Should I get a new PS3 or convert to Xbox 360?

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 4:52 am

So this black friday I can either get a 4 gig xbox 360 for $150 or a 160 gig ps3 for $200? I've always wanted an xbox more, but I already have a library (about 10 games) for my ps3. Though I don't play them much anymore. What do you guys think I should do? I really really want an xbox, but I already have quite a few ps3 games. So I 'm stuck! Help! :sadvaultboy:

Get the Xbox if that's what you always wanted and sell your games to either fund your new collection (Skyrim) or help pay for the Xbox.

I have both. I like to use my PS3 as a media device, but do most of my gaming on Xbox or PC.

Get the Xbawks, if you think youre missing out on Halo, Gears of War, Alan Wake or Forza, otherwise, not much point really.

Speaking of selling my games, how fast will they sell on ebay and for how much? I most buy good games. GTA4, RDR, Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Borderlands, Little Big Planet, MGS4, 2 working ps3 controllers, ect ect.

If there are any 360 exclusives that you want to play, now's your chance. If not, then you might as well just get another PS3.

I wouldn't get the 4GB Xbox. You're going to want to have plenty of room for DLC's, installed games (via disk or the marketplace), demos, videos, etc. I'm sure it's doable, but I would still recommend getting something with some HDD space.

That 4 gb xbox wont get you far. You probably spend more money buying a replacement harddrive in a month. Get the ps3 again, blu-ray player, better exclusives, free online play.

It depends what you'll be using it for I guess, and which game series' you like. Anyone saying 'get PS3, better exclusives' really has no idea at all! If you're a fan of Resistance and Uncharted (there are more, I realise) then the PS3 is an obvious choice.

If, however, you like the Halo's (or maybe haven't played them yet?) and Gears of War's of this world, then the 360 would be the obvious choice. Personally, having owned both (sold the PS3 though), I'd say that if the PS3 exclusives don't really appeal to you, then go with the 360, with a view to getting a bit more storage space further down the line. With the way Microsoft are evolving Xbox Live, integrating Kinect (among other things) with the Dashboard and the astonishing Xbox Live Arcade, I'd say that'd be the way to go.

If you're unsure, I'd always recommend the 360...Blu-ray aside, the PS3 doesn't offer that much. With a better online service, achievement system and all round community, I'd say that the 360 is a safe bet for anyone currently 'on-the-fence' :)

I'm not fanboying for Xbox btw, just offering an opinion...both have their strengths, and both are very good systems...take from it what you will

I say go with the playstation. Normally, I would say go with the xbox, but the truth is that the four gig system is really going to hold you back, considering that some games basically require full installs, not to mention some games have rather large patches coming through. That, combined with that fact that you already have games for the other system, it seems like the ps3 is the best choice.

PS3.

Load times on the 360 can get a bit frustrating.

LIES!!!!!!!!!

I would stay with the PS3. I switched to PS3 and wish I didn't at first only because all my games were on the xbox. If you are strapped for cash other then buying a console, then I don't see the point in buying a console that you don't have any games for. If you have enough money to get some games, then do what you think is best broseph!

Well if you want a 360 just get that. You won't be happy with a new PS3 if it's an Xbox you really want. And if you don't play your old games what does it matter? Sell them or donate them to the needy.

When people ask which console they should get I always tell them to let the games be the deciding factor. Look at the games you want to play, and see which console they support. Get the console that the most games support... that would probably be the 360.

PEE ESS THRUE.

No, really. Stick with the PS3. I mean, even though you get Ek Bock Lie with the X Box, stick with it since you always had the PS3. You already bought tha games for it and whatnot.

How exactly does that work? HDD, maybe...but why buy a PS3 for the inferior controller?

Neither console has an inferior controller, it's a matter of opinion.

I liked the PS controller until I got an Xbox and had to get used to the chunkiness of it, and when I went back to using the PS I just couldn't get comfy with the controllers.
The joysticks on the PS3 controls are a pain <_<

Eh, I comfortably use both of them on my PC. I use my PS1 controller (connected via USB adapter) for games that require d-pad precision, and my 360 controller for modern games (because they auto-detect a 360 controller).

I prefer the PlayStation controller though, since most of the games I play use the d-pad and the 360's d-pad is rubbish.
