Once Skyrim comes out that's all I'll be playing so other games don't really matter :P

Once again the people have spoken and the reviewers have lied. :) How much money do you think they get paid for a favourable review?

You do realize that the vast majority of those user reviews are troll reviews, yeah? Happens with every big game released with controversy. Metacritic doesn't require that you own the game, or even know anything about it to vote.

9.0 being a flop is an interesting choice. A stupid one, you are stupid, is what I'm saying.

Zelda is zelda. They're fine, nothing new or that interesting. I can't trust any nintendo review to be honest. It's all just nostalgia.

I don't trust any reviewer. I trust the players and mostly myself. 9.0 by a reviewer could be worse than IRL diarrhea. Why they put a 9.0 could be anything from bribe to not wanting to anger a big corp. So Is he stupid for digging in real facts? Nope. I think you are more stupid to be frank.

Could the same not be said for the positive reviews? Just a bunch of COD lovers saying how unbelievably amazing it is?

This week I have truly realised that the general gaming population is [censored]. Somehow, skyrim, a massive 300 hour open world game with oodles of atmosphere, style, and beauty, against a annually rehashed first person shooter of which every iteration is a slight improvement from the previous years offering.
I am actually suprised that some game developers are even putting their lives on the line with risky, albeit creatively amazing games, when crappy unimaginative first person shooters that have been developed for no more than a year sell billions

I'm really not surpised at either.. the failure of CoD or the amazement at Zelda

CoD is getting worse and worse with each passing game (and not in small steps either)
and the Zelda series has ALWAYS been one of my favourite series.. Ocarina of Time is a true classic !

Nintendo is not apart of any competition, and MW3/BF3 are completely different games.

Well I hate professional reviews. At this point I can't believe any of them (not after DA2) so their scores just anger me.

There may be a lot of poor scores from users for Skyrim though. I think that for many people Skyrim is their first TES game, and for someone not really knowing what they are getting into, they may hate it. TES games have always required patience, which is something the ever-growing CoD crowd has little of.

It's a shame no big time reviewers want to give COD a score it deserves, cause it definitely doesn't deserve 8 or 9's. No one wants to cause it night cost them their Job. The user reviews are what I always trust anyway. I personally hate the game itself, not for the series. The company didn't try to improve anything at all. Glad I didn't have to buy it and my brother did.

And damn, The new Zelda game is out soon? Probably gonna get it for Christmas.

What's MW3?

Mech Warrior 3? Though that was released in 1999 so that can't be it. ;)

Skyrim won't review as well as smaller, more focused games like Zelda or Uncharted, simply because with a game of Skyrim's scope, you're going to have some small bugs and flaws.

They may seem inconsequential given all the content you're getting, but by the simple fact that reviewers will have an easier time finding and listing issues, you'll get fewer perfect scores.

activision are a powerful sponsor/advertiser for games websites, plus word on the street is activision pays handsomely for good reviews. tbh its a sensible tactic on their part as this game would be in bits on the floor were it not riding the hype train

Lol, maybe you like Zelda if you're 5 years old.
Come on it's a little girly shemale fighting to save another shemale from ugly pixelated bosses with recycled gameplay techniques (and storylines) from the N64 era.
I can see liking zelda if you grew up on it, but only in that nostalgia sort of way - or if you're a girl.
[censored], Zelda's just so gay.

I completely agree. When most reviewers gave DA2 nines, I just completely lost all faith in them. That piece of crap was barely worth a five.

Ive known this for years.

Once upon a time gaming was more niche, and was considered somewhat geeky. The gaming population had a level of sophistication, and dare I say it... taste. Not that this was 100%, but definatly a significant portion of the community.

Then gaming became more popular, which was initially seen as a good thing. But with the influx came hoards of 'jocks' and the brain dead. Companies then started gearing games to these newcomers, instead of to the existing customers, despite the fact what they HAD been doing attracted the new people in the first place. Soon 'streamlining' and 'accessibility' were words to be feared and reviled, and innovation and change were put to the side so that every year a new dumbed down FPS could be marketed to the brain dead.

Not that I dont play some FPS's, but the industry is in a dark place right now as far as Im concerned. With dumbed down gaming, and expensive DLC that does very little.

Thankefully Bethseda is one of the last bastions holding against this darkness.

I've always thought that game reviews should weigh 'value for money' much more heavily than they currently do. A game like Uncharted 3, while it might be a really excellent playthrough, probably isn't worth playing more than once unless the multiplayer is exceptional. Personally, I won't give a game an A-range score unless it's worth playing through more than once.

Frankly, I don't think many people will review the PC version, and honestly, I think it's modding that pushes these games beyond the 10's...

But honestly, though I can admit that this latest Zelda looks great (in terms of gameplay), I hate the happy go luck feel they've adopted for the series. When I initially played the NES, SNES, and even the N64 games, I thought the game would eventually go in a darker direction. I though what TES IS, is what they aspired Zelda to be... I was wrong I suppose.

You my friend, are a champion among men. Please give me your list of games that are manly enough for me to enjoy, so I know what is good - I trust your opinion after those words of wisdom.

Definetely agree with this.. unfortunately i dont have a decent PC at the moment so i'll wait for the GOTY edition of skyrim before getting the PC version..

Although it may at first seem a good idea for a darker direction, my thoughts almost immedietly turn to the fact that it just wouldnt have the same character the previous games had and therefore ruin the experience
