Here is another one. Haven't used either so I can't say if one is better than the other.

check profiles . it's in the directory you store your skyrim savegames (and skyrimini).
first create profile (ie.1) then make your changes, then start uoir game, save, quit and go back to that directory.

DNA cfg maker always did something strange to my skyrim like no shadows at all or messed up lightning. I'll give a try to that conftool.

Ok so I read a few places that Ugrids don't only load the distance better but also load any AI in those grids and thus there have been stories of issues with bugs etc.....

My question: Can anyone weigh in on this that is maybe a modder or knows enough about AI and U grids to explain the potential downside of say running with 9 or 11 U grids? I ask because I know my rig can handle it but I am concerned about the bugs and 7 is just not even worth it in my opinion. I would love a stable 11 or even 9 my specs are in my sig I also know there are a few other values you can add and something about disabling page filing etc.

I am playing on default for now out of fear would love to play with it up though just don't really understand it and thus the fear....

Yes Sir, i have bugs with ugrids until yesterday.
I tried every setting with 7, 9, 11, still had crashes (with 9 i was able to play about 2 hours without single crash).

Just remember to keep backup of your saves before you apply ugrids to load and configurator changes, also backup skyrim.ini and skyrim.prefs.

Can you explain more about the 'threaded' checkboxes on several tabs in the application? Are they guaranteed to work? Any stability issues? More threads per core?

I guess so  it's a matter of try and run ,always you can back to your backups (saves and inis).
Some mods may be conflicting with ugridstoload 13, like wheez dungeon pack.

The tool or the ugrids set to 13? If you want, I will do a test drive on ugrids to 13 and do the intro over again and see if the same problem I was having with ugrids set to 9 happens. I will report back in a few minutes.

*UPDATE* Yeah that did nothing great for me. First off, I was unable to even load up a new game. I just got the infinite load screen until I tasked managered out. Then I used an auto save I didn't care about and ran around Whiterun. To my surprise there wasn't a single FPS lost. The view looked pretty nice and I was able to start off a couple quests no problem... then I tried to leave Whiterun and I got the infinite loading screen again. Personally, I would hold off on setting Ugridstoload to 13.

yeah same result for me. got ugrids 9 to load up, but 11 and 13 would just sit in the load screen. the config tool seems nice, thanks for the reference!

Thanks for the feedback fellas def keeping my eye on this program would love a tool over just .ini tweaks when it comes to ugrids. Shadows and stuff is one thing but this is a red button of doom.

Going over 9 is probably pointless as 9 gives you decent landscapes and NPCs miles off in the distance anyway.
Also, anyone putting the ugrids up should maybe try hanging around teh Falkreath area and watch their FPS drop massivily.

I could get above 9 to load up, but not always as it would stick in the loading screen a lot.
9 seems to be a more reliable setting.

Kind of off topic but......
What about LOD distance can I mess with that using this thing and increase the range? I ask because I get this annoying pop in:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wx1nMzv3t1M

not my video but I get the same thing on the "safe" imperial walls
