend dragon souls.

And the list goes on.

Dont think I have ever loaded one tho, other than "most recent".

Yeah I usually load the most recent but now that I have a second character for the DG beta I feel that the game is lacking something in the saves department. I usually save before important decisions (like picking perks and choosing sides or rewards)

I really hope Bethesda takes a look at this thread and implements something to remedy this problem
