I think Bethesda could learn at least one thing from Dark Soul's developers.
If I read that article right, basically the developers said (to paraphrase) "yeah we messed up, but hey we're not going to do another one so no need to worry about it happening again".

I'm pretty sure I would cry if Bethesda ever announced that.

Basically, "we messed up, and are pretty sure we could do better, sorry players....will you forgive us? If you do we'll do better next time."

I like Diablo it has some pretty decent lore to back it up.Mind you it has been decades since i have played it my taste has changed since then.

Diablo was great for its time, I loved it.

I don't know how the design would hold up now though. Apparently D3 is pretty much the same sort of deal.

Honestly I don't see any need for that. Bethesda knows they messed up, we know they messed up, they're working on patches as we speak, and most of the mature fans know that it is an understandable screw up for such a large game (which the creator of Dark Souls was also talking about), so I don't see why Bethesda needs to learn to publicly announce "we'll do better next time if you forgive us".

That sounds typical of the Japanese. In a good way.
Westerners tend to just go "Meh, better luck next time".

Meh...Dark Souls and Skyrim...neither one really engaged me even though I loved their predecessors. Dark Souls felt like it had no soul and Skyrim was 16 square miles and 1 foot deep.
