Skooma and Other Addictives

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 2:39 pm

My main character, a Bosmer, is addicted to Skooma and Sleeping Tree Sap. His only problem is finding more Sleeping Tree Sap.

My secondary character hates all who are associated with skooma or skooma dealing. Usually you will find him running around the streets checking people for skooma.

I will have to ask, what are your adventures with skooma and other addictives, or just what is your character addicted to? Also, where can you find more Sleeping Tree Sap?

No, but now that I think of it, it would be fun to RP a character who has pica disorder and hunts bears to eat their claws to fulfill a psychological addiction.

That would be fun, actually...

My warrior used to be a Skooma addict - he became so after the death of his wife, Aela. He eventually 'cured' himself through a lot of prayer to Kynareth.

I would play a Skooma addict, if you could actually get addicted to Skooma.
I don't really see the point if there aren't any negative effects. Then it's not addiction, it's just really liking something.

Being "addicted" is using your imagination/ability of roleplaying.

Dat Bosmer. It's breaking the green pact, but that okay outside of Valenwood. Though, he should feel ashamed of using plant products.

Gutslit, he is a Khajiit, so he doesn't need to pray for his skooma addiction. He needs the stuff so he can at least have some comfort. Those Thalmor who aren't outside towns are lucky he has something to keep him from gutting them.

Yes, I'm aware. But addiction has physical effects, more often than not crippling ones.
I'm disappointed with the fact that the drugs in the game not only aren't addictive, but have no real drawbacks.
Narcotics, & hallucinogens are good for you in Skyrim, & that doesn't make sense to me.

True, but most drugs have a good effect at first, which it has, but a bad one after awhile, which it doesn't have.

Yeah, I understand your point.
I just miss when drugs were bad in Morrowind, & back then I actually bothered playing a Skooma addict.
I had a Breton Bard, who was heavily addicted to Skooma to the point where I'd almost killed him with negative effects a few times.

Yeah I'm not usually one to wax nostalgic but with a drugs thread, & a sea monsters thread on the front page, some of the aspects of the game that, in my opinion got hit the hardest, it's difficult not to.

Yep. Even the smallest references in Oblivion or Skyrim can make me get all nostalgic.

The giant camp to the west of whiterun has a tree in the middle of a pond. At night it glows blue, and you can harvest sleeping tree sap from it. :)

My argonian had expensive tastes. He did a hit of Balmora Blue and challenged Paarthurnax to Fisticuffs. 20 seconds of Freefall later, he was floating down the White River.

Skooma probably for nostalgia, I kill every skooma dealer I find on the roads, except khajiit ones... there are so feel cats already. Sometimes I save the orcs too... when I'm in good mood.

Edit: Once Ive gathered 30 or more skooma, and spent a lot of time placing them on a bowl in Breezehome... at that time I had an Argonian... otherwise my Khajiit wouldn't leave home ever :S

It would be fun to roleplay a drunk or a drug addict now that I think of it, would be different, that's for sure.

I haven't played Morrowind but if drugs were like felldew in Shivering Isles than it would be really awesome, having to rely on them after having it or suffering from withdrawl and losing skills or stats or whatever.
