I could play FO3 on High Settings with more than decent fps. Running with everything on High, I've got a steady rate away from NPCs. But even running with everything on low, I'm still getting a major slowdown from NPCs.

Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHZ

Running latest official drivers on everything. Anytime I interact with an NPC framerates take a nose dive. Followed an NPC around with FRAPs on and it seems the framerates take a hit anytime they run an animation cycle other than idle. God help you if they start making facial expressions.

Same as everyone else, 40-55fps while no NPC's are around. Drops to 10-22fps when an NPC is on my screen or talking. Frame rate still seems low in general for my system on an older engine.

1440x900 on 2 monitors, tried turning off the secondary.
Intel Core 2 Quad - Q9550 @ 3.4Ghz
EVGA GTX 285
8GB DDR2-800
Realtek HD Audio on-board
Windows 7 64bit

Installed all new drivers for chipset, video card, and sound card. Seemed to help some with new drivers but it's still unacceptable frame rate.

I tried several graphics settings with no help.

I tried the ~ toggleEmotions trick, does not help, when the NPC speaks the frame rate drops to 10-13.

Really pisses me off that a lot of the same bugs from Fallout 3 are still in this game, basic stuff like the weird mouse lag on menus and pipboy, wrong FOV for widescreen monitors etc. At least there is an easy fix for the mouse, too bad the old FOV fix doesn't work.

I'm not one to [censored] and moan on forums, but this is ridiculous, please Obsidian/Bethesda invest in some quality testing for PC. I realize it's a lot harder on the PC with so many variables to account for (unlike the console), but other companies make PC games that work on day one properly.

We all look forward to these games for months or years, when the date gets closer everyone gets excited. Then it finally comes out and it's just a big disappointment to either wait for an official patch or spend hours searching forums for fixes instead of enjoying the game.

Hopefully all these posts with system specs will help the patch development.

1.) Massive NPC FPS drop. Although FPS is never high anyways. Drops from 40's to single digits.
2.) Only 30% GPU utilization max.
3.) Sometimes the videocard even downclocks to 405 mhz for whatever reason killing FPS even more (never done this with any other game ever).

I max out every game with this system. Never had a problem with Fallout 3. This is absolutely ridiculous. Doesn't matter if I play on "Ultra High" (auto-default) or "Low", problem is exactly the same.

ugh, i know, pet peeve of mine too. lag refers to network latency and has nothing to do with framerates.

Need some support for your product Bethesda, we are all frustrated.

Same f'ing problem!

3rd time posting this info and no word from support at all.

Obviously this is a major screw up, man up, lets hear someone with some positve feedback from support here as a paying customer is speaking to you with a major flaw that needs to be addressed. You remember we all paid for this and at the very least expect some feedback as to if this is being looked at, progress etc..

I did have the issue but I disabled both anti-aliasing and transparency anti-aliasing (left AF at 15 though) and now everything is fine. I had one weird problem at the general store toward the beginning where the right portion of the screen was pixelated but so far, it's running like fallout 3. I've tried three different nvidia drivers, the lastest 260.93 is crappy crap crap and has the issue with the water multisampling (needs to be turned down of crappy FPS). Even after cleaning up my driver history, I cannot force AA or anything in the NV control panel. But my eyes adjusted to the jagginess which at 1080p isn't really that bad

interesting minus that 65 bit fella and the one guy with the 9800gs Ive noticed we all have either 4 series nvidia card or 5 series radeons

This is why you devlop from pc first then to console and not the otherway around. I'll bet my purchase this is something to do with the 360 , dont know how or what but my gut tells me thats what is to blame.

Dont forget now, there are allegedly 35 million registered steam users and that is also allegedly 10 million more user than xbox live. So what I am additionally vaguely trying to say is, that money talks. I have many less pc savvy friends and family who come to us to find out whats good, I can not ethically justify recommending this to any of them. until this issue is resolved

Add me to the list. Just like everyone else, 45-60 fps everywhere until an npc comes into view, then it drops to single digits, worsens if I talk to them, multiple npc battles are unplayable, goes right back to smooth once all npcs are dead. I've updated all drivers, edited all the freaking ini files, toggle emotions, turned off water, nothing's worked, even in low setting.

Same story.

PLEASE PATCH! It's seriously tainted the first time playthrough experience.

Got the problem too. Can run other new games at highest settings, New Vegas is brought to its knees by a single NPC on lowest settings.

I don't think any speed of patching will make up for the thousands of people this is probably affecting...

This is ridiculous that we have this problem...It was fixed in FO3...so you would think this game would be the end product of that plus better...I mean it is and all that but, it went backwards with bugs

Corsair 750 watt power supply (if that matters)
Asus motherboard (if that matters)

I run Fallout 3 at ultra high settings at 1080p with 4aa at a constent 60 frames, under the MOST load (without mods) it will hit maaybe 50 for a fraction of a second.

@Bethesda and Obsidian, Fix it I don't have all day I am a busy man, I got things to do & people to kill in New Vegas.

ingame hit the ~ and type toggleEmotions i know it sounds dumb but it works i have no clue why.

as always didnt work
