I just recently found out about this game called Darksouls and wondered if it could be a threat at the game awards. What do you think? Personally i think Skyrim will be better but Darksouls looks pretty awesome too. Hmm so many games coming out who do you think will get game of the year? (Skyrim ftw) :sadvaultboy:

I saw the commercial for Dark Souls and I've got to say... it looks like utter [censored]. Not nearly as sixy as Skyrim.

I don't see how Dark Souls would even compare to Skyrim. Just not my type of game I guess (though other people may like it). Skyrim is so much more massive and open that you'd be crazy not to give awards to Skyrim.

This. First time watching Dark Souls gameplay 5 minutes ago...it looks like Dragon Age kind of. I hated Dragon Age.

Well Skyrim will keep me occupied for atleast 7 months but when that's up, after I get AC: Revelations and Halo Anniversary, I might try out Darksouls.

lol you either never played dragon age or didnt even watch anything other than screen shot from dark souls because skyrim is more like dragon age in terms of gameplay than dark souls is.

Skyrim already won Best RPG and GOTY win they show it off at E3 no other RPG can come close only The Witcher 2 is even close to the same level of awesomeness.

I have played Dragon Age, I don't understand why you would assume I haven't. I went to YouTube and searched Dark Souls gameplay, and from first looks, it compares to Dragon Age in my eyes. Also, from what I have been reading, you seem to generate a lot of hate towards Skyrim. Either that, or I am getting reading your posts wrong.

This is a good year for RPGs. Dark's Souls will definitely be the same caliber game as Skyrim. Skyrim has a much higher chance of winning due to popularity however and being more accessible. Dark Souls is more of a niche game as are most From Software games. Armored Core is another fantastic niche game series made by them

You also forgot about Deus Ex. Another game in the same league as Skyrim and Dark Souls. This game definitely has a better chance of winning than Dark Souls due to being more mainstream that Dark Souls, but I still get the impression that Skyrim will win.

Do I think Skyrim deserves to win? I don't know. I haven't played any of these three games yet and a decision like that kind of warrants that. What I can definitely say as that all three of these game will be very close in my eyes, and rightfully so.

bah i loved dragon age (1) more than demon's souls. its just that if skyrim isnt a huge improvement from oblivion and dark souls is a huge improvement from demon's souls they would deserve it. because if we didnt go that way we would just give awards to only call of duty games every year.

To whom it may concern... Dark Souls is far more of a "hardcoe" kick-your-ass RPG than Skyrim and certainly Dragon Age II are. With that said, I'm more excited for Skyrim, but in the aspect of being more "hardcoe"... Dark Souls is a more appealing choice. They've streamlined nothing for no one. Demon's Souls was made against all streamlining trends with no expected mass audience, but surprisingly proved to be popular (well, 1 million copies sold popular). From Software truly are making the game they would like to play that others just happen to enjoy, as well... and that's supposed to be one of Bethesda's mottos.

I don't know how much you follow Skyrim info, but I follow it almost daily. And from what I have read, it seems like a giant leap in many areas. Some areas are similar though. I don't follow Dark Souls/Demon Souls at all, so I take your word for it that the jump is huge inbetween the two. I guess what it all comes down to is what happens when each game is released. But for now, all we can go on is a few gameplay videos/interviews and some text.

Dark Souls will be superior imo. Yeah yeah, people say you can't compare apples and oranges, but me? I'd pick a fresh apple over a sour orange anyday. I haven't seen much of Dark Souls, but Demon's Souls, its prequel, easily outstrips Bethesda's work in terms of gameplay, art direction, creature design, voice acting, atmosphere, music, multiplayer, writing, animations and so on. Dark Souls looks to be more of the same of Demon's Souls, which means it'll probably be better than Skyrim overall. Hell, Dark Souls even has open world exploration, so it might even surpass Skyrim in open world quality, if not quantity.

yes i follow skyrim info daily i just didnt post here for a while because i didnt bother changing my password again after the ''possible hack'' and i do not follow dark souls neither. the thing is most improvement on skyrim from oblivion are on stuff such as animation graphics and stuff like that. the only major improvement i can see is the perk system wich seems to give replayability and give a real customisation to your character. the rest is rather gimmicky unless im just forgeting something, skyrim is just a polish of oblivion. on the other hand IF dark souls is a huge improvement from demon's souls wich was itself very experimental and received alot of praise then if they get the gameplay sinificantly better then they deserve VGA because the development between the two games brought more new gameplay and amelioration than oblivion to skyrim. understand?

I hate fighting demons and skeletons, and i heard that's what Dark Souls is all about. I can stand a quest or two once in a while in TES or Dragon Age (the fade?), but if the whole game is based on those enemies than it's not for me,
