Go-dda-mn that is a fine avatar. Always draws my attention Bob. Dark Souls is trash, by the way.

I've never heard of Dark Souls before, so I'm going to say Skyrim.

This is bound to be closed, though one of the reasons why the last one was closed seemed laughable to me.

Just goes to show that Dark Souls is a lot less expansive than Skyrim.

In Skyrim you can be who you want to be, and play who you want to be. In Dark Souls you can... kill things.

But that's the great thing about Dark Souls.

Since they didn't add tons of useless things, they were able to focus on combat.

The combat in Dark Souls in far better than Skyrim.

Skyrim could learn from it.

Different weapons function differently.

A straight sword wields and attacks differently than a curved sword or a piercing sword.

The player even wields different weapon types....differently.

You can equip any weapons one or two handed.

You can even dual shield or equip a shield on your back while using a bow.

There are so many options in Dark Souls.

Battlefield didn't bother with all the other things Skyrim did, and its combat is pretty good too.....

Whatever... I found Darks Souls to be linear and boring... I have no such qualms about Skyrim.

Does it tell a decent story?

Dark Souls is over-hyped. Being hard does not make a game good; I don't know why some people convince themselves that that is the case. I'd rather have a wide-open world to explore, and the freedom to define my character, be it what my character focuses his skills in battle, or just exploring every last nook and cranny in the world at my leisure.

From what i have heard no story. My friend said it wasn't hard you just have to have patience and wait for the right moment to attack and people for that reason say it is hard.

And when they do get banned, they then create a trial account and cry oppression and censorship, and truly believe that they did not do anything wrong.

How does a game like that exist with no story?

I can see how it might be boring. Diablo with no point to it.

How about you take this crap to the dark souls forums? Maybe they don't lock your crap so often.

It tells a story, but it leaves too much to the imagination. A lot of backstory is found on item/weapon/armor descriptions.

It's called compromise, and IMO Skyrim compromised combat for open-ended gameplay, which makes it a superior game to me because I don't want to play an RPG solely for combat.

And honestly I do not think Bethesda could learn anything from the Dark Souls developers. Both studios are taking two different directions.

I think Bethesda could learn at least one thing from Dark Soul's developers.

I hate these kind of threads. It takes a special kind of person to go onto a forum for X and say "I'm proud of you and I'm gonna let you finish, but Y is soooooooooo much better than X!". OP just give it up - we are here because we like the TES series, not some half-wit game that thinks its cool, just to be looked at like that wannabe hipster in the corner.
