Should Skyrim be made as a movie?

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 2:27 pm

So, I had this crazy idea.
I got it from the Live Action trailer of Skyrim, because it looked awesome. So I decided to ask it from you people; should Skyrim be made as a movie?

I think the plot in Skyrim was marvelous. It could be a great movie if it was made by a good director.

It practically could be one already, since the majority of the dialogue disallows any kind of choice.

As I've said many times before, the only way an Elder Scrolls film would work is if it was an original story instead of an adaptation of one of the games.

I think nearly all TES titles could be made as movies with some very minor changes in the story. It wouldn't contain even 10% of the stuff in the games though.

Hey that Commercial was sixY AS HELL. and like revsaid, their really isn't much choice to begin with. But it'd have to be 3 hours and you can easilly skim along each of the factions for the game since the GAME already makes you do that. and you know? until you see an Argonian, you'll never realize its TES lol

I would say no to making a movie about this game reasons are:

Streetfighter the Movie
Mortal Kombat the Movie
Bloodrayne the movie
Tekken the Movie
DoA the Movie
Dungeons and Dragons

And the list goes on.

All of them butchered the original story line, and were kind of horrible to watch (especially those directed by Uwe Boll)

A female Dovahkiin, non human, and a mage or thief to boot. And Eva Green. And Claudia Black. Or the answer is no.

The amount of story line in this game (short MQ, short guild quests, short story all around) would make for a bunch of really short movies. So, maybe Skyrim would be better as a cartoon series.

Story has never been the best part of TES, in fact I would go as far as saying that it is the worst part the series. TES may have some of the biggest lore found in games to work off of but it would probably be better for the director to just make up his/her own because many people would avoid the movie just because it's based off a game.

Then there is the whole loss of freedom to consider. The ability to do whatever you want is what defines TES, making a movie would strip that away and would therefore be just a (most likely bad) fantasy movie.

It would make a really good anime. Heck, the game should be made to have an anime style, I get tired of western rpgs. Make it happen, Todd.

would awesome if there was a mini downloadable live action Skyrim movie on iTunes.

But i think it should be short film live action high high quality acting.

And most important I want Christopher Plummer as Master Arngeir, Chris Hemsworth as Dovahkiin and also Linda Carter in the film too please.

thx in adavance!

If bethesda made one and put it up on iTunes, id buy it.

Well, I can only see disappointment in such a movie!

For a start, how are you to please all the fans?

Main character in movie = mage = not good for all non mage players.
Main character in movie = archer = not gonna please non archers.
Main character in movie = thief = not pleasing to assassins.

Main char ................. the list goes on!

The thing is, SKYRIM allows us to choose one of many paths for our character to take. It is a simple fact that a movie would have to follow only one path and thereby remove that choice. Should a movie have multiple 'main' characters following different paths that cross but still all individual then that would take the essence out of the story so to speak. Although we can meet many non playing characters or even have companions to aid us in our game play, SKYRIM essentially casts the player as a singular entity.

Besides all of that there is this;

I would say no to making a movie about this game reasons are:

Streetfighter the Movie
Mortal Kombat the Movie
Bloodrayne the movie

It's actually a no-brainer. The only Dragonborns ever known were all Nords or descendent from Nords. In fact, it is only in Nord culture that Dragonborn are honored and revered. Thus it is safe to say that only a Nord could lore wise be Dragonborn. And since Nords are typically dumb muscle bound brutes, who's idea of an afterlife is being permanently drunk and singing battle songs, it is save to say the Dragonborn would be a Warrior like those before him.

Buuuut...they could of course give him a few different companions in his journey who could play the other classes. Sort of like a D&D party thing. Oh wait, they already made a D&D movie. Well this one could be better I guess. :D

I don't know about Skyrim but I would love to see a movie that centers around the dwemer. It could finally reveal some secrets everyone has been wondering about in an epic and startling storyline! You know how dwemer constructs mysteriously stop working when pulled away from their "homes" and then regain "life" when returned? I could picture dwemer constructs around the world of Nirn in museums, ruins and science centers comming to life suddenly and mysteriously, causing chaos. Then followed by an equally mysterious reappearance of the dwemer themselves, leading to further chaos and the need for a hero or hero's to save the world from some sort of domination! Sounds exciting to me!

This. The big allure of the games is that you shape the main character, suddenly having that taken away from you would be disappointing.

Tell me you're joking? If you want a JRPG, go play one. Don't wish away one of the few good Western RPGs.

Hey, you gotta admit that Anime girls always look sixy in their super short skirts and tight spandex costumes. Hmmm...come to think of it, that would definitely not work in Skyrim. Brrr....
